UH has an array of attackers and their defense plays just as well. There is a reason that UH is the only team in USA college to not go 5 games. Some teams are one or two dimensional, and even if one of the UH guys are out of sync, there are others to go to. But overall it's the service pressure that UH does that puts other teams out of sync where there is more scramble than set plays. Add to that the fact that UH can block is why they are #1. In all phases of the game, they are probably the most consistent. You can throw statistics out of the game when trying to compare UH to other teams in the Nation, as there were many games where UH didn't play their first team, Thelle didn't even play in the games in N. Carolina, and the fact that he still managed to tie the career Ace leader in UH history without playing quite a few games shows how much he's meant to this team while he's been here. There is no doubt that Thelle will be the best setter that UH has ever had. It was when he was inserted as the setter in 2019 that this team went to the NCAA Finals in 2019, won it in 2021 and 2022, and hopefully can take them to appear again in 2023. He is the oil that was needed to make this machine go, the parts has changed, but the engine is still revving.
@@locomojoboy2 Joe Worsley did not take them to the NC game in 2019, he did not win 2 National Championships, Thelle has an opportunity to win a 3rd NC in a row, he did not serve as much service Aces, nor was he 6'6" and a blocker and attacker like Thelle. Do you label someone as a best setter in UH history of all time based on accomplishments or not? Thelle was in 3 of the last 3 Final National Championships, and if they do it again, his 4th.
@Hankakah Joe Worsley was the setter in 2019, and he did take the team to the NCAA finals against Long Beach. Thelle was just a serving sub in 2019, his freshman year. In 2020, Thelle was starter as setter, then Sheward became the starter on the road trip to tge Midwest. Thelle was inserted as setter in the 2nd match against BYU in March 2020 and solidified his role of the starting setter since that reverse-sweep win.
@@BerryinHI My bad, I was thinking of the time that BYU swept UH in 2020, at home and Sheward was the setter. When UH played them again, Sheward was setter and lost the first set. They brought in Thelle in the 2nd set but seemed to run so much better but still lost to go down 0-2. UH then won the next 3 with Thelle as setter for the reverse sweep. It was from then that with Thelle as the setter, UH has not looked back.
@@hankakah4180 I labeled him the best setter for the very simple fact that he sets the ball better than Thelle. He didn’t have fluctuations of good setting followed by bad setting that was too close to the net that it forced his hitters to change how they’re going to attack it, resulting in them hitting the net or pin. That happened with Thelle regularly this season. I don’t care about whether or not Joe made it to nationals and won national championships, or about how many blocks or aces he got. I care about his ability to set the ball, and set the ball consistently as much as possible. Worsley did this. Thelle did not.
Even though this match is nearly a year and half old, still watch it. As for the Hawai'i fans, ever since the Holiday Bowl and ESPN ripped Hawaii for lack of fans- NO MORE excuses. We in Paradise can bring it too!
Thank you so very much UH Volleyball Fan. So appreciative and grateful that you took the time to upload this match.
THANK YOU FOR THE UPLOAD!!!!!
