  • In this video we explore how to use the melodic samples on Model:Samples to sculpt a pad and a lead sound when creating grooves. Let us know in the comments if you have other ideas for creating and sculpting melodic textures on the Model:Samples.
    We are using the term 'melodics' to describe the pitch and succession of tones in relation to the tune within a piece of music, rather than its percussive or atonal elements.

    Subbed and loved! Thanks this was actually MEGA helpful! I just got my Model:Samples last week for my birthday, and it is my first dive into electronic instrumentation and into sample work at all. So finding videos like this that break different parts down are FREAKIN AWESOME! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for your videos in the future :)

    Once the initial rush of a new piece music gear dies down, I like to revisit and then make my mind up about purchasing it, in this case the Model Samples/Cycles. Your videos are excellent in me making the right judgment! Please keep up the good work.

      I saw a post on reddit saying that if the Samples came out before the Digitakt, everyone would have it and forums would demand you buy it (like they do now for the Digitakt). But instead, when it came out after the Digitakt, everyone who dropped $700 on the Digitakt was bitter and the forums and even RUclips trashed the Model:Samples even thought it's an incredible machine for the price. Now that's kind of dying down and many people are recognizing how great it is.

    Something I did because it was driving me crazy: I cut a thin strip of clear tape, stuck it right above the triggers and used a sharpie to mark little dots above 1-16 to indicate which triggers were in minor scale. Not a perfect solution but now I can quickly eyeball melodic minor, and play in that scale. A few tweaks and it's easy to jump to harmonic and phrygian. I just want elektron to add a scale mode so very badly so I don't have to lug a midi controller around with me on the go

      Maybe check out Oversynth. They offer overlays with Note indications.

      Scales would be awesome. The scales on the electribe are very helpful and would be great on this too.

    how do you use the step sequencer to record a melody or bass line without having to choose every note with the rotary encoder?

    Hola gente, necesito que me ayuden con un problema, mí model samples no graba en vivo. Al apretar el botón de grabar y hacer sonar los track no quedan grabados en la secuencia. No se escuchan ni parpadean, alguien sabe a qué puede deberse? Muchas gracias

    Is it possible to use sample start/length knobs in order to make some sort of a wavetable synth?

    • @crnkmnky
      @crnkmnky 3 года назад +1

      I think so. It comes with some basic waveform samples that seem to work like wavetables.

      yeah, you set length to one (or more, but it sounds worse) and then scroll thru wavetable with sample start

    What are "melodics"? Are they like music notes?

      Something pitched - so not most drums.

    Is there an option to pan the samples?

    • @ElektronVideoKlub
      @ElektronVideoKlub  3 года назад +1

      Yes. The secondary function of the LEVEL/DATA knob can control the panning of the samples.

    Odd use of the word “melodics”
