This is beautifully made--the scenes you chose, the dialogue--but it's so, sooo sad that I can't bear to watch it. Seriously. I watched the first half months ago and only finally steeled myself to watch the second half when it came up in search results today. I think I did the little preview thing on the progress bar last time and saw there was no happy ending to save me eventually and couldn't stand to finish it. Heh. I really really wish such a beautiful vid could have had a happy ending. I don't believe the Doctor lost River forever in the Library. I think it's a day that isn't completely finished being written yet, so far as we've seen. When it was so EASY (for a given value of 'easy' heh) to avoid/fake the Doctor's death in _a fixed point in time,_ it seems pretty ridiculous to me to continue to think it's really _true_ that River died in the Library. No matter the evidence (e.g., 'data ghost') we think there is. Because that would just be a STUPID plot point. I personally think River would save herself--escape!--if it's even the case that the consciousness in the Library computer was all that was left of her (even _that_ prison couldn't hold River Song!), but that belief aside, it's horrendous to think the Doctor would never do anything to save her, whether by preventing her actually dying (as with his fake death) or by getting her out of the computer later. Especially considering the lengths he went to for _Clara._ Given what he did for Clara, he'd have to be the worst person ever to do _nothing_ for his beloved River. (Sorry, putting her consciousness back in another prison and an even worse one from which she cannot escape does not count as 'saving' River Song. She'd be miserable.) You'd have to start asking if he ever DID really love River. Blek.
I think she really did die in the library, but I'm hoping they do either an episode or an audio series where the Doctor saves her from the library computer.
And I think the Doctor did love River. He was clearly heartbroken after she died.

Wow. I always thought of Thirteen as talking about her child(ren) and granddaughter back on Gallifrey that she lost in the Time War. I never made the connection to include River as "family" even though it makes perfect sense to do so. Thank you for such insight! The Ponds would count too. And so many of the lines you quote were actually about Clara….they were close enough to count as family, in their hearts at least, too.

Ashildr said that about Clara in 9x12, but I used it for River because the same is true for her too.
This line fits River better anyway. She died to save the Doctor and to keep her timeline intact. Clara died over some stupid contract misunderstanding, saying she died for who she was and for who she loved is a bit of a stretch lbh
