Rod it is so good seeing you with almost 500k subscribers. I still think you should have well over a Million. Been watching your Videos religiously since about 40k. The people don’t know what they are missing. Ty for the years of enjoyment for all of your viewers. Please know that we appreciate you more than you know. Your the best by far. Cheers from the USA.
Yeah, this format is what initially caught my attention and keeps me coming back. I hope he does all the types of videos that make him happy, but I also hope he throws these in the mix from time to time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
How far you have come with your filming!! WHAT AMAZING FOOTAGE! So smooth and the areal shots on your travels were superb!🤙love everything that you do. Exceptional quality vid!!
The transitions between the drone and the diving were awesome filmwork!!! I love seeing my favorite RUclipsrs progress and get better and better at their craft. This is a perfect example. Rod, you’re such an awesome guy. Thanks for sharing this part of your life with us.
Hello from Alaska, I gotta admit bud I love your tinny that thing is a awesome fish expedition machine. Great job building it, I've loved seeing you turn it into this lil masterpiece 👏 ❤
Great video ones again! I do agree that a tent adds up to the whole feeling! On the boat is great for some trips but I really like the tent vibe! It makes the video complete for me
Rod, stop worrying about making an extravagant meal, nothing better then a simple fry up where you are, fresh from the fridge 😋, looks absolutely amazing 🤤
Put a bimini top on the boat and have a false floor piece made for the bow of the boat to make the platform bigger for when you camp. Just be sure to take that piece with you.
I use my hiking tarp for camping on the boat -couple of poles and a bit of thought. I use the same tarp for hunting in the high country. A ground sheet also of course. Plenty of ventilation and dozens of possibilities for a couple of hundred bucks. Kills several birds.
Seeing you struggle is so relatable. It's making me realise that mishaps and frustrating things happen to everyone and that it's not because there is something wrong with me.
I have missed this so much! You are simply amazing. What a beautiful choice of scenery you have on all your vlogs, but your underwater videos are freaking awesome!!! XOXO
Many years ago when I used to camp in the Florida Keys, at night we would put two anchors in opposite directions with plenty of scope, that way if the wind changed the skiff would be fine.
Man just watching how much you've progressed with your equipment, your filming, and your boats over the past few years has been incredible. My girl and I love watching your videos. The editing seems to just keep getting better and better, keep it up rod! :D
I like the frying pan modification! The frying pan handle normally creates so much "Dead space" when one tries to pack up for a trip. That one of yours is perfect
Absolutely! It looks purpose built for camping efficiency! My ADHD kept screaming for Rod to get a full sized pan for these trips despite him being 10 x the outdoorsman I am ! Hahaha
I love listening to that life on the reef (clicking) when your spearing... Again, another cool video. And again, Thank you for killing an hour of my Friday at work. ~Cheers
Rod, you are a true inspiration to others. Your engagement with us viewers is 2nd to none. You always say "we" as in you and us the viewers, its very difficult to actually believe you are on your own. Absolutely outstanding. As well as your filming!! Cannot fault it. Well Done Brother.
For zippers on tents and backpacks etc used regularly around salt, spraying a bit of wd40 or something like it on them every couple trips helps stop them from jamming up and corroding. Good for freeing up stuck ones too.
Great vid Rod, love your island camping episodes…That Corral Trout looked so good, I’ve never tried,..have to add that to my bucket list. Looking forward to day 2, Cheers! 🇨🇦
that small island is exactly what I imagine if I was beeing shipwrecked (or if I bought my own island), it°s really nice... just plant some tree and it would be like your own small planet...nice video
Next pass by, transplant more natuve flora to your little island. A shrubby tree species or three. You might not enjoy their shade, but your kids may one day.
Epic to see a new island vid! Been missing these camp catch and cooks. Not gonna lie, I'm stoked to see you rocking a long sleeve. Sun protection is a must and should be promoted more. Your family will thank you for it! Ive been wearing rash guards now and love em. Give them a try. Thanks for another great video Rod!
You are killin' it Rod! That coral trout was a beauty. I love the versatility of your adventures. Fishing, foraging from the ocean, spearing, foraging regional vegetation ( the prickly pears video was killer), how to facilitate water using litter while cleaning up the beach. You're a rockstar Dude!!! As much as I love the new rig (I mean... ridiculous!!!) I can't wait to see more with Misty also! Keep the vids coming Brother. I love 'em'!!!
It has been a bit since we have seen you. The sand cay looks cool and the water so inviting! Was a bit nervous about where you stashed the fish while you put up the tent - lol - thought you would return to the birds trying to lift it off and away! 😂 So nice to see you out and about, looking forward to more videos. Know that we enjoy them all and appreciate you sharing. 🥰😎
Just found this channel. Love this type of videos. This is one of my favorite ways to have an adventure. Solo survival. I'm not much of a cook. But I like to make desal stations and things like that.
Colorado? I hate to think how freezing cold it is there right now. Rod is in QLD and I'm in NSW. Still on the east coast and I know exactly where he is and how beautiful a place he lives in. The water is as warm as bath water, crisp and clear. The salt in the water cleans you from head to toe. You can go a month without a shower easily. With just an occasional dip in freshwater for the feel.
Rod, I’m enjoying your videos 10x more than searching for a film or series on HBO or Netflix, Disney, Amazon etc. Your videos are engaging, personal, practical, educational and very personal too. As well as giving me the ‘escapism’ that I long for as a South African living in Scandifkknavia 😅 Keep it up, bro. And THANKS A MILL!! 👊🏻🤟🏻
Tuning in from Florida in the states. I love your channel mate. Everything about what you do i killer!!! Wish i had more islands more accessible to me by small boat. Safe travels !!! Keep the travel and edits comming! YEWWWWW
Great vid as always Rod, when filleting your fish half fillet one side then turn the fish over and fully fillet the other side, makes filleting much easier 😀 👍
Welcome Rod to boat ownership of a boat that you can't just drag onto a beach! LOL. I've had boats like your new one and in big tides, you have to rig up a pulley system whereby you can pull the boat in or out depending on the tide. It requires a rear anchor, and two swivel, and two pulleys that can withstand a lot of abuse from waves and tides. You put the front anchor on the beach and just pull the boat in or out as required. P.S. It's spelt "'CAYE"'
Another awesome video!! Love how you switch things up and how much information you always give. I always learn something useful. Look forward to doing those things soon. Keep it up if you can and still enjoy it.
awesome sir, beautiful sand island, a place to cool off from the bustle of the world. I hope you can come on vacation again to remote islands in Indonesia
Hey Rod, what an awesome video once again, I bet ur loving the new boat, cant wait to see the new adventures you go on mate, thanks for sharing the fun times and adventures you go on 🤘🤘
You never disappoint mate, awesome! You got a real talent for making these adventures interesting! And what a beautiful trout. Best vid with the new boat so far!
Neat seeing the camp site on the cay. Where’s your sailboat or did I miss you commenting on it. Love your scenery as right now it’s minus 32 outside here in Manitoba 🇨🇦
So its whole new challenges!!..you used to put wheels down on the boat...and drag it up !!..it's a conundrum buddy!!...bigger, better boat!..no dragging..it's a whole new world you must figure out as we watch!!…Stay Safe!!!! We love you my Friend!!!
Love the vids Rod. Always gives me that warm summer feeling when I watch them. Especially since I live on this cold little island of Ireland. 🤣 Great content pal. Watching you cook that fish up definitely gets the taste buds going. Well done pal. 👍👍👍
That Stabicraft looks great Rod! Those high sides can handle a lot of chop. Looks impressively built! A 14ft is kind of a perfect size and with a 40hp it must fly
+RoKKiT KiT after your trips do you hose down your tent? to make sure there is no salt left on the zipers and ziper locker? same goes for rods. salt destroy a lot. really fast.
Wow man, I feel like I’ve learnt heeps from this vid. Fully inspired to buy a boat this year n do some missions. The spear fishing is awesome, something I’ve never tried before but that trout is sooo worth it. Super awesome bro , just gets better an better. That sand cay!!! Just insane
Hmmm, green is the colour that collects most heat from the sun of all the colours we have so that might not be optimal for a tent on a little sandbank like that.
I was wondering if we were going to get another camping vid. But then I remembered it may have been so long since it was winter in your part of the world haha. I'm in the States. Love your channel.
That Trout was the ocean giving you some love mate, lost a Stripey that you would have been quite happy with and was bummed about it getting away and then next minute you stoned a nice Trout.
you know you should make your own tent, the thing i love about this channel is how primal and down to earth it makes me think and feel. it might be the genre of video but i have been thinking and the best stuff is stuff that lasts and you can make yourself, granted money time and material experiance as well as craftsmanship is what i supose gate keeps most, i do hope you find a shelter that matches your epic survival persona
Rod it is so good seeing you with almost 500k subscribers. I still think you should have well over a Million. Been watching your Videos religiously since about 40k. John he's been my favorite for years too! I like the solo trips the most.
Agreed! I miss some of the yak stuff sometimes…
I'd be thrilled to get a mac tuna! (My dream is a big salmon!)
@@ElkinsEric loved the kayak stuff as well

So good to see a solo camping vid on the channel again! Keep them coming Rod 👌🏼
Yeah, this format is what initially caught my attention and keeps me coming back. I hope he does all the types of videos that make him happy, but I also hope he throws these in the mix from time to time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I love that the single fish makes the whole day a victory. Absolutely all about quality.
It makes the video complete for me
Yea I’ll have to pick the spots for tent and space them out… as you will see in part 2😅
@@rokkitkit can you just post part 2 now? Woke up this morning hoping it landed overnight.
Rod, stop worrying about making an extravagant meal, nothing better then a simple fry up where you are, fresh from the fridge 😋, looks absolutely amazing 🤤
Good to see you upload, Rod. :) Your new boat looks like it's really been a game changer. You deserve it, man. :)
I'm bad jealous of that little rig. It looks perfect for his ramblings. Even has room for his little family and gear.
@@flysubcompact yeah man I was just thinking of a way I'd set up a tent in it with a cot.
I forget just watching these videos how cool life is the beauty the planet holds for one to discover.
Many thanks for the upload.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This intro is one of my favorites! i think this is gonna be a favorite video for me just for that!
Put a bimini top on the boat and have a false floor piece made for the bow of the boat to make the platform bigger for when you camp. Just be sure to take that piece with you.
Your island survival videos are so entertaining. They’re rich with content with great narration.
I use my hiking tarp for camping on the boat -couple of poles and a bit of thought. I use the same tarp for hunting in the high country. A ground sheet also of course. Plenty of ventilation and dozens of possibilities for a couple of hundred bucks. Kills several birds.
Glad to see the camping videos back 😁

Try the quick pop up thent. Packed reasonably small and it's really easy to set up

hi rod first time for me leaving a comment. Love your channel!!
Especially the underwater scenes.

Just buy tents with big plastic zippers. Who's got the time to maintain stuff nowadays?
one of the best solo camping channels!
Great video mate. Keep them coming🍻✌️🎣

I could only wish to do something like this for a living, looks like the right way to live life to the fullest. Love your vids!
Thanks!
Thanks Wyntar🤙
The contrast of the solitude of a sand kay and the gourmet meal makes me giddy...beautiful torture and top entertainment all at once!
Ooo the intro! Been a while since you did one of these. Reminds me of some of the early days kayak vids - busting through surf to some great music!
Next pass by, transplant more natuve flora to your little island. A shrubby tree species or three. You might not enjoy their shade, but your kids may one day.
👍👍

Love that handle on the frying pan Rod.. Long handles are a pain when you're packing light or pushed for space..👍

You can buy those wax blocks that you can rub on your zips to prevent corrosion. Also works if there are small leaks.
