At this point it started to become just a formality that the Cup was coming to St Louis! It's been such a wonderful ride with the Blues. I supported them ever since I got into hockey. I always stayed a Blues fan even though it likely meant never seeing a Cup given their inexplicable losses in the playoffs. To have it paying off staying with them is such a wonderful feeling! I could have rooted for another team, another town, but no, I'm in the St Louis metro region, and I chose to stay true to the Blues. It's been a very, VERY long road, and I'm glad to see the end of the line, the light at the end of the tunnel has been reached, and there is Lord Stanley! We've reached the Stanley Cup champion level! WOW! St Louis has officially won all 4 major sports championships!
I know the feeling! For me, rooting for another team was just not possible. What kind of fan would I be? I always thought winning the Cup was for other teams and that it was just never in the cards for our city. The fact that this has happened is still hard to believe! The patience and the loyalty has paid off!
I live in St. Louis. Not only was Enterprise Center filled to capacity, There were 20,000 fans at a watch party at Busch Stadium. Almost 400,000 showed up for the parade after they won.
As soon as Sanford put #4 in the net, I think EVERYONE in STL started realizing "Holy shit, WE'RE GONNA WIN THE FUCKING STANLEY CUP! THE WAIT OF A LIFETIME IS OVER!"
