Very much appreciated! It saved me having to pay someone to do it for me! I had very good luck using a cotter pin too to remove/replace the spring clip. No drama! 🙂

I love the no edit idea too! Very clear video. I bought a 10 year old Stihl HS45 for 130 euros and had to have it repaired for another 130. 5 minutes after running it stopped again and 10 minutes later the cord broke. Workplace says there is no warranty on any of it. I already bought a different stihl hedge cutter for work, but replace the rope myself and another piece that needs replacing, hoping to make up for some of this painfully wasted money (290 dollars)... your no edit video gave me the confidence I can do that! thank you for your great tutorial.

I am positive you can do it. The only probkem will be that your buddys will start bringing their tools to you to fix. Lol have a great day my friend!

Excellent tutorial, thanks. However, having seen your struggle putting back the clip I didn't disassemble that part, just fed the new cord through the hole in the case, lined the spinning spindle up and pushed the cord into it, twisted it a bit until its nose poked up and then pulled it through with thin pliers. Made it a lot easier, but your tips on the wind/unwind etc are great.
