You sound a bit ‘jarred’ my friend🫣🤪 Philip died in January not on July 4th, plus Midge’s surname is pronounced ‘Your’! Other than that it’s a nice ode to one of our favourite sons - I’d put Rory, Gary, Eric and Pat McManus on the same pedestal of Irish Rockers, we’ve had none like them since, except maybe Simon McBride now ripping it up with Deep Purple🤘 Anyhow, thanks from Ireland 🇮🇪🇸🇩🤘
That’s as funny as fuck ! Well done my friend you are absolutely cock on xx well Done Sir ! Your Brilliant keep up your fantastic HONEST OBSERVATIONS.Come on Bob what’s your story man.
As a Lizzy fan, often wondered why Phil wasn't asked given the Geldof and Ure link with Live aid and their friendship.. Alternatively, Would Phil have died, if he had been invited and played Live Aid? I'm sure it would have felt like a huge kick in the b##lls and certainly wouldn't have enhanced his self esteem/worth, adding to his addictions and Downward spiral. Soo much for two friends like that.
What happened to Phil was nobodies fault but Phils. It wasn't Geldofs fault or anyone elses. I'm suprised this guy didn't try and blame Geldof for his Phila death too . I was waiting for the Phil was so hurt and depressed it caused him to die . I love Phil but he did it to himself .
I don't know what the reasons were behind Phil not playing but I'm sure it was more than just Bob not inviting him just to snub him. Maybe Phil was quite the mess if he was near his end. Boomtown Rats were not a bad band lol. I don't like Bob Geldof either tho, I think he's a terrible person.
Yes well said and grand slam should of been big great heavy sound Lawrence aurthrs on guitar unfortunately rte didn't help either and we all now how them shower of bastards turned out
Bob Geldof is the one Responsible for putting on the show and it wasn't his fault Phil become a Heroin addict and ruined his life . He wasnt asked to play because he wasn't capable .
Great talent Phil, you’re right there are no bad Lizzy records… it’s hard for me to blame Geldoff for not inviting Phil. As you said he was an all-out junkie by then, and that’s hard on everyone in that person’s circle. Fcuk opiods
Ure and Geldoff betrayed Phil when Phil needed them most. They had very short memories after all the favours Phil did for them. Disgusting, as Lizzy would have been awesome at Live Aid.
@@jayrum7303 What nonsense are you on about. The Boomtown Rats had 9 top twenty UK hits of which 2 of them "Rat Trap" and "I Dont Like Mondays". reached No.1 in the UK. The latter was also a global top 10 ten. Some people put them as a Punk band while others consider them New Wave. In the UK the track "Rat Trap" is considered the first No.1 by a New Wave band. They were not my cup of tea.
By 1985 nobody cared about Thin Lizzy and hadn't done for years. Their popularity started to drop after Black Rose and just two years later they failed to even make the Top 30 with Renegade. Phil then got desperate and came up with the idea of a 'farewell' tour for publicity. The idea was that there would be such a public clamour against them splitting up that they would bow to this pressure and carry on. The plans were rumbled and he had to go ahead with the split. I saw Thin Lizzy live on three occasions. I had been led to believe that they were a great live band but, in my experience, they were never more than mediocre live. Phil's arrogance may have played a part in this, he eemed to think that he could get away with the same old schtick perpetually. Certainly they would not have made a massive impact at Live Aid, and absolutely would not have challenged Queen or U2 as the biggest winners of the day.
Imagine if Phil was alive now, with only classic rock bands from the 70’s playing two crowds for $500 bucks a seat. Thin Lizzy would be packing arenas making million’s.

Other than that it’s a nice ode to one of our favourite sons - I’d put Rory, Gary, Eric and Pat McManus on the same pedestal of Irish Rockers, we’ve had none like them since, except maybe Simon McBride now ripping it up with Deep Purple🤘
Anyhow, thanks from Ireland 🇮🇪🇸🇩🤘
That’s as funny as fuck ! Well done my friend you are absolutely cock on xx well Done Sir ! Your Brilliant keep up your fantastic HONEST OBSERVATIONS.Come on Bob what’s your story man.
As all too many have gone. They started out as Musicians dabbling in drugs. And ended up Drug addled addicts dabbling in music.
I always thought that Bob Geldolf was a bit sketchy...
Who needs friends like Bob and Midge
I don't know what the reasons were behind Phil not playing but I'm sure it was more than just Bob not inviting him just to snub him. Maybe Phil was quite the mess if he was near his end. Boomtown Rats were not a bad band lol. I don't like Bob Geldof either tho, I think he's a terrible person.
Philip died on January 4th not July 4th Geldof and Ute stabbed Philip lynott in the back
Yes well said and grand slam should of been big great heavy sound Lawrence aurthrs on guitar unfortunately rte didn't help either and we all now how them shower of bastards turned out
I don’t think Phil was in the best of condition at that time, really…
Bob Geldof is the one Responsible for putting on the show and it wasn't his fault Phil become a Heroin addict and ruined his life . He wasnt asked to play because he wasn't capable .
Great talent Phil, you’re right there are no bad Lizzy records… it’s hard for me to blame Geldoff for not inviting Phil. As you said he was an all-out junkie by then, and that’s hard on everyone in that person’s circle. Fcuk opiods
Who is he? no one's heard of him?
Ure and Geldoff betrayed Phil when Phil needed them most. They had very short memories after all the favours Phil did for them. Disgusting, as Lizzy would have been awesome at Live Aid.
At the time he wasnt on the radar. Simple.
He was a great but no cause to hate on Geldof for that.
Shakin Stevens wasn’t invited either. Complete miscarriage of justice.
Or Joe Dolce 🤔

Boomtown rats one hit wonders imo
They had a hit?
Wtf hit did they have?
Boomtown Rats were a very successful band.
@@johnroche7541 maybe in Boomtown.
Wrap the bass in aluminum foil before ramming the bass into geldoff
Nah. They were great live during the Thunder and Lightning tour.
Lynott died in January. Not July
