- In an era of infinite leverage, good decision-making is the most important skill. Because the outcomes of good judgement, when used with leverage, is amplified to a level that can be orders of magnitude superior to the outcomes of pure hard work (without using leverage)
- Naval mentions there are 3 kinds of Leverage : Labor (people follows you), Capital (people trust you money), and Code & Media (free and permissionless leverage!).
- (For start-ups) Decisions such as what you choose to work on, who you choose to work with, and a burning desire to achieve it. That is the most important thing.
- Hard work : Done out of fear and anxiety. Because now it has become a competition for its own sake, and something that is very well accepted in our society (which is why hyper-efficient people that don't work as hard get demonized)
- The way it should work is --- First, you have the goal/desire. And to achieve it, hard work comes implicitly in your execution. So, don't seek the hard work for its own sake, but seek your burning desire and act accordingly.
- Also, want the desire strong enough. The deep root of why people fail is not a lack of hard work, but not wanting the desire enough.
- The key to outperform everybody --- Focus on what feels like play to you, but work for others.

- So… my take is that we should work hard on developing the correct mental framework and valuable skills, so that we know better which path to take on in order to maximize output with the least amount of input needed.

when Naval Ravikant said about one of his employee who is able to solve problem in relatively shorter time than others (who put in a hard work), I believe that that talented guy actually has been worked really hard before. then now he can do his tasks easily. cause he has learned so much before.
I think he worked extremely to acquire the skills that he has

It’s a bit of a pointless conversation. It makes sense if you look back, but when you’re in the midst of something, you do whatever it takes, including hard work, good judgment, etc.
Hard work breeds talent, always has always will. Naturally talented with hard work will breed greatness, both equations require hard work.
Good Judgement beats hardwork, Everytime, and Every day!
I think hard work is given, especially in the beginning. Even if you pick the right thing to work on with the right people and then work hard, that also doesn’t guarantee success. There’s also external factors, such as timing, marketplace, economy, “luck”, etc. On the end, it’s never just one thing and also success if non-linear. Sometimes you work less and get better results and sometime you work hard and you don’t get the results.

I’m from Crimea- I watched my mom shovel ground and plant potatoes or unload coal from train vagons and still we were poor and never had money and they worked hard! I see people work hard at McDonald’s and they are still struggle! It’s all about right choices abs education!

Society values the appearance of effort
it's painful but yes good judgment is way better than hard work. Good judgment leads the direction, then have hard work. Pick the path first then put in the work. Putting in the work with no good path leads nowhere but mediocrity

We live in a society where I, at least around me, see people not working hard. Whether its because they are not motivated, complacent, or vice versa, I don’t know. Telling the new generation to not believe in diligence and hard work, would be worse than what we have. Choosing the right area of work and finding your passion goes is a must which goes without saying.
You are probably correct and I think that's a point they missed, because when they talk about talent and hardwork they talk about it at a really high level and creative pursuits. A manual labourer for example you want to make sure works hard, because you can get things done faster. However I think the message here is that passion precedes hard work, and the success you see around you are founded on passion and hard work is a by product of that.
@@missionpupa I agree but I see a lot of broke PHDs who followed their passion. Hard work along with smart work is the key. A lot of entrepreneurs including myself have to do things I don't like to be able to do ghe things I do like.
@@MR-AK I didn't say passion is the one and only answer key to financial freedom, not at all, I'm saying, the most successful people you will meet (by their own efforts) have that passion. A great majority of not all.
It's the filter by which you get to that level of success, not the only Ingredient.
If you're an entrepreneur and you hate your days, then that's not the passion in talking about. If you don't want to do certain tasks, then hire someone to do it for you, but you wanted to be an entrepreneur, that's what it involves.
@@missionpupa lol is there any entrepreneur who doesn't do any task they don't like? Even Elon talks about all the non-glamorous stuff he has to do. If you've built a business you would know what I'm talking about. I love what I do but I can't hire someone for every annoying thing I have to do to keep my business thriving. Hope that makes sense.

Good point. I guess the work hard is more referred to the execution side. But to have good judgement, you gotta definitely work hard into becoming a learning machine, to then see more clearly which path is best to take and then execute hard (work hard)
Having a solid work ethic comes from something you love to do and it's fun.
I feel like good judgement is the result of caring deeply about what is true. That hasn't got anything to do with hard work. Discernment only.

@@galipatfarm I think i spend time to think through what i shall do than getting busy doing what comes in my way....i picked projects/roles that offer fantastic pay when i achieve certain milestones...i work independently and have a good control on my time.

What they are saying is true to an extent but it seems like one of them (I think it's Kapil Gupta) goes a bit over board with this narrative. Hard work is a crucial ingredient to success, it's just not the entire pie. Put 2 boxers in a ring and the guy who trained harder, ran more miles, sparred more rounds, is 9/10 times going to win.
I respectfully disagree. There is no way to success without hardwork. Some people are mor gifted and work smarter and less but still put the hours. Everyone is a little different.
If you chase success you willl end up dissatisfied. I don't think using the term hardwork is good. It is just choking success. You think "hardwork" is struggle but it is inefficient if "hardwork" is hard then sorry you aren't enjoying the journey, you aren't enjoying the craft only struggling which is bad for mental health and only brings pain and suffering. But if hardwork is not about how hard you work how long you work but how much you put efforts then that's fruitful.
Even God don't judge a man until his last days why you and i will?
Love Naval, but every clip with Kapil I find disappointing. Kapil really is one of those guys who seems to say a lot of words without actually saying anything at all. He really needs to work on simplifying his points if he cares about being understood.
