    Yes, you can make i-cords in different ways. What is nice is when people are willing to make videos to teach me and I can learn the way I like best - or do all the different ways whenever I choose!
    Thank you! I just practiced your way and it's fun.

    As brasileiras precisam aprender a ensinar como você. Elas são maravilhosas no crochê. Mas para ensinar fazem tudo muito rápido. Pessoas com grande nível de dificuldade como eu sofrem para aprender. Mesmo pausando o vídeo. Mas o seu vídeo está maravilhoso 😍😍😍 parabéns pelo modo como ensina. Com calma, e com jeito.

    Thanks so much for this! I don't crochet and I knit just a little, but I found this way to crochet I-Cord to be far easier than knitting it! I've just made 10.5 yards of jumbo i-cord (made using "Country Loom" yarn and a 6.5 mm hook) in a couple of hours. For those who mention "why not use the little crank machine", I would point out that you can only use up to size 3 yarn on those and so can only make relatively thin i-cords. The I-cord I just made using this technique used size 6 jumbo yarn and the resulting i-cord is about an inch in diameter! I think I'm going to make a bunch of this size and use about 60 yards to make a big, arm knit pouf! The arm knitting part will only take 30 mins or so, so the time investment will be in making the i-cord, but it's well worth the time invested... :)

    As a long time hooker, I have come to hate having to make ribbing for my projects. Instead, if making a sweater, I crochet an I cord longer than needed & build the panels off of that. I have even created I cord with 15 stitches instead of 3, and build the panel from the icord, but catching both edges, which gave me a tube around the bottom of the sweater to insert a drawstring. It's quite versatile.

    It doesn’t “look like a crochet chain” The crochet chain LOOKS LIKE A KNIT STITCH! Which is why knitters try their hand at crochet because it can be made to resemble knitting. No one wants to crochet because it looks like crochet.

    • @planetjune
      @planetjune  Год назад

      This video is aimed at crocheters, who may well have a different opinion from you - and that's okay! I suspect any knitter who "tries their hand at crochet because it can be made to resemble knitting" will be sorely disappointed - knitting does that job much better! I'd say that the real strength of crochet is in what it can do *differently* from knitting, and I love both crafts for different purposes.

      You can make a wider i-cord tube by starting with more chains and dropping all but one loops off the hook, but I’d recommend you don’t go too wide, as it’s easier to accidentally pull out one of the dropped loops when you have more of them in play. I’d recommend you stick with a 3-ch or 4-ch crocheted i-cord. For anything wider than that, make a sc spiral (or learn to knit it on double pointed needles).

    I use this for my starter chain on more difficult projects, like trying to work with small fluffy yarn. It's hard to see exactly where to put the hook with a regular starter chain. This makes is super easy and gives it a nice edge even with shells.

  • @dollywilson3395
    @dollywilson3395 3 года назад

    I’m sorry, but your instruction is not correct. I couldn’t figure out why I was having trouble while listening and trying to do what you say. You are not doing a chain one as you put the stitches back on the hook. You are merely drawing a loop up. The only time you are correctly saying to chain one is when you have all three on the hook and are dropping the two off and then do a chain one.

    • @planetjune
      @planetjune  3 года назад

      No need to apologise - this whole technique is unconventional, as it's basically knitting an icord, but with a crochet hook! You'll be keeping previously worked stitches on your hook while you work other stitches. 'Yarn over and draw up a loop through the loop already on your hook' is the definition of a chain one - you just need to ignore the other stitch(es) you already worked as you proceed along each row :)
