  • @jays.6843

    Fun fact, something this large would struggle to move properly because there would be travel time from electrical signals between the brain and it's muscles.

    • @orzechturbo4672
      @orzechturbo4672 7 месяцев назад +253

      What if it had more than 1 brain?
      What if it's body would have multiple segments and every segment would have it's own brain?

    • @John.McMillan
      @John.McMillan 5 месяцев назад +351

      Something this massive would 100% have multiple hearts, I think it's reasonable to assume it would have multiple nerve centers throughout its body. Not quite brains, but something that would allow it to move and react relatively quickly.

      @@orzechturbo4672 in order to maintain a reasonably sensible movement, these brains would have to communicate with each other,so it won't make much difference

    • @jacktaylor8195
      @jacktaylor8195 4 месяца назад +147

      @kender2272 Not necessarily. An octopus has seperate nerve centres that can perform both reflexive actions as well as complex tasks, somewhat independently of its brain.
      It could be assumed that the fauna of 4546B would have evolved in such a way to facilitate their exceptional sizes. Perhaps the additional nerve centres have more autonomy over their body segment than that of an octopus, to allow more graceful, agile movement. Or maybe the reason the Gargantuan went extinct in the first place is because there was no solution to this problem.

    • @jacktaylor8195
      @jacktaylor8195 4 месяца назад +29

      @JimJamTalks Oh sure, that works, but it's not a very satisfying answer. Yes, magic is probably the most plausible way this fish could ever have existed, but either way, there is some suspension of disbelief required to bring it to life, so considering that, isn't it better to at least try to explain fiction through science?
      Subnautica does not revolve around these telepathic, teleporting fish, they are a small part of a much larger game, and their addition does not necessarily mean that the game cannot pursue realism in other areas.

    Quick note by the way, if you were even moderately close enough when one of these things roared you would just instantly die. Like straight up instantaneous death. Your body would vibrate so hard from the sound that you would cease to exist.

      I mean… why would it even pay you notice? You’re like a gnat compared to it.
      If anything it’d be too slow to do anything to a human anyway.
      At that size it’s perception of time would easily be 1/3 a humans, if not more, and it estimating the math would take a good seven seconds for it’s nerves to reach anything beyond its head.
      Imagine trying to sway a fly that’s half again as fast as a normal fly, and also it’s thousands of times smarter than you are.
      It LOOKS scary, but honestly it would be pretty harmless to anything smaller than a leviathan.

      Like the reason Trex wouldn't have bothered with humans unless they got too close.
      Realistically something that size would either feed on krill like creatures or other megafauna. Like the blue whale (krill) and sperm whale (only reason giant squid were known to exist till one was caught on camera). The alternative is it using passive measures like the lion's mane jellyfish and zooids of various kinds.
      Unless it's treating human sized animals like krill it wouldn't be a threat. Although still a good idea to stay out of its path in case it does but by that point it wouldn't care. Although the size also implies the abyssal void has either an overabundance of food or it's full of megafauna and these things usually just float in the water column drifting through the dark until they see something edible and capitalize on its presence like most real world abyssal creatures.

It's mod so I get that its creators didn't want to spend eternity creating more believeable creature so they just copy-pasted the body but to me all the warning sirens in my head are immediately turned off when I see something that disproportional. Big part of the charm of these games is how regardless of the size the monsters felt believeable, barring maybe sea dragon and its flamethrower which I coincidentally didn't like all that much. Reaper leviathan is something I wouldn't be surprised to encounter in deep ocean, modded Gargantuan Leviathan is something that reminds of that I'm playing a video game.

    It's crazy thinking the gargantuan leviathan wouldn't damage your cyclops. It would straight up eat it whole

    The Gargantuan leviathan could easily put up a fight against the world serpent jormungander and the true biblical leviathan. 🐊

      ... You DO realize that Jormungander is literally the "World Serpent". As in big enough to go straight in one direction and be able to bite it's tail at the end. It bends around the world.

      Kinda true. The world serpent, it literally massive is like 10000+ times. the mass of gargantuan leviathan
      In my thoughts imagine having a garg inside a world's serpent
      It we'll ate the inside to grow larger size
      But in the end it we'll not surpass, the world's serpent it we'll get killed due to luck of foods!
