What I notice no one is talking about is how Mel+Caitlyn vs Ambessa is literally referencing ADC being peeled by their Support while they fight a Fed Top Laner lmao
Except it's unrealistic, ambessa would've destroyed them in a second, and then both and cait and mel would've insulted their junglers, and surrendered instantly
He was the first character designed for LoL right? Makes sense they'd make him be at the heart of everything- although crazy he won the most and also affected the world the most but had the least screen time out of all the main characters, less than even Isha! But they made every second he was on screen count

@@thewarriorreturns9179oh yeah, the writing in season 2 was trash. Arcane season 2 is my game of thrones season 8. So many massive plot holes, retcons, and making characters stupid for the sake of plot.
I'm pretty sure even Heimerdinger disagrees with you... not hating magic was literally Heimerdinger's character development arc if he still feared magic he would have never been able to help ekko make the time machine Jace and Viktor showed him that magic could be used for good, safely.
Her betrayal never came ot of nowhere for me, and it's 4 points in the story where Maddie is present that I felt something was off. 1. She was too happy about Cait becoming commander and the martial law was introduced. Coincidentally, she was the only enforcer who seemed happy about it. People said she may just be young and naive, but I never bought that. She was still an enforcer at the end of the day. 2. The bed scene with Cait. When Maddie was giving ''advice'' to Cait. I saw that as Maddie maybe could have used that in a way to gauge Caits loyalty to Ambessa for Ambessa. Why I thought that is because point 1. 3. In episode 4 when Cait and Maddie are at Caits mothers statue, in the ending of that scene Maddie looks away from Cait. People said they believed it could have been a breakup between them beforehand (offscreen) that made Maddie look away like that. But when i look at Maddies eyes in that scene, I see ''guilt'' or ''anger'', not sadness. 4. In episode 9, we can see that Maddie does flip with the bomb, not what she does exactly, but that she does something. There may be more things that I missed. But these where times that made me suspect her. And yes, I did personally not get that Ambessa meant Maddie in that one scene.
Well I won't stop saying one thing: The trio of Ekko, Heimer and Powder are insanely ingenious. The came up with time travel in such a short span while Viktor needed multiple timelines to figure out what rune will stop the hextech corruption. They had such an amazing development as well - Powder realizing her full potential, Heimer giving it his all without holding back and even going as far as sacrificing himself to help his dear student and timeline and finally Ekko choosing to return which resulted in him saving the world. Such a cool detail was that this final battle is in a sense a throwback to his champion trailer "Seconds". Viktor needed all the time in world to fix his mistakes but Ekko? He needed just seconds
As an Ekko fan I was worried how they would handle the Z-Drive and that they wouldn't make it his own creation anymore. And while he did collaborate with the others, I like how they showed more than once that it was Ekko's ideas driving the project, and he was the one to figure out the key elements to making time travel work. I think they handled it pretty well
Its true that Ekko was the one that was pushing the project and the idea, but if you pay close attention you can see that Heimer was the one to really make the project and Ekko and Powder were more like assistant. Which also translate perfectly into the lore of Heimer being one of the smartest people alive in Runeterra. Honestly seeing this scene of Heimer being excited and going into invention and projects made me release how above he is of Viktor and jayce. He created a time machine in weeks. Goated character
24:45 Dude, the ''warship'' is just Jinx's home/lab/hideout. We've seen it so many times over the length of the show, we just never realized it was/could be a balloon.
I seriously lost my mind when someone pointed this out to me! Like?? Damn she really did just pick up and move her entire bedroom / hideout into the fight lol
Yeah but she tuned it with paint and easter eggs, the whole city became a battlefield and they were just spraying graffiti meanwhile. The obvious missing scene of Ekko and Jinx ironing things out would make a difference
Wait, i had a different interpretation of episode 7 missing hextech, in my head when vi and the crew did the job in jayce's lab, the explosion killed vi, marcus was even shown to be shocked by the view, so simply hextech was never pursued in fear of it's danger.
That makes more sense then his explanation, but it would be very out of character for Piltoverans to care more about the life of a Zaunite than a whole-ass residential building in Piltover. And it's extra weird because in the original story they DID initially stop Jayce from pursuing it because of the damage it caused, but eventually their greed took over. Why would any of that be different?
Yep. That's what I thought. Jayce was probably banished. Silco must have found Vander's letter much earlier too. Otherwise he would have already been working on Shimmer. Heimerdinger being there for 3 years will probably have helped with integrating the two sides as well. He'll have come in with a better understanding of how things actually were for the Undercity.
@@jogadorjnc Well, again this is only in my head, my explanation is that in "our" universe the explosion happenned but nobody died, so jayce could argue that it happenned because of an accidental misshandling of the stones or whatever, but the damage was only to inanimate objects; On the other hand a child straight up died and was found in the arms of her little sister, so not only he was studying "Illegal" stuff, that stuff also caused a death, so it wouldn't sit right both with the council and at least personally, it woudln't sit right with jayce himself! Plus if jayce never recieved the fragment, why did ekko find little fragments embed with the wall, why did Powder still have multiple hex stones?
@@cangaroojack Yea, it makes no sense, it's just a plot hole They could have patched the hole out if they had more time, but they really needed the avengers to assemble in episode 9
7:00 I think you missed that at the end of the episode Powder had the prototype unstable gems… my interpretation is that it was an universe where Viktor did give Jayce one of the gems with a different rune, which butterflies into Silco getting the letter, Vi dying at the job, and Hextech and shimmer never existing

7:01 I don't think this is a universe where Viktor never gave the gem to Jayce and the Piltolver lab belonged to someone else. Remember that after the explosion in the original timeline, Jayce was put on trial for the potential dangers of his experiments but managed to get away and continue working on hextech. I think that in the alternate timeline Jayce’s trial resulted in a conviction because there a child got killed. This would explain why hextech never came to be, as it was definitively proven to be dangerous and everyone in the council, including Mel, rejected the idea.
ep7 is a 10/10 for me just amazing only problem with this season for me is the phasing from uniting and creating zaun to fighting victor and noxus maybe if they made the hexcore more of a threat instead of showing the firelights tree corrupting instead they could have showed it corrupting people and more of the area like it did in the ep7 with jayce all and all top tier show (would get alzheimers just to watch it again)
the show was amazing, but really could use one or two more episodes to flesh out some details. Cait and Ambessa "falling out" was a bit too rushed considering how eager she was for revenge, Ekko and Jinx convincing Zaunites to join them could use a bit of screentime after they refused to help Jayce, etc. ep 7 was perfect tho
@@mformotivation9152 Eh, i think the betrayal of cait makes perfect sense. Throughout all of act 3 she outright fights or disagrees with ambessa and seems pretty reluctant to follow her
One scene that was short but very powerful was Cait and Jinx interacting in the prison. First time they had an one on one and the way Cait says "good deeds can't undo OUR crimes" was really so expressive for both of their arcs - condemning Jinx and herself for their actions but also letting go of the hatred and moving forward.
thats not going to happen. They said they are finished telling the stories of these characters and want to explore other reigons and other characters/stories.
@@PatriciaRodrigues-bt6wz and they also explained what I said. I believe that implies we will be seeing characters that interact with said new stories (such as mel, leblanc etc. for noxus).

@takedownmstr5300 in my opinion, it wasn't really a finale. Since more stories are coming up, we MIGHT see stories of the characters that haven't been finished yet. Like getting more details on Ambessa, Mel, Singed in noxus. Maybe we'll see Jinx again in a whole different region (maybe as a minor character) in the future. Even now we don't fully know what happened to Viktor and Jayce. We could get one in the future. We could have a story about yordles which would start up heimer's story again. Truly. My emotions and expectations were destroyed during Act2 that's Vander flashback was illegal. And Ep7 was beautiful I can live in the world and enjoy the soundtrack again 😂
As a 10 years League of Legends players i dont really mind they have changed the lore in Arcane, because to me the entire roaster doesnt make any sense in the first place. So i took it as it is, a story with cool champs from my game.
True and based. I don’t get how people are so “attached” to league’s lore. It’s just some random character having random stories they pulled out of their ass years ago. Now finally with Arcane its getting depth.
@@Blubking1it's been around for a long time so I get the attachment, but it's a mess.. like how are you gonna justify someone like Shaco existing as he is now? It needs to be cleaned up and there needs to be a unified narrative direction.
One thing about the Z-drive damaging Viktor that I thought was different than what Necrit pointed out, but I could also be wrong: Instead of just blowing up and damaging Viktor, it actually seemed like it "Rewound" the part of Viktor that it came in contact with (The same way it rewinds Ekko) and since it hit him in the head, it gave him back some of his emotions, returning some part of Viktor to before the "process". It doesn't mean much but if its what it's meant to be I thought it was a nice twist instead of it just being damage that shook Viktor free of his apathy or whatever.
Am I the only one disappointed that Vi's first thought when Cailtyn freed her was to have sex in the prison when Jinx had just announced her suicide to her earlier? I genuinely don't understand why people don't mention this in reviews I watch of the show. Don't tell me Vi didn't know what Jinx meant, she had just lost Isha and the sisters had a much closer relationship at that point... that, to me, failed to be a good character choice and made it hard to be engaged after that since things felt rushed and forced

Episode 7 is the best to me, both seasons. It's the only one that's slow, takes it time and shows us both what could have been and what could be, and that's the theme of season 1 and season 2. The Ekko and Jinx moments are amazing, especially considering you have a French song there from one of if not the best French speaking songwriter (Stromae, who's pretty much retired btw), with amazing lyrics. And switching from those genuine moments of joy to Jayce's survival and vision of the future. You could even go really far and say that the "what could have been" scenes are the shimmer that we, as viewers, get addicted to, because we only want to see this, and not the alternate reality of Jayce that make up the rest of the episode.
Another note to take about jinx is when she looks into vandars eyes at the end, the flashbacks are only from vandars perspective as every scene eitehr jinx and vi are asleep or just not there. Meaning this was vandars life flashing before the viewers eyes, not jinxs. This is another cinimatic tactic use to show someones life dissapearing. This confirms that this last final scene was about vandar going away not jinx. Another piece of evidence that jinx is still alive and will never leave vi
After Isha's sacrifice they already show us very clearly that the last parts of Vander left in Warwick are burned away. How I interpreted that footage of Vander putting the sisters to bed was that it serves to illustrate the family unit (Vander, Vi and Powder) and with Vander already gone and now the sisters parting, Vander blows out the candle to signify the final ending of the family ...
for your detailled analysis: when jinx blows herself and warwick up at the end, when the explosion goes off you can see a pink energy line that always happens when jinx uses shimmer speed. You could guess that she escaped.
I suggest you watch the beginning of episode 9 again. Jinx uses the monkey bomb several times and each time it starts with purple lights. They also show at the very start the the device was created using Chemtech (green), Hextexh (blue) and Shimmer (purple!). (edit: changed purple flashes to purple lights because apparently it was confusing)

@@valentinbezdan570 Did you watch the explosions I mentioned and paused ? I described it as purple flashes, but they are Shimmer lights like the ones that come from Jinx's eyes. Just watch it already, there's at least 1 of them where it's also a straight beam of purple ...
Totally agree, if you actually think about it from the story perspective, not much is happening. Ekko is trying to get back and experiences what could have been. But man that episode hit a new peak, it is THE best episode I have seen from any show ever.
Two main criticisms. 1. They abandoned the central conflict in act 3, Piltover VS Zaun took a backseat to "Everyone VS God + Army", which made it feel disconnected from the previous narrative. 2. The final episode was not nearly as character driven as the story up to that point, everyone served the "grand epic battle" plot, there wasn't very much nuanced emotion and character experience. I'd say 6,5/10 ending, not bad, but it just hurts for a show as legendary as Arcane.
Its hilarious that season 2 started with Jinx blowing up the council, only for both Piltover and Zaun to forget about it later. If Sevika found out Jinx killed Silco and that he almost had a deal with Piltover, her reaction would be way different. Hell, most of Zaun wouldnt treat Jinx as a symbol if they found out that Jinx is responsible for keeping them at conflict with Piltover (by breaking the potential deal with Silco) and responsible for Ambessa bringing martial law to all of Zaun. They completely skip all those elements just so that Vi and Jinx can meet up with Vander faster.
I completely agree. I feel like act 3 needed to be its own season to really flesh out the ideas and give season 2 breathing room. They could’ve added more to season 2 and ended it with what’s happens with Isha leading into a season 3. By the end of act 3 we’re so far removed from how the season started that it feels like a completely different show. I still feel like they did well considering how much they had to cram into a small amount of time. But I think this would’ve solved a lot of issues. S1 still a masterpiece S2 is like a 7 or 8 out of 10 for me
Episodes 8 and 9 did feel rushed. Every single episode of the show before those I felt like I was keeping up fine with the story, piecing things together, and feeling smart about it. But episodes 8 and 9 of S2 just made me feel whiplash and like I'd been left behind
The problem is that Riot has proven time and time again over all these years that they don't care about lore and maintaining a cohesive canon, them saying they're going to fix everything is something we literally have no reason to believe, League has already had a major retcon before and there are a lot of champions that haven't been updated for the new lore and we're already getting ANOTHER retcon. Not even popular champions are guaranteed to receive an update, Miss Fortune was one of the main protagonists in the Ruined King gams, where we saw her being a real character, but in LoL she just laughs, moans and talks to the summoner and no one at Riot talks about a visual rework for her like Cait had (which was done with Arcane in mind, but is already outdated since Cait lost an eye and in LoL she has both without any scars). We still don't know which of the three or four versions of Sentinels of Light is the canonical one and all of this happened more than 4 or 5 years ago, for God's sake. So no, the concern about canon and lore didn't end with the interview because, honestly, the word of anyone at Riot about lore is completely empty and worthless until we see something on screen and even then I'll still be worried that something more popular will come along and a new retcon will happen and you, more than anyone, should know that.
7:07 Counter theory: In the blast both Vi and Jayce were caught. Jayce never shares the dream of hextech with Viktor. But the only trouble I have with this episode is that at the end Alt Powder has gemstones as a keepsake. HOW COME THEY WERE NOT CONFISCATED? IT SEEMED LIKE THEY WERE ABOUT TO BE ARRESTED AT THE SCENE!
Ekko was so impressive in terms of combat. He literally has 4 seconds to think about his next move. He fights again while processing his mistakes again and again until he succeeds.
I cried so much watching this series, but not during the final episode. Yeah, now i understand how it actually ends with that airship flying away.. but.. i still can't feel, that i can say goodbye to the characters. Season 2 was so quick, bang bang bang, i thought it needs 2 more episodes in that tempo, to show me more. I just want more, that's it. Not a new show, not a spinoff, more of Vi, Caitlyn, Victor, Jayce, Powder/Jinx, Ekko and Mel.. I feel like some part of me had gone with "Arcane".. and don't know how to fill it now.

Arcane has been the best journey I discovered since last year & the best finale of a series I’ve seen in a long while. I’ve never seen/played LoL (I only know it’s a game that my language group mate & teacher both plays) but I feel impacted by Arcane in great ways unrelated to the game (not to even mention the music used which has turned some of my choices around)
The major problem with season 2 is that it went from being so down to earth to becoming abstract with apocalypse and magic etc. This is wrong in itself. Promises and payoffs. The entire tone of Arcane is that it's practical and down to earth with hints of magic and larger concepts outside the story which also gives a feeling of a vast world. They should have completely skipped the story around the anomaly and The Arcane. (I don’t care that it’s in the name). These are concepts and things that never get explained, are confusing, destroy already established lore and diminish the significance of other things while taking time away from other elements. The story around the Black Rose could have been hinted at behind the scenes without having any major significance for Arcane's story. It should only be hints. Which could be developed in the next project about Noxus. It would give the feeling of a larger world without taking away Arcane's down-to-earth feeling. And it would have made the viewer interested in potential future projects. What should the story have been about? The conflict between the two social classes! What the story was about in season 1 and what was built up to be expanded in season 2. The entire season 1 built up for the great conflict between Piltover and Zaun. And that's what the story should have focused on in season 2. With focus on the characters and their relationships as they need to deal with the harsh reality. That's what grips the viewer. How would I have structured the story for season 2? With a great war and conflict between Piltover and Zaun that develops throughout the season to then get a heartbreaking and impactful ending to the story between the different characters we have followed, but still leaves the larger overarching story with the conflict between Piltover and Zaun open and active. This keeps the world open and alive with possibilities for all other stories that can take place with other characters in Piltover and Zaun, while still getting a clear ending to the current story that played out in Arcane. What would that story have been? Okay, Jinx has just attacked the council and killed Caitlyn's mother and several leaders. Episodes 1-3 act 1 are perfect and build on this so nicely. The only change I would have made is that I would have skipped Isha completely. Instead, I would have dived deeper into Jinx's madness and instability that was so beautifully built up during season 1. I imagine Jinx really embracing the identity of Jinx and carrying out resistance against Piltover with full force through acts of terror and attacks. She's really a madwoman and villain, where her good side sometimes leaks through. These continued attacks from Jinx and some from the barons lead to Caitlyn becoming a dictator etc. I imagine that the hatred among Piltover's people should be through the roof. Especially if Jinx and people from Zaun carried out attacks and acts of terror that killed people in Piltover, maybe Jayce's mother too? This could pressure and force Jayce to use Hextech to equip the military. In other words, build on Jayce's hard side from season 1. Especially considering the anger he would feel after losing his mother. But also that he would likely have given up hope for peace considering they responded to the peace proposal with an act of terror in season 1 ep 9. Piltover's cruel response against Zaun would create tensions in relationships. Vi would leave Cait in the same way because of a fight and to be with her people. She can have her full drinking/fighting period with the big police guy. But then maybe she teams up with the Firelights who try to help the population in Zaun and resist Jinx and the other actors who commit terror attacks against Piltover. She and the Firelights try to find a peaceful solution with well-meaning/peace-oriented people within Piltover. Meanwhile, Piltover's brutality against Zaun and Jinx's active counterattacks with acts of terror lead to the Jinx cult being created. The group that follows Jinx and also wants to resist. Much more reasonable that this group is created if Jinx is actually an active party attacking Piltover! Then focus can also be on the Chem Barons. How these people and groups fight more directly against Piltover. Maybe we see the beginning of Renata Glass? In other words, Jinx and her followers stand for more chaotic resistance against Piltover with terror attacks and spontaneous attacks. While the barons represent Zaun's more structured resistance with troops and soldiers. Much better than just killing them off in some music videos. When it comes to Jayce and Victor, I think their conflict could have become so much better in this story. First of all, the conflict begins with Jayce supporting Piltover and providing them with Hextech weapons. Victor survives and realizes how to use Hextech to survive and to help others. Help via Hextech as a technical invention, not as some magical Jesus thing. I envision how Victor leaves Jayce and Piltover due to the conflict created when Jayce supports the offensive against Zaun. Maybe Victor saves some people from Zaun, maybe some supporters of Jinx, by giving them robot parts improved via his new Hextech knowledge. Then it turns out that these robot parts/improvements were used by Jinx's supporters to carry out additional terror attacks against Piltover, maybe this is when Jayce's mother dies? In other words because Victor is to blame, which Jayce understands because he recognizes the technology from Victor. This would have been the perfect catalyst for Victor's conviction about the glorious evolution. Because he realizes that humans are flawed, both Jayce and those he saved use Hextech as weapons and are all completely wrong. Solution: to remove the human factor from his robot improvements. So Victor doesn't just turn body parts into more robots when he saves them. He makes their minds and feelings more robot-like with his technology, something he's already done to himself. Glorious evolution!
The story with Warwick still has much potential. Similarly, the story with Ambessa and the Noxus invasion. I think that Singed should have created Warwick. His goal is to stop death and save Orianna etc. But one change I would like to make is that he actually works for the Chem Barons. And they finance his work because they hope he can develop stronger weapons they can use against Piltover. They hope, for example, that they can use Warwick against Piltover. Additionally, Singed should have several other researchers who are employed by the Chem Barons to learn from Singed. This opens up possibilities for more researchers who exist in Zaun and who might later create Mundo, Zac, or Urgot etc. I think later that Singed might be captured during a raid from Piltover. This causes him to activate Warwick in the same way as what happened in the series, just that now there's a reasonable explanation. Warwick is intended to be used as a weapon against Piltover. Moreover, maybe Singed wants to activate Warwick to protect his lab/Orianna from Piltover etc. Meanwhile, maybe Jinx is planning some attack on the prison to kill masses of Piltover people and free prisoners. Vi is there with Firelights to stop Jinx because she will kill several Zaun people simultaneously through the attack. Shows how Jinx is insane. Then the attack from Warwick happens and Jinx is there fighting and then sees Vander. This should disturb Jinx's fanatical state. Maybe she comes back somehow? Vi should probably see this. But she's the only one who sees it. Piltover's people, Cait and Firelights with Ekko etc. should still see Jinx as a major enemy. Singed should later be recruited by Ambessa. Meanwhile, Cait is slowly getting tired of her dictator role and all the death. She is slowly getting tired of Ambessa and no longer wants to cooperate with Noxus. This could be done via dialog and meetings with Mel that is still in Piltover in my version. They are both tired of all the violence and hatred. And Cait maybe gets closer to Vi and Ekko again. Similarly, Jayce starts doubting himself and the violence. He hears about Victor's work of "saving" people by making them more robot-like. He wants to save Victor from this robot state he seems to have put himself in. Jayce maybe comes down to Victor's lab where Victor appears to be doing very inhuman things with people. This causes Jayce to stop everything to end their suffering. This leads to them all dying. A scene from the old lore. If you know you know. I think the season could end with the conflict against Noxus becoming larger. It's Noxus troops that hit hardest against Zaun. So Zaun is against Noxus and Ambessa. Meanwhile, a confrontation arises between Piltover and Noxus. This results in Ambessa being forced to leave Piltover with her troops. I still want to argue that Piltover and then also Mel (who isn't stuck in Black Rose story) have more soldiers etc. in their city to drive away Ambessa. This leads to Ambessa preparing her entire army for an invasion instead, I think that in smaller scenes throughout the season you can have seen how she prepared the whole army for a major invasion in case her collaboration with Cait ends. These scenes are also where we could have gotten hints about the Black Rose. Meanwhile, Ekko and Heimer have researched the Z-drive. Similarly, Jayce builds and creates more and more Hextech weapons. But he realizes they can be improved with Victor's help. So he gets help from Victor even though Victor is increasingly robot-like. Jayce wants to reconcile with Victor, but Victor is more robot pragmatic and only helps because it is reasonable. Then the great battle begins. Noxus invades and attacks both Piltover and Zaun. Which results in both parties being forced to fight against Noxus and defend themselves. Goes tough for them. Noxus is strong. This is also where they have a scene between Jinx, Vi, and Warwick in a similar way to what was in the season ending (but better and more credible). That Jinx sacrifices herself in some way. They fail to save Vander, because of something Singed did or so. So Jinx sacrifices herself in a similar way as Isha did to save Vi, Cait, Jayce, and Ekko. Her redemption. Then the battle against Noxus continues. They appear to be losing until Jayce and Victor's improved inventions and Ekko's Z-drive turn the battlefield. Ambessa maybe dies, or not. Maybe she is forced to flee. But overall Piltover and Zaun manage to defend themselves from Noxus. Final scenes. See how Jayce tries to reach out to Victor after the victory. But Victor seems to be too far gone in his glorious evolution. They go separate ways. Jinx is presumed dead, but probably isn't. Warwick is to be taken by Singed who makes the final transformation of him. Show Orianna and that Singed works under Noxus now. Vi is together with Cait and they work together with the Firelights to try to create more order and collaboration between Piltover and Zaun. Meanwhile, you see how certain houses in Piltover haven't given up on the conflict between Piltover and Zaun and they don't support Cait's and Vi's ambition peace, maybe Camille's house? Similarly, we can see in Zaun that several Chem Barons are dead in Zaun after the battle against Noxus, but maybe a scene hinting at Renata Glass and future chem baron activity. Similarly, a scene showing that Zaun is still a wild place. Several of the doctors who worked under Singed remain etc. Shows that this story is over, but the larger story between Piltover and Zaun continues. Similarly, a scene from Ambessa that teases the conflict in Noxus which will likely be the next project for Riot.
The monster you created is so relevant the convergence universe when it says "Why don't you love who I am? What we could have been" ekko is so unable to love jinx for who she was and could only imagine what she could have been until they send him to the other jinx
“Welp” is about the reaction I had too. RIP Warwick Edit- It doesn't matter if he's dead or not, he deserved better. The Warwick fans are probably dead tho lol
My one complaint about the show is the VI and Cait scene In the prison cell. It felt very bizarre after Jinx made it abundantly clear that she was going to kill herself and Vis first reaction upon being freed is to lick caits lollipop instead of running after her suicidal sister?
Legit, it seems like whoever storyboarded that sequence forgot that part. Otherwise it makes sense because they know they’re probably going to die in the next few hours because they’re essentially about to go to war. But that does not take precedence over your sister likely going to commit suicide, even if it probably is too late.
Yea literally the fate of the world is hours away, and they decide to do it instead of possibly preparing more to stop it. Its not like they didnt have plenty of time to do it before hand
I can understand the criticism, really, even though I don't agree, but I mainly want to talk about the criticism in relation to the lore. Runeterra's story is fantastic and in my opinion one of the best fantasy universes that have ever existed, leaving the game itself aside, there's no way to say that this universe isn't worth it, I myself have my favorite characters and I love the stories from them. However, where I would like to know other people's opinions, I much prefer the story to be told through series, films and even other games, I much prefer being able to see this story happening on the screen with my own eyes, than reading texts and more texts that at one point or another gets a bit overwhelming, and also because Riot only gives us that most of the time. Yes, I agree that I'm also scared of how Riot will reformulate the universe from now on to fit Arcane, after all, Riot has never had a very good track record with the history of its universe. Riot still has a lot to do to earn our trust back on this. However, as I said, I much prefer following a series like Arcane, with out-of-this-world animation and direction, with a very well-structured script and with characters with very interesting arcs. Even if a lot of things change, I'd rather see the charactersi love on screen than read a text. At least that's how I think.
But why did they have to completely disregard and abandon the core plot of Piltover Zaun politics for an end of the world threat that came out of nowhere? I felt like the interpersonal stuff and the whole Piltover/Zaun concepts/aesthetics were the core of this show, but they just threw it away to have a meaningless fantasy slop battle in the end. Why didn't they trust the best elements of their show?
The show was so consistent in its' quality. It's hands down one of the best animated shows I've had the luck to witness. The only drawback for me was the way viktor's story was shaped after he merged with the core. I loved the Season 1 Viktor, he was relatable and a character with a very moving story that set up the his broken psyke. However, I was already attached with the mechanical version of Viktor that used his ingenuity to pursue the glorious evolution. Viktor's tapping into the arcane to become quasi-celestial and pursuing the glorious evolution that way felt like some kind of cheat for the character, I feel it undermined the setup on his character in Season 1 and his drive to solve problems becoming a self made messiah for the desperate.
The new Viktor design is kinda lovecraftic, and as a bloodborne AND Lovecraft mythos enjoyer, i loyed ut wery much. Also it looks like an old god skin.
Do you have insight into whether there will be future Ekko media? He was the absolute GOAT in Season 2, elevated above and beyond and I think he's one of the characters that would truly be worth seeing in further media, what with having an actual positive hero arc.
The Firelights were my favorite "gang" in the entire show. Their music scenes, the way they enter a fight, their style, their swagger, everything is fucking S tier.
My main question is why Jayce decided to blow up Viktor rather than going to him and showing him the future, he knew fully well future Viktor was the man with the crystals all along, so why not, just go to Viktor and show him this so he can realize? Like, this was while Viktor still had reasonable humanity in him, blowing him up is what trigger Viktor to go full machine
I’ve been looking for this comment, thank you. This is what I fail to understand as well. They risked all this pointless fighting with jayce knowing full well what happened, it just didn’t make sense.
This season was amazing 9/10. But I can't ignore the fact that it was to fast paced for my taste. I loved the direction of where things were going with the story as a whole. I love everything about this show, but i just feel like we needed more characters dialogue (Vi-Ekko, Jinx-ekko 😪, sevika-jinx after isha's death, and so on) or at the very least 3 more episodes in each act. Everything else was 11/10, and arcane as a whole is one of the best cinematic experiences i ever had. So I am excited for what comes next but i hope they take the time needed to make it perfect like S1 and not rush throw the plots. P.D.: Wish ekko had atleast a win in the end man, that scene of him alone breaks me everytime. Wish isha was alive somehow. Weakest point of the series IMO: Black rose plot, wish it was set up in the next tv series and not in this one considering the runtime. Everything else was between amazing to perfect
Imma say it, the guy who necrit was referring to at the beginning is a Pr trained yapper. They will just gloss over the lore of the characters that they changed and hope that people forget, the ending was rushed and the finale was a massive let down for what could and should have been something much more amazing and enjoyable. In the end It just left me dissatisfied and makes me question how much time they had to create season 2 compared to season 1
I still think Viktor's story was incredibly weirdly rushed. One episode he's all "I will not sacrifice his humanity for your cause", but after Jayce chest-blasts him, he's suddenly all fine with dooming the entire world? hello? what? the same Viktor from season 1 who would rather let himself die than let the hexcore continue to exist, potentially harming others? THAT Viktor? It is also never explained to us in any meaningfull way what the footsteps in episode 1 were, or why it was Sky that almost urged Viktor on to infect others with the Arcane. The theories that said that Viktor was semi-mind controlled by the hexcore/arcane, and that Sky was the semi-physical manifestation of that control, were amazing! they explained why Viktor was weirdly un-emotional, what the footsteps were, explained the visual and audio hallucinations, and explained why this man who was TERRIFIED of the hexcore suddenly wanted to spread its power. But, nope. he's just an all-powerfull bad guy now bc, uhm, "we must be one mind, choice is false". Truly have no idea how they ended up there, but alright (also, s1 "there is ALWAYS a choice" Viktor would stab s2 Viktor in the face)
No, it is not the same viktor from season 1, clearly. After he was fused with the hexcore he obviously changed, got corrupted by it, more and more as time went on. Skye probably was the reason why the hexcore didnt immediately turn Viktor in a complete maniac, she was still there keeping himself company, absorbed into the hexcore. When Jayce shot him, something changed, he realized that reaching his goal, "helping" the people, would not be possible in a peaceful way, because people like Jayce would try to stop him. Which is where he started considering accepting Singed's offer of combining him and warwick, an extremer method of reaching the glorious evolution him/the hexcore wanted to achieve. In fact, he was still trying to convince to work together with Jayce instead of fully committing to Singed's idea, thats why he send one of the puppets to talk to him. Once he realized Jayce wouldnt, he fully commited. He accepted sactificing the only thing keeping his humanity and peace, Skye, who knew it was wrong... before she disappears she basically tells Viktor that this is wrong. Once she is gone, he completely obsesses over doing everything possible to reach his goal of the glorious evolution, by any means required. My only personal issue with this is that why future Viktor didn't give Jayce better instructions on how to stop Viktor in that world, he must have known Jayce only shooting him once wouldnt be enough to stop him. But maybe its a whole thing of not being able to interfere too much or causing an even worse result etc. EDIT: Never mind on my personal issue... future viktor knew, the only way to really stop it, was Jayce and Viktor having the conversation like they ended up having.
S2 is paced faster because we no longer have to work through each characters backstory and motivations now. Viktor basically died twice already. Once to jinx and then to jayce. Which most definitely would fuck him up being killed by his partner, who put him in the hexcore in the first place. For all intents and purposes I don't see why people think Viktor was malicious or being controlled prior to E7. Did we forget about his talk with singed? and his defense that Vander was a man and not an experiment. Viktor wanted to stop conflict but at this point everyone submitted willingly to be cured, both physically and most likely removed of their negative emotions. Then boom, jayce "betrays" him, Vander kills Rictor and a small war breaks out in his peaceful commune. Isha, a kid, fucking dies as a result of the whole thing. From S1 to S2, "You were right doctor, I understand now." If anything it is singed that altered Viktors perspective on himself and his goals so damn much from the very beginning. The path to hell is laid with good intentions
I mean dude was killed by the person he respected the most... Gonna change anyone's mind about their approach to their problems. His speech at end of epi 3 kinda highlights his motivation to start the glorious revolution.. and singed kept him alive to pursue those goals.
Arcane and the future shows are the actual true lore of Runeterra. That's where they spent/spend the most energy and ressources on the writing so it makes sense that it takes precedence over everything else, because that's where the top quality writing is.
@@Nata-ch2bk I know which still means they are retconning the lore again :D im fine with it really.. the only thing I did not like is how Warwick look :D
Riot owns a good portion of Fortiche now. Not majority shareholders, but still. Very very likely it will be Fortiche. Fortiche is also working on something on the side already called Penelope of Sparta being their first movie.
In all honesty, if riot sudently decided that they wanna reboot the entire canon again, or that they are never adressing the holes in canon created by the show, i would still say it was more than worth it. In an era where fan service and a sense of brand coherence absolutely crushes artistic vision into a homogenous pulp Arcane stood as a counter to all of that. In part because it was allowed to reshape the entire lore in it's vision. But regardless of reasoning i am so glad to be able to see Fortiche bringing all those loose elements from league and actualy bringing them together into a cohesive whole, guided more by the intent to make good cinema and less to apease the whims of nerds preocupied with fidelity to the source material. I am glad to be able to look at Arcane and be able to criticise it as an actual work of art and less as a part of the larger League Of Legends brand and how it impacts the lore of fucking Ziggs the funny explosions guy. All things considered i still felt that the show, despite being great was so much hindered by noise. Noise in the form of it's many times detrimental intent to make a music clip out of every impactful scene. With music choices that seem more preocupied with apeasing the lowest common denominator and less with actualy elevating the scene. Noise in the form of an ever growing cast, with each character screaming for your attention. And noise in the form of a direction that doesen't want to quiet down and use the silence to build some of it's most impactful scenes. And for me, my favorite parts of the show were the ones where that noise was tonned down. Be it in Season 1 where each member of the cast didn't have such a large importance on the story and the show could focus on the 2 main storylines going on. Be it on the Second Act of Season 2 where the focus went to the story of Vi and Jinx again, the music was tonned down by a lot and the show built some amazing emotional moments without the need to scream for the heavens. Or in episode 7. Where we were shut off from the rest of the world and focused on 2 storylines, and let the characters speak for themselves creating some of the best moments of the show. Overall i'm exited to see what the writers for Riot and Fortiche Studio has in store for League and hope they are granted as much freedom to fuck around with the franchise's lore. I now trust those guys to spit on everything this series has built if it means that the result will be this good. And i hope that they do. You don't make good art by playing it safe, that's how you make good slop.
6:53 this fun fact doesn't exactly explain why Vi died in that alternative reality. If the big point was Jayce not knowkcing at the door, then how the cristals exploded? Originally in Arcane, the sequence was: Jayce knocking>Vi rushing Powder>Powder dropping one cristal. So without Jayce, there shouldn't be any explosion.
Look imma heavily disagree with your intro already. The pace was ATROCIOUS. Especially the last 2 acts were the most rushed episodes I have ever seen from any series I‘ve watched. (Maybe GOTS7/8 were that rushed aswell, but they obviously had a lot more problems.) It felt like a 'we gotta rush through this all to finish it now' and therefore lost a lot of its soul it had in S1. I‘m not saying all of the soul was lost, S2 had a lot of very emotional scenes(E7 was incredible), but it cannot compare to S1 at all. The series was beautiful, had very emotional scenes. I also heavily disagree with A LOT CL said. If you’re aware of the issues, then how do you not fix them beforehand? I get it, they worked over 10years on this story and wanted to finish it off to get to other shows, but season 2 suffered heavily. It feels like a completely different show than Season 2. Especially the last act.
The invasion of Ionia has already happened in Arcane, Swain is already the grand general of Noxus. Because Ambessa talks about the 3 principles of Noxus, and they were founded by Swain, therefore all of these events have already happened. The only way for Singed to have helped in the invasion is if his speculated age you came up with is canon and he has been trying to save Orianna since back then.
I legitemately had the best moment of my life after finishing the show with my friend, hugging and crying, petting her cat... This hits really hard as an Ekko enjoyer
Zileans possibilities were not universes, they are still the same universe, different branches in time, its a slight diference but i think it still could confuse new people so thats that
Timetravel to different worldines are different universes. Timetravel in league never has been going forwards or backwards. It always has been climbing a tree and its various branches. Zilean using time magic to defeat the void is his whole purpose. Bonus points if he can save his entire nation in the process.
I don’t understand why the authors had vi go down on some carpet without a care in the world while her sister was mentally unstable and about to commit suicide. Both scenes taint one another when paired together and leaves the viewer extremely confused and awkward.
Jinx just punched her and told her that she wanted to go away from everything, she had no reason to think that she would kill herself, nor she did know where Jinx was even if she had understood that.
That really confused me too. A large part of Act 2 was Vi and Jinx reuniting and connecting again. Sure, Vi was supportive of Jinx in the jail cell, but after Jinx locked her in and basically told her she was going to leave/end it, she wasn't devastated about that at all. Jinx was clearly shown as depressed, self harming and suicidal. I didn't expect Vi to just be mad and horny after seeing that ?!
Yeah a fan service to all these weirdos on twitter and reddit From what I saw from fanart, some people are sick in the head That scene was too too much
Neah the pacing wasnt a necessary evil and another season would've been perfect but at least 3 more eps were needed instead of just rushing character arcs to where the plot needs them. Slowing down a bit would've been much better even if Arcane is not isolated, for example Ciat's dictator arc was so heavely underutilised its like it didnt even happened and a few other things like things at minimum 3 eps more were needed.
More on Piltover a fraud region. They varely survive chemtech let alone a well train war bandits. All that technology and no peace treaty or functional defense military
I mean think about it, Piltover alone has guns, magical artillery, airships, and toxic gas, Zaun brings more people, body augments, and the hoverboards of the firelights to the table, on top of all that their position was pretty defendable.
@@Psub950 True, with both of the full forces of Zaun and Piltover combined, they could handle Medarda faction soldiers...though as we saw, Noxians are cunning by principle. Ambessa not only used Singed and Viktor's augments on her soldiers but also exploited the weaknesses within Piltover (causing their own to betray them amid battle). I like that even a small scale war like this wasn't done in a brain-dead manner. Characters in Runeterra/Arcane actually are smart and use every resources they can to prevail - and some even don't! like in real life, many people just left the city xd
I had a long conversation with a friend who doesn't know anything about league or its lore and from his perspective (and mine too i guess) ambessa was a big letdown. she really didn't live up to the level that silco did as a villain. The story of Arcane could have been very similar without her and Noxus interfering. There were other ways for Caitlin to go down the path she did and Ambessa getting a legendary skin on release, a music video, a book and so much hype really felt strange. they didn't need to have noxus as this common enemy for piltover and zaun to fight against together because they already had Viktor for that. A lot of the bloat from the season came from ambessa and removing her would have given them more time to flesh out other character's arcs and making the feeling that the story was a little rush a bit less. I get that she was a setup for another series set in Noxus but from the perspective of my friend who doesn't know the lore at all the story would have been much better if it really was about the twin cities and contained to them. The infrastructure for oppressing zaun existed long before the noxians arrived and all things considered I really think ambessa was one of the weaker parts of the story. (would love to hear other people's opinions though)
Necrit this is why I fucks with you man. That interview was EVERYTHING I was looking for cause I know they just weren’t going to do all of this heavy lifting without due diligence. Now all the ppl cryin and hating the holes hopefully can see, they are takin it all into consideration.
They *are* and they *did* take into consideration which is good, and the review is REALLY important, but it was never the team and Fortiche’s fault, the decision to make Arcane into the main canon is still very problematic, and we still lost a lot of important character development and world building due to the large retcon, some are good some are bad, but *a lot* is changed and more will come when the new series starts.
Imma say it, the guy who necrit was referring to at the beginning is a Pr trained yapper. @@thewarriorreturns9179I wholeheartedly agree. The ending was so incredibly unsatisfying. We did not get any real closure for ANY characters. What happend to Viktor/Jayce? Noone knows. Guess they’re floating in space now. whats up with jinx? noone knows. guess shes flying away somewhere letting her sister think shes dead. (which was the ONE thing that Vi was always fighting to prevent btw, great stuff.) Ekko? Depressed. Donger? in limbo. Cait/Vi? Idk what they’re supposed to be doing now and they were the only ones who had some dialogue after the fight. Which told us nothing. They should be hardcore struggling and depressed aswell, Vi literally lost everyone now but Caitlyn. Caitlyn nearly got publicly executed and lost her eye. Nope no mention of any of that. Mel atleast we know she’s sailing off to the Noxus show now. But no other closure WHY she’s doing it now after literally fighting against Noxus and for piltover earlier. There is a reason in a lot of shows the last episode functions as an epilogue of some sort, to give some closure and finality. Yeah nah, we got nothing of the sort. The Lore was brushed over, 'we thought about everything and took it all into consideration', yeah great but what did you do about it then? Nothing. They might have thought about stuff, but then they just ignored it all.(we‘re gonna deal with it later LOL) The finale felt like a completely different series than the first season and also parts of season 2. And not in a good way. While S1 (and parts of S2) was about 2 sisters and their struggles in Pilt/Zaun(like the netflix description even says(!)) they were side characters in the finale. IN A SERIES ABOUT THEM! I was expecting a resolution to their struggles and conflicts, not a random teamup vs ' Thanos-Viktor' who btw only came to be ONE episode earlier. Shoehorning Noxus in that much just to have an easier transition into their next show(s) was also a decision that heavily crippled the second season. They hoped to blind everyone with the incredible aesthetic of the show and some emotionally taxing depressing scenes, which they apparently succeeded in. (Necrit sayinf Viktor looks like such good body horror, which he was never about)
Imma say it, the guy who necrit was referring to at the beginning is a Pr trained yapper. Jinx is alive, Warwick is alive, Ekko is the GOAT, Vi and Cait finally sealed the deal, Viktor and Jayce are best bros 5eva, the next show that’s already in development, and fans are now tempted more than ever to taste the forbidden fruit that is LoL only to be brutally burned by the toxicity. We’re gonna be riding this wave for years and years to come!
I didn't like the ending. The whole reasons everyone watched season 1 got rushed in season 2 for a save the world plot and everyone's individuality got a tiny rushed over spotlight. There was no post Isha dialogue. Also, romance in a jail cell instead of running after your emotionally destroyed sister? It needed so much more time to explore everyone's individual story. I'm very upset it all got rushed over because thats why everyone became invested.
yes this is so fucking true, it's called character-driven story vs plot-driven. In the last 2 episodes, the show completely switched from being about the decisions of characters and their emotions to just trying to justify a big epic battle scene. It feels like they just wanted a bombastic ending and wrote all the character's actions around that.
Is there anyone on this site who can actually say they 100% are sure of how to interpret the "Viktor is a mage" and "only you can show me this" plots? Because whichever theory i try to believe, all have such major inconsistenties that it makes my head hurt ;-; A few of the theories I have seen: Mage Viktor is the one who started it all. From the first universe wherein it all went wrong. To right his wrongs and save other universes from ending up the same, he travels from universe to universe to give the Jayce he meets there a crystal (different each universe). Each of those Jayce's is teleported to Piltover > tries to recreate magic. In doing so he always meets Viktor, and it always goes wrong, but Jayce always manages to save Viktor and the world in the end > [Has the problem of: why does Mage Viktor not just let Jayce die on the planes, so there would be no hextech and no corrupted Viktor? and who gave Jayce the crystals to go to Piltover in Mage Viktor's universe? And why is he a mage, and not a Herald like our Viktor? And how does this add up to Ekko's universe, where the crystals never became hexcores? Or in the universe Jayce went to, wherein Jayce clearly did NOT succeed? And why would he care about other universes enough to actively change their fate, while not interfering > no crystals would lead to no hexcore > no corrupted Viktor?] Mage Viktor is from a timeline wherein that Viktor, completely independent of Jayce's hexcore ideas, manages to recreate magic and becomes a mage instead of a Herald. As there was no Jayce, there was no one to save this Viktor. This is the universe our Jayce went to in episode 7. > [Has the problem of: if Mage Viktor became a Mage independent of hextech, how come Jayce's likeness was at the top of the building, same position as ours ended in? This implies that universe worked parallel to ours, only difference that Jayce failed. But then why is he a mage and not a Herald, as ours is? And, if Jayce was there, then Jayce failed to save Viktor, and so the "in every universe only you" line is very vague.] (My theory) Viktor was not the mage who gave Jayce the crystal. Depending on what crystal is given, the universe works differently. In some universes Viktor also gets corrupted by the hexcore Jayce creates (such as the one Jayce went to), while in some universes he doesnt. From all those universes that mage Viktor (for some reason) knows of, only OUR Jayce is able to stop Viktor from going to far. In all other universes, Jayce either failed and Viktor went to far, or he wasnt in the picture at all (such as Ekko's world) and thus Viktor never got corrupted in those universes. This means that Mage Viktor is only an observer, and not the person who always pushes it in motion > [Has the problem of: riot clearly meant to imply that the mage we saw in s1 was Viktor (however thats such bullshit he doesnt even look like the mage Viktor we meet in s2 which is such a big detail), and doesnt explain why our Jayce, from all universes, is the only one special enough to save Viktor lest he be corrupted (it's bc they're in love in our universe but u didn't hear it from me). The reason I ask, is because I have seen many people say "they were destined to be in every universe!!" But... that's the opposite of what we are shown? We are shown a universe where Jayce massively failed, and a universe where they probably never even learned of one another's existence. How is it implied that they are soulmates in every universe? I personally took it to mean "if Viktor were saved, it is always Jayce that saves him: but Viktor isnt always saved" It's also interesting that they mention both timelines and universes. Often it is chosen one and the same. This probably means that each universe has within itself multiple timeline possibilities. Our world and the world Jayce went to are probably the same universe, only different timelines (that is the one where Jayce failed, probably due to different ruins = no Ekko to reverse time. In ours he won). However HOWEVER, that does not explain why that Viktor went back to human form from his Herald form. As you can see: inconsistencies any way you wanna slice it. I truly hope someone has a theory that works or a different interpretation, because as it is now, nothing works.
@@ayatan2147 but where do you get that from? there is nothing in the show that hints at that; it is an explanation made up outside of the show, because the show itself doesnt offer anything to clear it up. i cannot take that as anything other than a fan theory
@@isaw9969 Well, all of these ideas/explanations are fan theories. This one seems to be the most plausible. Hextech ends up getting created without Jayce, resulting in the disaster. Viktor says that Jayce is the only one who could save him. So, Viktor gives Jayce a different rune in different timelines, seeing if the rune affects the outcome. In the universe where Jayce is at the top of the tower, clearly having failed, the rune that Viktor gave Jayce resulted in events playing out nearly the same, with the difference being that Ekko doesn't have the acceleration rune to invert for the Z-Drive, which results in him not being able to save the day up at the top.
> However HOWEVER, that does not explain why that Viktor went back to human form from his Herald form. Because the moment the Z-Drive hits Viktor, part of him is reversed back to his thinking before Herald and Human Viktor are completely 2 different characters, Herald Viktor forces his will on everyone, Human Viktor said he'll let people choose as I see it, after being hit by the time reversal, his herald and human self are fighting for control, where Jayce's comment and him showing him the vision of a possible future makes the human side of him win, not accepting that future
I was borderline praying the mage in S1 wasn't gonna be Viktor lol, because it has... interesting implications on Jayce's own free will, and their relationship as it were. Jayce was manipulated in his youth by his future best friend into a course of actions that he seemingly had little control over, because of Viktor's own fuckups, and I don't vibe. He becomes less his own character and more a catalyst to stopping Viktor, by Viktor. I'm not thinking as big as you are, you are galaxy-braining it and honestly respect. I generally dislike time travel, multiverse, cuz when it does things like this you scratch your head over answers you will never get. And becomes Very morally questionable. And yeah, "In every universe... only you" is driving me nuts- because, if its only Jayce who can show him, in every universe, why is this the only one Jayce succeeds in stopping him?? If he was able to show Viktor the truth in every other universe, we wouldn't be having the issue of "only this universe has the solution", because then all the other universes would already have the solution. Unless, in all the others, Jayce shows him too late... and if Jayce is too late, and Ekko isn't there to reverse time, for whatever reason (I can't think of what impacts that influence), then the result is mage Viktor, living with his faults, I reckon. Honestly I love your theory, that Viktor ain't the S1 mage (for obvious reasons), and that in some universes, it anyway just isn't physically possible if Viktor isn't corrupted. That is incredibly interesting. I don't even think the focus is on Jayce being able to show him. It's sweet, his bestie is the only one to bring him back from crossing the line permanently, but honestly Ekko is the absolute boss who fixed the issue. Also, how does Ekko's mini anomaly-powered time machine differ to Mage Viktor's ability to traverse universes? Can Viktor not also turn back time, being literally in control of the anomaly that powers Ekko's machine? I adore these two, their beyond-the-stars bond. And I do love the soulmate concept- that they are only saved because of each other, if they know each other. Just not too big a fan of the execution. They also frequently fail to save each other, which is a little funny at this point in our insanity.
I waited since episode one of season one to finally see my boy viktor become the machine herald And in the end i just got a cheap knockoff with objectively worse lore and a shitty design
Almost seemed like Riot/the animation studio just wanted to move on to tell other stories. The Riotverse is now open, at the expense of a great ending to Arcane story arch
The plan was always two seasons for Arcane. The real hinderance was them deciding to make Arcane canon to the lore despite it originally being intended to serve as its own universe.
@@colossaldonut5190Packing so much in season 2 wasnt a good idea. Arcane Season 1 was a masterclass in writing and pacing, only for season 2 to jump in and ruin that.
episode 7 is best episode of the season and possibly one of my favourites in the entire series. the juxtaposition between a poor zaunite boy living the life he never had or could’ve had vs. the piltovan golden boy experiencing true hardship completely alone and climbing from the zaun trenches to get to piltover was sublime. necessary character development for jayce and achingly tragic for ekko.
I loved the fact that they made most of us believe Ambessa would survive because Riot gave her so much attention and a novel as well! I was sure she would survive and was actually happy with the fact that I was wrong!

They will just gloss over the lore of the characters that they changed and hope that people forget, the ending was rushed and the finale was a massive let down for what could and should have been something much more amazing and enjoyable. In the end It just left me dissatisfied and makes me question how much time they had to create season 2 compared to season 1
I agree the story is what matters and some missing/left out parts are not that necessary but I wish this season had 4 acts or so to not rush things. Like for example one scene Salo is crippled and pumped with shimmer and the next one he is a follower of Viktor and tries to get him some hexcores. They coulda add a scene or two to show how Viktor utilizes those hexcores etc.
I feel like the biggest issue with season 2 is the fact that this is supposed to be canon for League's lore and currently does not fit a lot of established narratives very well. It will be interesting to see how Riot tries to tie everything together but it definitely won't be easy and will take a lot of time to do so.
I dont really think its that big of an issue. The only characters that need big changes are viktor and jayce. Everyone else can just have their age readjusted. At least assuming warwick and jinx are still alive.

They just rewrite the story of some characters. They have done that multiple times in the past. What people don’t realise is that Riot didn’t really have a coherent story before Arcane. I remember them retconning so many stories in the past.
I 100% expected Maddie to betray, why in the hell would they focus so hard on her introduction and making it sugar sweet and perfect, it was allllllll over the scene that she was up to no good.
This act was the weakest part of whole series. They basically exaplained nothing, relied on letting fans to make theories and assumptions, so it looks how deep and symbollical the whole season was, and they added fucking multiverse on top of it. They sacrificed everything that made the first season so great - dialogues, character development, subtle emotional expressions, believable conflicts based on relevant motivations, and most of all balanced pace of storytelling. Such a shame. BUT. It is still the best animated show I have seen since original Avatar: The Last Airbender. Don't be mistaken, I am not saying I don't love it. I'm just sad to know that it was so close to perfection, and it didn't manage to achieve it. It's a shining gem laying in the middle of the desert of mediocrity, though.
Yeah, its a shame that Season 1 was a masterpiece and Season 2 didnt manage to follow it. Hopefully, Riot takes feedback for their future series, instead of thinking S2 was perfect.
But how can you be against multiverse if we literally have Ekko in the show. I'm not shaming, it's just that there is nothing wrong with alternative universes even if recently they have been prominent in a lot of media, especially considering that we have Zilean
I agree. To the point of comparing it to ATLA: Arcane 2 is kind of like Korra: impossibly huge footsteps to fill. I feel like Arcane 1 was written as a self contained story, purposely written into three chapters and, importantly, didn't set up too much for the second season (especially in terms of unanswered questions), though I do believe they have always had broad ideas of where the story was headed. I just feel like there was more writing freedom in the first season than in this one. The decision to finish the story in the second season, and to limit that one to exactly the same structure is in my opinion what prevented the second season to be as perfect as the first. Going from the end of season 1 to the end of season 2 is kind of a monstrous leap to take in just 9 episodes. There was so much that had to be set up to later be paid off that there was barely time to digest and mull on important relations and dynamics. I think the 3 episode acts structure really hurt this season because everything felt so crammed to fit into certain boundaries. If they had just one more episode each act things might have gotten more time to breath and feel natural. I don't know if the decisions for structure and timing came from within or from outside, regardless I agree it is still an amazing piece of media made by very talented people.
@@Schwibzik Its not the mutliverse problem, its how it was done. Timelines could be related to Ekko, but for entire Jayce/Viktor conflict to be based around stopping an evil future is just a waste. Especially, when they rushed it as hell with flimsy explanations.
@@cardmaster8772 I agree. Did not take long to figure out who the mage was once all the pieces were set. And at that point it just felt like a 10 year old wrote a few fight scenes and thought that the pretty colours will fix anything.
Im sorry ,but an interview post production doesnt AT ALL resolves the issues on the MASSIVE retcones in the show. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE WHAT THEY DID TO WARWICK. I dont care they they just give some lip service damge control and just say we get our WW later off screen ,fuck that
the problem with cait and vi scene is that jinx clearly is in a bad mental state has given up ( she surrendered to the police) e says this world is better off without me and I m gonna end the cycle alludint havily to the fact that she is about to not be alive and when cait shows up vi just says you were right she didnt change, bro no way you are that blind and then even if she didn t take the int that she would commit not alive anymore she at least should know she was still in a bad spot and prob gonna run away and her response is to f cait she has given up on jinx soooo many times no wonder the girl is crazy
I don't think the interview is an excuse for the issues the series had. A lot of champions have had story changes that I don't think they can just explain after the series is over. Plus most people who watch Arcane won't ever see the interview anyway.
Most people who watched arcane truly dont care about how it impact the lore of the base game. The people who actually do care enough to say its a "flaw" with the show will watch/have watched the interview.
You and others say that only cause like yo said, you don’t think they can explain how they’ll be connected. If this writing has anything to say for itself, it’s that they can tell a great story that makes sense. People are just jumping the gun assuming other projects will fail just cause they don’t know how it’ll end up. Let em cook
@@griffo73some will, but there are millions of league fans who have watched the show, and honestly necrit is just not that popular, and the video only has 400k views. It would have been far better if these issues were actually addressed in the show, and saying in an interview that you thought about the issues doesn't make them better. Even if only some people are bothered doesn't change the fact that these are issues either. Plus, you can't tell me that some of these changes were for the better.
I dont really think its that big of an issue. The only characters that need big changes are viktor and jayce. Everyone else can just have their age readjusted. At least assuming warwick and jinx are still alive.
I don't like time travel stories at all, but this one from Arcane is the exception. It made so much sense and was so good, I enjoyed every second of it. This episode destroyed me emotionally just like episode 3 season 1 (also Stromae's song wasn't helping).
22:30 I still don’t get why Viktor gave Jayce the rune in the first place. No rune -> no hextech -> no hexcore -> no end of the world and we get the alternative universe Ekko saw. Viktor said that in all the universes this exact rune that he gave Jayce is the solution, etc. Why does there even need to be a solution? If he wouldn’t have given him the rune, he would’ve never became ‘so powerful that only he himself could stop him’. He is the reason why hexcore even exists since he was the one who gave Jayce the rune when he was a child. He literally created the problem that he wants to solve. Not to mention that he doomed all the other universes where he gave Jayce a different rune. Please someone help me I feel like I’m going insane
having a character that can just casually travel between timelines already fucks up a lot. Like why would viktor only visit jayce then as a child, why not accompany him, why not do more direct measures to fix the stuffs he did, like why
Man, thank you for your effort making this. Have to say, i felt unclear after the ending, but now i believe i want to experience the serie again, with keener eye.

The way I undestood it, Maddie was always a traitor who was planted there by Ambessa to better manipulate Caitlyn
That’s what I figured too. Otherwise, she is laughably petty to the point it ruins the seriousness of the entire scene lmao.
Ambessa even hints at it.
Ambessa is a master manipulator and totally knew Maddie was perfect to be used and molded into a follower
Maddie was Just jealous about Caitlyn and Vi
Well I won't stop saying one thing:
The trio of Ekko, Heimer and Powder are insanely ingenious.
Heim didn’t mind sacrificing himself because he knows he will revive in Bandle City.
They did use Jayce’s notes to do so though.
Duh, Viktor had to find a timeline where Ekko was able to make the z drive. The rest of timelines probably didn’t work.
It's probably not a balloon but a fan for a ventilation system, she turned it into a balloon though.
@@jogadorjnc Well, again this is only in my head, my explanation is that in "our" universe the explosion happenned but nobody died, so jayce could argue that it happenned because of an accidental misshandling of the stones or whatever, but the damage was only to inanimate objects;
On the other hand a child straight up died and was found in the arms of her little sister, so not only he was studying "Illegal" stuff, that stuff also caused a death, so it wouldn't sit right both with the council and at least personally, it woudln't sit right with jayce himself!
Plus if jayce never recieved the fragment, why did ekko find little fragments embed with the wall, why did Powder still have multiple hex stones?
@@cangaroojack Yea, it makes no sense, it's just a plot hole
They could have patched the hole out if they had more time, but they really needed the avengers to assemble in episode 9
@@jogadorjnc "Why would any of that be different?"
Because someone actually died...
Or maybe Just got a worst punishment because someone died

7:01 I don't think this is a universe where Viktor never gave the gem to Jayce and the Piltolver lab belonged to someone else. Remember that after the explosion in the original timeline, Jayce was put on trial for the potential dangers of his experiments but managed to get away and continue working on hextech. I think that in the alternate timeline Jayce’s trial resulted in a conviction because there a child got killed. This would explain why hextech never came to be, as it was definitively proven to be dangerous and everyone in the council, including Mel, rejected the idea.
ep7 is a 10/10 for me just amazing
only problem with this season for me is the phasing from uniting and creating zaun to fighting victor and noxus

One thing about the Z-drive damaging Viktor that I thought was different than what Necrit pointed out, but I could also be wrong:
Instead of just blowing up and damaging Viktor, it actually seemed like it "Rewound" the part of Viktor that it came in contact with (The same way it rewinds Ekko) and since it hit him in the head, it gave him back some of his emotions, returning some part of Viktor to before the "process".
Minnie Driver voices Leblanc. It shows that Riot has already planned the next series in Noxus.
Episode 7 is my fav, and by far, Holy shit it was so beautiful. As usual, thx for the good work man

for your detailled analysis: when jinx blows herself and warwick up at the end, when the explosion goes off you can see a pink energy line that always happens when jinx uses shimmer speed. You could guess that she escaped.

@@williamost9083fr fr... 10/10 episode
Episode 7 is my favourite in all of Arcane but I’m more critical of 8 and 9. The story wasn’t bad, but they clearly needed more time to tell it.
S1 still a masterpiece S2 is like a 7 or 8 out of 10 for me
They turned Arcane turned into an Avengers movie, it was infuriating to watch.
And it's frustrating seeing people soy out over all the fan service.
Episodes 8 and 9 did feel rushed. Every single episode of the show before those I felt like I was keeping up fine with the story, piecing things together, and feeling smart about it.
But episodes 8 and 9 of S2 just made me feel whiplash and like I'd been left behind
@@jogadorjnc Nah it was awesome. Cry about it
16:30 Ekko : Jinx I've come to bargain.
That's the mark of an excellent story, feeling like you've lost something that you'll never get back.
watch Season 1 and 2 again 😅
@@maramackenzie-mann rewatching is a kinda good idea. Especially in few years
@@callmemrdee ahaha, yeah, that's what we all will do..

My one complaint about the show is the VI and Cait scene In the prison cell. It felt very bizarre after Jinx made it abundantly clear that she was going to kill herself and Vis first reaction upon being freed is to lick caits lollipop instead of running after her suicidal sister?
Literally everything is going to hell
Vi: I'm feeling romantical
+ The scene was too long they should put it on a porn website.
@faresasfary it was also the edited down version. The actual thing was much longer.
@@Deathnom But that's how the world works. Majority of people would just have sex if they knew the world is ending in an hour.
Couldn't have said it better
Imma say it, the guy who necrit was referring to at the beginning is a Pr trained yapper. They will just gloss over the lore of the characters that they changed and hope that people forget, the ending was rushed and the finale was a massive let down for what could and should have been something much more amazing and enjoyable. In the end It just left me dissatisfied and makes me question how much time they had to create season 2 compared to season 1
Wild ride glad I found your Chanel’s during this arcane times imm gonna be checking out all the lore now
I still think Viktor's story was incredibly weirdly rushed.
Truly have no idea how they ended up there, but alright
(also, s1 "there is ALWAYS a choice" Viktor would stab s2 Viktor in the face)
Yeah - it is not that it could not happen. The problem is that you have to infer a whole season's worth of plot progression and character development.
Episode 7 is really peak cinema my god how good that Episode was.
basically they are retconning their lore for the 100th time :D
Arcane and the future shows are the actual true lore of Runeterra. That's where they spent/spend the most energy and ressources on the writing so it makes sense that it takes precedence over everything else, because that's where the top quality writing is.

So ready for whatever Riot has next for us!! 🔥🤩
The real question is, will Fortiche continue working on the series covering other regions, or will Riot hire a new studio for it?
hope they continue with fortiche, and give up on the live action project
Riot owns a good portion of Fortiche now. Not majority shareholders, but still. Very very likely it will be Fortiche.
Fortiche is also working on something on the side already called Penelope of Sparta being their first movie.
I believe that the guy who was interviewed confirmed that it will be Fortiche. So exciting
Riot owns Fortiche, so most likely yes.
I don't believe they would buy a portion of fortiche just at the end of this year only to do nothing with it lol
Fish boi should be the next champion. He actually did stuff and didn't die as a non-main character. Definately deserves it
They can save money and not give him voice lines too to be show accurate.
But Mel, though!
God I’ve been waiting for this video
episode 7 is the best in the entire series lol

Say it with me: Twitter-bait fanservice.
Jinx just punched her and told her that she wanted to go away from everything, she had no reason to think that she would kill herself, nor she did know where Jinx was even if she had understood that.
@@ayatan2147 That's why my question is pointed towards the authors and not vi herself.
Yeah a fan service to all these weirdos on twitter and reddit
From what I saw from fanart, some people are sick in the head
That scene was too too much
Neah the pacing wasnt a necessary evil and another season would've been perfect but at least 3 more eps were needed instead of just rushing character arcs to where the plot needs them.
Slowing down a bit would've been much better even if Arcane is not isolated, for example Ciat's dictator arc was so heavely underutilised its like it didnt even happened and a few other things like things at minimum 3 eps more were needed.
The real issue with arcane is that it was never meant to be cannon.
I'm pretty sure that's what kinda hurt the second season. The first was written with probably more freedom.
Props to the Noxian soldiers, they where pretty effective considering how advanced Piltover is.
Ye the difference is Noxians are soldiers while Piltover only have a force that is similar to the police - enforcers.
Ekko had my HYPE all throughout Act 3. They did my boy justice
They will just gloss over the lore of the characters that they changed and hope that people forget, the ending was rushed and the finale was a massive let down for what could and should have been something much more amazing and enjoyable. @@thewarriorreturns9179while i see this as a valid interpretation, it loses all bite considering you just copy-pasted it everywhere.

(which was the ONE thing that Vi was always fighting to prevent btw, great stuff.)
Ekko? Depressed. Donger? in limbo.
Nothing. They might have thought about stuff, but then they just ignored it all.(we‘re gonna deal with it later LOL)
The finale felt like a completely different series than the first season and also parts of season 2.

Necrit genuinly the only one not seeing Maddie's betrayal incoming. Lol
Is there anyone on this site who can actually say they 100% are sure of how to interpret the "Viktor is a mage" and "only you can show me this" plots? Because whichever theory i try to believe, all have such major inconsistenties that it makes my head hurt ;-;
A few of the theories I have seen:
Mage Viktor is the one who started it all. From the first universe wherein it all went wrong. To right his wrongs and save other universes from ending up the same, he travels from universe to universe to give the Jayce he meets there a crystal (different each universe). Each of those Jayce's is teleported to Piltover > tries to recreate magic. In doing so he always meets Viktor, and it always goes wrong, but Jayce always manages to save Viktor and the world in the end
> [Has the problem of: why does Mage Viktor not just let Jayce die on the planes, so there would be no hextech and no corrupted Viktor? and who gave Jayce the crystals to go to Piltover in Mage Viktor's universe? And why is he a mage, and not a Herald like our Viktor? And how does this add up to Ekko's universe, where the crystals never became hexcores? Or in the universe Jayce went to, wherein Jayce clearly did NOT succeed? And why would he care about other universes enough to actively change their fate, while not interfering > no crystals would lead to no hexcore > no corrupted Viktor?]
Mage Viktor is from a timeline wherein that Viktor, completely independent of Jayce's hexcore ideas, manages to recreate magic and becomes a mage instead of a Herald.
And, if Jayce was there, then Jayce failed to save Viktor, and so the "in every universe only you" line is very vague.]
(My theory) Viktor was not the mage who gave Jayce the crystal. This means that Mage Viktor is only an observer, and not the person who always pushes it in motion
> [Has the problem of: riot clearly meant to imply that the mage we saw in s1 was Viktor (however thats such bullshit he doesnt even look like the mage Viktor we meet in s2 which is such a big detail), and doesnt explain why our Jayce, from all universes, is the only one special enough to save Viktor lest he be corrupted (it's bc they're in love in our universe but u didn't hear it from me).
The reason I ask, is because I have seen many people say "they were destined to be in every universe!!" But... that's the opposite of what we are shown? We are shown a universe where Jayce massively failed, and a universe where they probably never even learned of one another's existence. How is it implied that they are soulmates in every universe? I personally took it to mean "if Viktor were saved, it is always Jayce that saves him: but Viktor isnt always saved"
It's also interesting that they mention both timelines and universes.
Even if Jayce or Viktor don't discover Hextech, someone else does.
Because the moment the Z-Drive hits Viktor, part of him is reversed back to his thinking before
Herald and Human Viktor are completely 2 different characters, Herald Viktor forces his will on everyone, Human Viktor said he'll let people choose
as I see it, after being hit by the time reversal, his herald and human self are fighting for control, where Jayce's comment and him showing him the vision of a possible future makes the human side of him win, not accepting that future
We better be getting dozens of 1 hours+ future shows theories necrit!
I waited since episode one of season one to finally see my boy viktor become the machine herald
And in the end i just got a cheap knockoff with objectively worse lore and a shitty design
Ekko, having a lovely time in alternate universe, then **Meanwhile, in Hell...**
It needed so much more time to explore everyone's individual story. I'm very upset it all got rushed over because thats why everyone became invested.
@@colossaldonut5190Packing so much in season 2 wasnt a good idea. Arcane Season 1 was a masterclass in writing and pacing, only for season 2 to jump in and ruin that.
Yea, they ruined Arcane so they could start a Riot Cinematic Universe
episode 7 is best episode of the season and possibly one of my favourites in the entire series. the juxtaposition between a poor zaunite boy living the life he never had or could’ve had vs. the piltovan golden boy experiencing true hardship completely alone and climbing from the zaun trenches to get to piltover was sublime. necessary character development for jayce and achingly tragic for ekko.
I really missed Ekko and Vi interactions in season 2 like they didin't even talk or anything :/
So the final basically confirmed that Mel is Guile/The Faceless?
I loved the fact that they made most of us believe Ambessa would survive because Riot gave her so much attention and a novel as well! I was sure she would survive and was actually happy with the fact that I was wrong!

Episode 7 was an 11/10 episode. Definitely my favorite and solidifies Ekko as my favorite Arcane character along with s1e7 and the finale.
That's so funny. My thoughts was the ending was weakish
When time passes everyone will look back at this season as such waste of potential.
There just gonna rewrite the storie that it could fit into the current league so i dont see any issue about that
I dont really think its that big of an issue.

That's just not true. Your issue is that you're assuming old champion lore is still canon.
