  • From "Civilization IV"
Baba Yetu (Our Father in Swahili) is the title number of the computer game Civilization IV. Baba Yetu won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s), in 2011. This was also the first time that music from a video game had been nominated for a Grammy Award. This arrangement also contains an optional choir part, and has been beautifully arranged by Henk Ummels.
    Conducted by CBMus Alexandre Coelho
Recorded by Army Band - Oporto Detachment

To me this is by far the best arrangement of a very beautiful song. Although it differs in some parts to the original, I find those differenciations just make it work better for band. An absolute joy to play and listen to :)

This recording, I love everything about it: rich colors, tossing the tune around in the voices, and such a beautiful full sound that brings out the message of the lyrics =)

This is awesome. Is there any chance we could get this music without the choir parts?

I would love to purchase the music in mp3 format to add to my playlist! Is it possible?

Due to kids control Molenaar made a bad choice to make it available for kids. It was not possible to add the video's to a playlist. Now I made it "not suitable for kids" so, adding to a playlist is possible again!

Strange B natural aded in the sax section (alto, then tenor) Bar 70, 72, 74, 76 and not in the original harmony. This note particularly doesn't fit in the Cm on the 3rd beat. This note has even less purpose, since it is "covered" by the whole brass section ... Mistake ?...

I made this arrangement some time ago and I forgot why I added the maj7. It must have been on purpose because it can hardly be missed playing the file on the PC. I often like the maj7 to be honest, but, listening to the original, B natural to C would have been better, or else, I had to make it more important by adding it also in the brass. (it must have been my maj7 period) I think you can call it a mistake, although.. I never make mistakes, everybody knows.. :). Best regards, Henk Ummels

    Hi,
I would really like to use this file as negative for a solo in church.
May I use this song for this purpose?

Hi! No recording with choir. This would be nice though. If you perform with choir, please make a video or recording of it! We are very curious! :) Grtz, Henk Ummels (Arranger and Artistic director Molenaar Edition.
