My grandfather owned one and a jag 3.8 mk 2. When we used to go on holiday to cape town from jhb driving in those cars was a total highlight. As an 11 year old. can still remember the smells of the cars. Lovely!!
Your W 108 in the Horizon Blue is a stunning beauty! It looks like the new owner will thoroughly enjoy this car. There is something to be said about that German Engineering!!
I have owned a 1973 280sel 4.5 for 45 years and they are a beautiful driving car. One finger on the bus size steering wheel at 125 MPH all day long .A wonderful team built car, very under appreciated in North America. Well worth a look at if a classic Mercedes is on your radar. No disappointments, if you can find a good one. Extremely undervalued.
Had 2 of them through the years, the 4.5 is a must! Still have a stash of parts since they are gaining value and/or if I ever get another one, it could go either way.
Interesting and nice car. I too have a W108 28O SE (1969/70) in the same colour, Horizon Blue. There is some money to be spent in that interior but the parts are at least available. Strange that it is a handful over 50 MPH - W108’s are very stable cars. Check the damper that sits above the differential- very likely worn or broken. A new one makes a world of difference.
I would love to have one , are they not to difficult to keep ? Friend of mine has one as a daily driver ! I would like to do that my self . Yours is beautiful !! Thank you !!
@@TABonTV Let the guy know if he needs anything for his 108 I come across a lot of decent used parts and not silly money. Im in California and would be happy to help a fellow Brit:) Cheers John.
For me the W108/109 Series is the most beautiful Sedan Benz ever made

I have owned a 280S for eight years and for me it's a keeper, a forever car, and I have never said that about any of my other automobile purchases.
Good on you! Keeping these great cars alive!
Stacked headlamps! Love it. 😍

Amazing W108/109 Benz 😊❤🎉
My fave vid of yours so far, but mainly because you finally featured a cool car. 😉
By far the coolest car ever to feature on the channel...

Thanks, will be sure he sees this!
Beautiful Car that’s a real true Benz
Old Mercedes (especially left hookers) are really cool, great looking and a real classic in the making
For sure, the attention this beauty was getting was insane!
Unfortunately the wooden window frames are missing.🙁
What a beautiful classic would love to own one but with a v8 for more effortless driving
Yeah - that would be a very smooth ride!
With the crazy car prices in the US post COVID, you sir picked up a really nice deal for 12K Pound Sterlings!
Yeah! A good investment for him!
@@TABonTV for sure.

Wow, column shift wasn't common on US market cars.
I thought the floor shifts were rarer... Good to know!

Nice one John! He's seen this so I'm sure he'll hook up if he needs to!
I have same car, even the color
run and drive, but bad interior and paint
Yes, but V8 4.5 is the car to have a 280S is a nono
There's no replacement for displacement
Twelve thousand pounds? I’m glad I don’t live in England.
Don't mention the weather too 😂
