On the concept album side, I always thought AJFA had the general theme of societal injustices (Blackened: pollution/nuclear warfare, ...And Justice for All: corruption in the justice system, Eye of the Beholder: lack of free will, One: war, Shortest Straw: blacklisting and witchunts, Harvester of Sorrow: domestic abuse, Frayed End of Sanity: mental health struggles, To Live is to Die: the injustice of Cliff's death and Dyers Eve: bad parenting) and the second half of 72 seasons is a kind of story about addiction, starting from Chasing Light where the protagonist is first drawn exposed to his vice, then If Darkness Had a Son is how his addiction controls him, Too Far Gone? (clue's in the name), Room of Mirrors is rehab/therapy and Inamorata is the final struggle and eventual overcoming of his addiction (not what I'm living for).

@@beinmetal No way, that's crazy! I've enjoyed your content for ages man, still to this day (even though I listen to Metallica less than I used to). One final insight I would like to offer (although this one is more of a conspiracy theory) is the uncanny similarities between the songs Shoot Me Again and Song For the Dead by QOTSA that came out a year earlier. They both start with a fast intro riff that then slows down into the main riff which are nearly identical between the two songs (C to C# movement).

29:50 As Stevie T put it: They went from thrash, to metal, to best metal ever made, to sell-out metal but still amazing, to "I guess we'll do whatever, we'll wear these fur coats and eye liner", to cover band, to orchestra, to movie stars, to "Napster, argh!", to *imitates drum on St. Anger*, to... whatever the hell this is (referring to Lulu), to horrible cover band and back to metal. :D

There was a chest of material for Live Shit: Binge & Purge, that was marketed as a box set in the 90s. A lot of the material was recorded in the 1980s. Sooooooooooooo, you see this is the brilliance of Papa Het & Lars. The combined a box set & a live album into 1 package. There was multiple CDs, booklets, posters, stickers, I think there may have been embroidered patches. The box set was modeled around the, Live Shit: Binge & Purge tour of the 1980s, when they were lovingly given the moniker, ALCOHOLLICA.

Things I want Metallica to do (and no one cares):
    - Garage. Inc. 2 (with some covers that they played live such as Let It Loose, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch, Detroit Rock City, Hole In The Sky, The Money Will Roll Right In, London Dungeon and House Of The Rising Song).
    - Re-record St. Anger (shorter songs, more tight guitar and better drum sound).
    - Play ...And Justcie For All in its entirety, even if it is a setlist with only those 9 songs (we need Eye Of The Beholder live again!). And with the white drums!
    - Play some songs they never played live like Cure, Where The Wild Things Are, The House Jack Built, Attitude, Purify or My World.

Papa Het says, 72 Seasons is a concept album about growing up in a bad childhood. And on top of that 72 Seasons @ 4/year is, you guessed it, 18 years. And you have to live 18 years to be considered an adult in the US. Every song on the record is about problems faced by many children & teenagers. A perfect case in point, "Keep me inside, my name is suicide. Many teens including myself face this issue and many times the person doesn't say anything. They keep inside to themselves. This newest album is the only 1 that the band has called a concept album. There are Sooooooooooooo many similarities in, 72 Seasons an a concept album like, PINK FLOYD's, ANIMALS[1977] which is a concept album about the music industry and compared record execs to pigs🐖, dogs🐕, & sheep🐑.

Always thought of St. Anger and Seasons as concept albums. St. Anger is going down the spiral of frustration and anger with the outcome of self-destruction while Seasons is going down that same negative spiral but with the outcome of wanting to go on for another day. Probably unintentional but that's how I always viewed them. Both albums were made in the wake of James returning from rehab, so I associate them with each other.

Metallica had many box sets, including the fan cans. As far as special concerts, the one I went to in Philly was a special concert in 97. There was a national contest from radio stations all over the USA for which city would host a free Metallica concert. Philadelphia won “it was called the million decibel march” a play on the recent million man march. It was supposed to be about a million fans until some jerk off city councilman who years later would become our mayor tried to put a stop to it. The concert went on but was capped at 50k people

I like both bands so I don’t usually like hearing the back and forth about who’s better but wanted to say that much.
