I bought one of these readers in anticipation of building a new PC with TB 4 ports. The reader doesn't seem to work. I've updated all the mobo drivers with no luck. Is your port TB 3 or 4? Or any ideas what the issue might be?

I use the same reader and use Lexar 2000× sd cards, the card is warm if anything but not hot at all, now when I had a cheaper card readers, it would always come out super hot, so that was a big factor for me.

How would the magnet impact the hard disc if you stick it to the side of your rig?

If it's not directly next to the hard drive, it should be fine.
