I was a signalman at Redcar. The boom gates you see are fairly unique on the railway network in the UK. On windy days the motors are too week to operate the gates and they have to be closed manually by disengaging the motor. I am surprised they are still there in 2015!
+pjd7325 The gates do seem to belong to another era, as does the warning siren. Somehow I don't think Redcar or anywhere else in the North East for that matter is high up on NRs list of prioritys.
