From interviews, I think the way Kevin Parker avoids a 'Jack of all trades; master of none' situation is he gets into situations where he has hard deadlines to make an album, and pours sounds and ideas he's been passively gathering of a similar feel into creating almost a gallery of art pieces for that showing. Then he takes a break from that, and eventually moves on to building the next gallery showing with a new deadline. I have struggled in the past with being really good at many things but a 'master of none'... my route led to getting a PhD and finding a cross-discipline area at the interface between multiple cool things that I could master while still being sneakily doing multiple things, and I'm also super deadline driven where I do very little for days and days and then have long chunks of inspired brilliance. Just some rambling thoughts from a fan with similar music tastes! Have a good one.
