This was beautiful. Getting my Cycles this month, and was thinking of pairing up in the future with the Samples. This convinced me is a good idea ))
You earn big points for using Chrono Trigger sound effects for the intro
that bass live record is on point
I've been having a blast with two Model:Samples and a Model:Cycles sequencing a Blofeld. It's a lot of power in a small space.
I use an Octatrack with my Blofeld and I’m heavily considering adding the Model Cycles to my setup. Both of these boxes just look so fun.
Ive been usin 2 M:S units as well in tandem. With 1 sequencing external gear and doin a track or 2 of sample or whatever. Was thinkin of runnin a Cycles unit along with them but every time I ended up cracking and went looking to get 1 nobody had any in stock... Seems like it would be a cool combination tho...
Love it! You play the Models really good!
new to elektron but just picked up both of these together for £300 - absolute bargain - and it's coming this weekend! Bit disappointed at the lack of multi-outputs as I produce in Logic in a digital/hardware hybrid setup but excited to see what I can do with them both together!

Model:Cycles is sending MIDI Clock to the Model:Samples.
With the cable how do you sync the two of them
Which do you recommend? Cycles or samples
What do you want to do with it? Samples is great, but it does take some prep in loading the samples you want, then it is extremely fun. Cycles right out the box is interesting and has a great sound, fun and quick to get complex.

I'm going to ask a dumb question but what's the difference between the two?
One is a sampler so you can load external hits and samples into it and the other is an fm synth which means frequency modulation so the sounds are all internal and produced entirely by the hardware, the samples of course being the sampler
@@alexround2043 thanks for explanation. Wouldn't the sampler version mean you have more options for sounds then? Like, why would someone get the version where you can't add any sounds?
@@vertigev true it’s personal preference some people like to just have complete freedom and if you know how to work the an fm synth like the cycles then you can make some pretty crazy sounds, but aswell like you say having the option to load in samples exactly as you want them is a plus, that’s why both are good in different ways, aswell some people don’t like the fiddling when you want new sounds and you have to download them and find the ones you want so all in all it’s like most music hardware whereby you just have a go and whatever you like you like, both worth a go I think
@@vertigev it really is like anything man when it comes down to it if you’re a hardware geek you start to notice what’s missing from your setup sound wise and there’s a plethora of options to choose from it’s confusing but rewarding most of the time
