When I met my now-wife she lived with her mother in the projects as a single parent. It looked like the statistics were stacked against her. A lot of my friends questioned my judgment and if it was a good idea for me to date her. But I knew she was a good person and she was trying. She stayed in school, got her Bachelor's, and then her Master's. She used to get shit from people in her neighborhood for trying to be better. She just wanted to get out. I'm proud of her for not giving up. Her daughter, who I consider my own child, is a teenager now, doing well, and doesn't have to worry about growing up in a negative environment.

I was raised in Perris,CA and Moreno Valley, CA. I always knew those places as home and never realized the Mexican influence I have in my cooking, some words, and how I understand Spanish. I’m in Texas now since 2006 and I still love where I’m from. I literally listen to Mr. Shadow & lil Rob, ODM, lighter shade of brown, oldies but goodies ( art laboe RIP), suga free, etc I can keep going. The only place where black and brown were cool

I grew up in Southside Ontario in a real bad neighborhood... the IE has some real rough spots, but a lot of people are like these guys - they just wanna live their lives. I was lucky enough to leave young enough to make something of myself and keep things in perspective. I hope everyone still living in these areas stays up and get everything they want out of life.

I think they would consider Victorville high desert and moval, perris and San Jacinto Riverside County. OG IE hoods are the cities who got into it with LA, SGV and Pomona hoods like Montclair, Ontario, Chino, Claremont at one time claim IE even if they were in the Pomona Valley, Fontana, Rialto, Riverside, San Bernardino all these other hoods are either too new or too far out in the boonies.

Count yourself lucky you never had to experience what other people had to endure which drove them there.
