I’m already impressed. This short snippet, you did her justice!! Now audiences will see what your real fans have seen for years. By the way I’ve heard you sing in person, absolutely amazing. 💜❤️💛💕
Girl. My bad, LOL. When I saw you said you saw her sing, I thought you would talk about Mahalia Jackson herself LOL LOL LOL! I was saying this checked on Holly look that old and I know black don't crack but my goodness Jesus did a good job on you LOL. You're welcome.
I can't wait to see this movie!! It's also good to see Columbus Short back as well, he deserves a second chance just like everyone else, and he's also an excellent actor. Congratulations Ledisi!!🙏🏽🙏🏽❤❤
I’m so excited about this film! Love, love, love Ledisi and Keith David. So happy someone gave Columbus Short a second chance. He’s an amazing actor. ❤️❤️❤️
@intriguing Woman His debut role was in Stomp the Yard in which is my favorite movie. He was a backup dancer for a few people. I think he was in You Got served as a dancer. After Stomp,it seems hellyweird really got to him where he was acting crazy and even threatening his wife and children. Though as usual in the media he was promoted as the crazy Black man that was difficult to work with. He was then outcastes and was dropped from the role in Scandal. What movie did you seen him in?
I was at the screening of this film at the Pan African Film Festival a few days ago and it's an absolutely beautiful film. And Ledisi's performance was understated and lovely. Her singing was so powerful and moving. I cried through several of the scenes. This is a wonderful tribute to an iconic black woman.
@@goldminds2899 I absolutely loved his portrayal of MLK Jr. He did not act like "an icon". His MLK felt like a kind hearted pastor who saw the need to step up against injustice. It was a beautiful, understated performance. He said in the talk the cast gave afterward that he'd wanted to play MLK for many years, and auditioned several times for the role in other movies, such as Selma, but each time didn't get it. He should have. But I'm glad he got it this time.
Columbus Short back y'all😭😭😭 AND He's playing Dr.King. This looks like it will be a good film. I know Ledisi takes her assignments seriously and will not dissappint. I also feel that The Mahalia Jackson story that was shared on Lifetime was highly underrated. I bawled my eyes out...had to have a moment with Jesus afterward.🤣 Either way, I'm glad her story is being told. Granny used to play her music throughout the house growing up.
To hear her sing trouble of the world brings a tear to my eye always. You must watch the summer of soul where she passed the torch to Mavis Staples. Mahalia was also like a Gd mother to Aretha Franklin
Already in my movie collection for years to come Mahalia Jackson played in my parents home as I was growing up and to see a artist such as Ledisi bring it to the bring screen for the entire world to know her story and legacy is a blessing among many🙏thank you Ledisi no other could have done it better
OG Keith David! Columbus Short kills every role. And Ms. Ledisi is divine:) Excited about this project/tribute to Mahalia Jackson.. def deserves for her story to be told.
Ms. Jackson was my Grandmothers favorite Gospel Singer (may all 3 continue to Rest In Peace). Now, of course, she is mine. “Nobody knows the trouble I see, but the LORD” AND “in the Upper Room”. Yes, Hallelujah, Amen!!!!!’n🙏🏽🙏🏽
I saw it on Hulu and I enjoyed it! Merry Christmas ⛄🎄 Go HUG someone today IF they're been vaccinated or not 🚫 Greet all the Christians with a Holy EMBRACE 1 Thessalonians 5 26 and do it responsibly Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕!
The trailer makes my anxiety to see all this for yesterday. Wow, what a powerful voice, I shivered all over. I wish one day I would be blessed to watch your show.
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc ooh sis.i felt to sleep on tht movie after 7mins.something about jhud i don't care for(no judgment though).I'll try to watch it in full later.
Yes! I'm here for it! I'm glad Ledisi was casted for this epic role. This role was made for her. With her powerful voice and Louisiana roots they finally got it right. 😊
I wonder if she is allowed to put the songs she sang on here. I would love to have at least "I must tell Jesus." On repeat or be able to listen when needed. 🥰
I remember being so upset when another singer song the song you sang on the MLK movie during the oscars. But look at good you didn’t just get on a soundtrack this time around you got your own movie 🥰
I LOVE Ledisi! But… Not understanding the need to sugarcoat that she was raised DIRT poor? Her early life was horrible, 13 people occupied that house in a very poor neighborhood. I get that this is what Hollywood does to movies but in this day and age tell the truth! That turned me off, and I watched the rest begrudgingly. That’s what makes her so inspiring, aside from that magnificent voice, the fact that she overcame abject poverty and was loved and revered internationally! She also didn’t look too great near the end of her life, she struggled with feelings of being taking advantage of, insecurity and loneliness…like most of us do. She deserves better than this, a FULL length biopic in the same vein as Ray, or Walk The Line. She was something wonderful!
Coming soon...isn't soon enough! Ledisi, Columbus and the rest of the cast look amazing...and her voice sounds as pristine as Mahalia's. She's one of my dad's all-time fav gospel singers - if the clip is any indication, the movie will be 🔥🔥🔥💖💖💖
I can’t wait to see it!! Love you Ledisi!! I have been a fan of yours since I first heard your voice on Autumn Leaves. You’re wonderful and deserve every GOOD thing. I wish you continued success and happiness💐💐💐
I WILL BE SEEING THIS MOVIE THE DAY IT COMES OUT. I LOVE A GOOD BIOPIC. SOME FOLKS DESERVE THEIR STORIES TO BE TOLD OVER & OVER. THE PREVIEW DOES LOOK PRETTY ICONIC.
When true historical stories are brought to life of our legacy of the intellect of powerful women it's a movie I will go and see and enjoy fully this short preview isn't enough great actors and actresses within this movie.
My maternal grandmother loved Mahalia, I'm 62 yrs, my grandmother died when I was 8, I remember grandmother sitting in the dark praying, listening to Mahalia Jackson. This movie is a long time coming.
So excited!! Mahalia is my deseased mom's nickname , she was an amazing blues singer here in Israel. I've admired mahalia Jackson since i was 6. And YOU Ladisi, blow my mind! What a perfect match!!!👑❤️
From Mahalia in Selma to a full biopic! Go Ledisi!
Wow! Congratulations Sis, you are so deserving of this. You are the perfect person to portray Mahalia ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Is this a second Mahalia movie?? Didn’t Danielle Brooks (from OITNB) play her?
Yes
I like that one
I’m so excited about this film! Love, love, love Ledisi and Keith David. So happy someone gave Columbus Short a second chance. He’s an amazing actor. ❤️❤️❤️
I am excited for Columbus as well, especially during a time when people are so quick to cancel you.
Amazing actor for sure! Any time he’s on screen, I KNOW he’ll deliver.
He really is impressing in this role. He almost was forgotten.
I am all for giving him a gig, but Martin Luther the king, not feeling it
