Little did Chase know, that would be the last time he saw his father alive
Pretty sure he knew. House isn't the only one who can spot cancer. And why else would his father show up out of the blue if not to say goodbye. Even if he were in the area he didn't HAVE to make it a point to stop by.
@@synthwavecat96 No he called his dad and found out from his new wife that he passed away and he said something like - That's not possible I spoke with him 3 months ago
No. He didn't know. There's another episode where Chase gets the news that he died. A patient comes in right afterwards and he misses a symptom that ends up causing her to die. @@synthwavecat96

Denial is a hell of a thing. Some would even say it's a stage of grief.
@@synthwavecat96 No, he didn't know or suspect. When he finds out, he's so shocked he's distracted and dismisses a problem with a patient.
They’re still uploading. Tons of respect. Seriously.
Yeah, tons of respect to whoever takes care of this channel 🫡
They want you to go watch the show again so they can get paid. It's probably working too.
why not this show will always be good and people are hungry for old shows since new shows stink

Why wouldn’t they get paid, they get paid from RUclips ads and push people to the streaming platform to make even more. What’s to respect lol

Mexican Mothers Day Yes.
US Mother's Day not yet, weekend yes. I know we turn our B-days to birth weekends, but don't water down an important day by stretching it to the weekend.
Spoil your mom on that day & tell her I love you ma everyday.

New House MD videos do not normally come out over the weekend. Therefore, this Friday release is as close to Mother's Day as possible.

“You breeze by him like he’s a Hare Krishna at the airport” 😂
My favorite line by House.
I can’t stand people who say “c’mon they’re your (insert family member)” like that’s supposed to override whatever someone was put through, like, no, not to them they’re not☹️
The part at 6:34 and following kind of guided me when I was still a teen in the middle of a family crisis. To this day I still use Chase's words when talking about that, it's amazing how they still rezonate to be true
it even got House to shut up
"It isn't your business"... but dad made it his business when he butted into their diagnostic session... and it is House's business, if one of his team members becomes distracted.
It’s his personal life so it’s none of houses business
House understands Chase's struggle with his dad, because of his own struggles with his "dad".
I might be missing something but... Who was House's Dad anyway?
Did they actually shown House’s father…… I can’t remember that episode
They had a whole episode revolving around his dad (or possibly of him not being his dad) i recommend watching it @@davidphilipp574
@@davidphilipp574it’s on this page

Cameron is wrong. Leaving his children with their mother was abusive. He could have easily fought for custody of them.
It was abusive since his mom was an alcoholic and she wasn’t in good conditions to raise her children
@@MarianaRamirezLechuga , exactly.
He even said that she was gone long before he left. So if he knew how bad she was, he knew he it was bad leaving the kids and still did so.
Unless he couldnt win custody for some reason or she threatened him with something.
@@hitsugatatsuro9978 , if that had been the case, Chase would have brought that up.
As someone that has lived a life similar to Chase's, it ain't easy. I can feel his frustration personally when people are trying to pry into his private life on why he doesn't speak with his father. It's a hard feeling to explain.
Chase and House had more in common than they realized!
Hence the prodigal son comment.
Cameron saying: unless he's done some unspeakable thing u should lighten up!
Lowkey fucked up cus all she knew he could've actually been abusive
Then saying "all this hate. Is toxic" when once again she still can't be sure what his dad actually did
Cameron was supposed to be the "moral" one right😂
Abandonment is emotional abuse.
Lmao y’all just want to make everything about Cameron when this has nothing to do with her
Sometimes I think the writers just want to communicate a message so they just pick whichever character to express it.
Cameron's husband died so she was probably coming from the perspective of forgive your father before it's too late.
They could have easily gave those lines to Foreman or House and it would have fit their characters depending on the delivery.
Yeah it’s easy to preach things when you aren’t involved.
She was trying to get him to tell her what his father did.
"Sometimes, for some people, knowing some things makes them care".
Absolutely true. Up to this point, in my eyes, Chase was just some brown-nosing douchebag. By the end, when he parts with his dad, I was like... bro.
I found it interesting that House was kind of 'nice' to Chase's dad this episode.
Chase's dad is a distinguished physician, House is curious, and sympathetic because of the conflict between the older Dr. Chase and his son.
House don't like people who lie, when he confront Sr. Chase he told the truth and yes also that his a distinguished physician I think.
I honestly believe that every character in House had mommy and/or daddy issues
Doesn’t everyone? Even if they don’t, they still think they do. Varying degrees of screwed up, but aren’t all of us?
@@Sniperboy5551 Why? Everything is a "Bell Curve".
Meaning some have slight, others severe issues-with anything.
No reason to believe that everyone has either the same, or everyone has at least a little, of any problem or disorder.
Also, no reason to believe that all those who do not...think they do!
But some feel better about their own problems & deal with feelings of inadequacy by diagnosing it in everyone else.
50% of us do. Hence, 50% of adults have secure attachment styles in their relationships. The other 50% are a mixed bag.
@@SilverSkitterscuttle in real life everything is a bell curve but in tv Series like this almost all the time the characters have psychological issues, you can actually notice every problem that each one of the characters of this series has, House had problems with his father, Chase as well ( both mom and dad), Thirteen had problems with her mother, Cuddy as well, Foreman had some conflicts with her parents as well, Park as well, even Adams had problems with her parents because they raised her "too well"
If you have 3 months, and your son asks you for a drink, you delay or even outright ignore the flight that takes you away.
The goodbye show Chase was right about him.
He knows he's dying and will never see his son again yet when his son son extends an olive branch he won't even have a drink with him. That's cold. Robert was right about him.
Yeah in all honesty he should have just said ah what the hell I'll stay.
Here's my two cents. He was probably afraid that if he started drinking he would tell Robert the truth. Notice how in the end he still acted nonchalant? He probably wanted Robert's last image of him is of confidence.
Or he could have been feeling too ill to go for a drink and didn't want his son to see him like that.
I know what I'm talking about. When you're old and sick, you only have a certain amount of energy and strength in one day. You can only pretend to be all right a certain amount of time. And everybody makes the decision as to whether or not they want to burden their adult children and loved ones with their own terminal diagnosis.
In this man's case, he didn't feel he deserved his son's attention as he was dying, because he wasn't there for his son when he was living.
Their goodbye was better than I thought it was going to be. That Robert hugged his father will be some small comfort to him later.
@@buggart When I was growing up my father was a hard hard man, and before he died life humbled him, at that point I didn’t care about his confidence or his hardness I cared about the time we lost.
Not every day you see a man, who graciously accepts the fruits of his actions with steed and a chin up, and calm in the face of absolute imminent failure.
Yeah, it's like the depiction of "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.
2:50 after watching this clip I think Chase has every right for not wanting to see or speak to his dad.
And his dad doesn’t exactly have any leg to stand on when trying to being what he should have done a long time ago.
Chase did he right thing. He is a sweetheart.
one of chases strongest moments.
As a man who spent a lot of wasted time being angry at someone I never saw with my own two eyes, that last scene always struck me hard.
I was pissed at my father that I never met. Missed the only call from him I ever had, my one chance of hearing his voice. Then, I was at his funeral. Make the most of the time you have. No matter how you feel. Please.
Leaving them when he did and not coming back so chase had to become the adult to care for his mother and getting nothing for himself.his father knowing this and still staying absent.it's a miracle chase ended up alright.his father deserves nothing except maybe pity for being so evil to chase.
I like how hard house tries to make them connect and spend time together , I feel like he noticed way earlier and tried his best for chases sake
2024 still watching House
As a constantly-disappointed-entity, I can relate to Chase's father, only difference is, everyone is a disappointment to me.
As the saying goes, the one constant in all of your relationships is you.
Common denominator is you, hun. Thanks for playing ❤

-"I'll see you"
-"Yeah... I'll see you"
I've had people speak to me the way poor Chase was spoken to, about how I should love, respect, cherish, want, need & value my parents, & my sisters, how they deserve my devotion, commitment, loyalty & love. I've always hated those people. Because while some families are perfect, not all families are. Not everyone can stand their families.
My mom could see things were not going in a good direction by the time I was 1 year old and divorced my father. She did the right thing and as a result by the time I was 2 I had a stepdad. My bio-father was always in my life, at least when it was convenient, but always as a friend never a "father figure". We get along great and I hold no ill thoughts about him. In fact I respect him bowing out because he knew my dad (stepdad) would do a better job. My dad never denied me and always treated me as his own. 46 years later, I can see where my life would've went if he didn't step up and raise a kid that wasn't even his and I'm thankful every day that he did. My father did exactly as his title suggests, he fathered me into the world but my Dad did the hard part and showed me how to live in it and for that reason my dad will always be the man I look up to. Thank you for everything Dad, I Love You
I'm glad for you.
00:25 shows how accurate Hugh Laurie’s American accent is. English people pronounce Aussie as “ozzy”, but Americans incorrectly pronounce it as “Ossy” and Hugh Laurie made sure to keep that Americanized pronunciation to add to the authenticity.
If you ask me, I think he put a bit too much emphasis on the harsh "s" sound, when Americans say it it's more of an in-between "s" and "z"
I am American and have never once heard someone pronounce it that way, what are you smoking
Do Brits also say Auztralia?
Wiktionary claims that it's pronounced exclusively with a 'z' sound in Australia, but that it's pronounced with either an 's' sound or a 'z' sound in the US, and that the same is true in the UK. Therefore, he could have used either one. The only consistent difference between the US and UK pronunciations is in the initial vowel sound. The IPA symbol for the vowel sound used in the US and Australia is 'ɔ', while the vowel sound used in the UK is 'ɒ'. If you don't know how to interpret IPA symbols, I can't help you - neither do I.
It is very hard to trust a meaningful hug on a parent that doesn't help you when you most need it and that sabotages your life decisions.
You can't help wanting to feel a good embrace, but the body is scared of being vulnerable, even though you know they'll not be forever on Earth.
I wonder whether one should seize opportunities by giving the other cheek, or avoid everything completely in order to not leave any regrets.

Thank you for this. I COMPLETELY follow you and feel myself torn into the same situation. It gives me a bit of relief to know that I am not alone in this.. Wish you lots of courage 🙏

I think this was one of the best episode scenes :)
I had a feeling this old man was his dad, it was just from the title too.
I have no idea why but I was thinking of this episode the other day. I didn't remember which the season or episode number until this popped up in my feed today 😮
I feel for Chase though bc I know there's a lot of people who can relate.

Oh if only Cameron knew...
I can understand Chase's dad
I didn't leave you? Okay, clown when exactly did you go back to get chase?
I loved his painting of Lieutenant Columbo (Peter Falk)
I am so glad someone else noticed this too, The voice was what gave it away for me.
Yeah, but I hated him when he was Chris Walken's evil scar-faced henchman.
Even Chase's father mentioned sarcoidosis...which it never was unlike lupus that one time.
I found out from my mother, with my sister wailing in the background, that my father had passed away. Like chase, he had disappointed me so many times that i felt i hated him, he destroyed our relationship but i was now mourning for my baby sister and how he left her and how since he left me a very long tim ago. I cried about the way he let his wddiction consume him and pushed away everything he felt dear. I felt angry that there was never any closure.
He sounds like Hannibal in silence of the lambs
Lol he kinda does at points .
I like to think they actually got to have that one drink
But then again,i treat this as a Yakuza kiwami sub story,i cant complete them all in one go,i gotta keep watching the show/playing the game to know what happens next
That's the terrible thing about unforgiveness. It's like drinking poison, and hope the other gets sick.
You're still going?? Nice
First! This is one of the only TV shows I will willingly watch. Truly an all-time classic.
Is that kid at 7:32 the kid who played the spy kid from spy kids
Yep, Juni Cortez.
Kiddo should have ridden in the taxi to the airport with his dad. House should have to him about the dad's cancer. He never minds his own business.
Too bad Cameron and Chase didn't work out.
Sorry, you don't love a person just because they're family. Love, like respect, is a privilege, not a right. At least Chase will have a halfway decent last memory of his father, help him not to ruminate so much on the wasted years.
💯agree
Exactly!

@@nettiergdepends on region and age and what not. Plenty of Americans say autumn, but fall is probably what about 60 percent or so of people say
TBH, I've never heard an Australian use the season of "autumn" as a time-of-year indicator full-stop. It's such a poorly differentiated season in our climate we don't tend to refer to it as a marker at all. I suppose Chase could have picked up the habit in the US?
It does make me think he'd be talking US autumn though, because it's also temporally a pretty meaningless time of year here - who's taking trips in Oz autumn? That's smack in the middle of school/work times. Seems it's more heading into a holiday period for the US, maybe? Script writers were probably not expecting us to put this much analysis into it 😆. But yeah, especially for discussions between people living in different hemispheres at the time, we'd just use the month, lol.
House should have told Chase. Chase and his Dad could have talked for months. Chase suffers more if they don't talk.
