Great video lads, lots of detail and very well produced.
First visited Maenofferen over 50 years ago in 1972 and have made regular visits ever since. I have seen it as a working mill with the Rhiwbach No. 2 incline still taking wagons of finished slate down from the mill and the Back Vein incline still used to bring up the slate from deep in the mine. It has been heart-breaking to see the ongoing deterioration (destruction??) of the whole site in the intervening years. Must go back soon................

Hi there, thank you for the comment!
      Really appreciate that.
I’m still very new to this production side and it takes ages to make these videos, but we feel this Quarry deserves the detail we go through on our videos.
You must of visited not too long between when our father visited in 72. Most of the older photos on the videos are from my dad.
He unfortunately doesn’t want to go back and see how it is now as he wants to remember it as it was, he might change his mind if he watches Part 2…
Yes make the trip if you can! Best go on a weekend when the contractors are no on site……
Keep an eye on our videos Part 3 we look at the works in more detail!
      All the best James.

Hi lads, just back after a busy couple of weeks, so got to catch up on what you've posted recently.
Visited Maenofferen a few weeks ago in December so looking forward to these episodes. There's
changes going on all the time. The tunnel behind the sheds to the back vein is blocked off, asbestos
roof between the two big slate roofs on the sheds now removed.
    An enjoyable watch.
    Ben.

Maenofferen is was not the largest underground mine in ffestiniog the largest by far was the Oakley with 31 levels the lowest being R floor at sea level, maen's lowest floor was "I" [ as in India ] I worked in the "F" mostly, F34, F35 F38.

I didn’t realise until recently how big Oakley was (use to be) after some research! Would love to have a look about and see what’s left but I here it’s guarded as it’s still active. Maybe one day!!..I did change the video titles to not say “Largest Mine in the world” I will take it off the videos one day. It takes hours to change…When I have an internet connection that will let me upload a video in a few hours instead of the 12-24 hours it currently takes me to upload a video haha!!…The joys.
