@@CyclingMikey ALL are very good points. I've often wondered why the cell phone manufacturers aren't REQUIRED to address this issue? I mean with all of the ways these phones are constantly tracking you (even with location off), it seems like it would be fairly easy to disable/suspend (at least) texting, social media apps, and internet (except gps) if the phone is moving faster than say 5-6mph (fast walking speed) and for 30-60 seconds after it has stopped moving. I rode a bicycle in my town for a few years (while driving a cab for work) and I grew up riding motorcycles. I've seen first hand (many times) how quickly things can go sideways when it comes to inattentive drivers.
This driver wasn't antagonised. He just chose to be offended that I a) filmed him using his phone and then b) laughed when he dropped it because of the camera. When you're caught doing wrong, just admit it and don't plot your revenge like a 3yo with a tantrum.

Mikey I hope you’re relying on more than your camera and trust, there are some seriously violent people out there that mean to do people harm. Stay safe.

It looked like urine. Once this type of waste is absorded in to skin then it can lead to aids, germs or permanent health diseases to skin and inside. He is lucky it wasnt that, either.
Have you ever tried your Gandalf Corner filming in South London; and I’m not thinking Dulwich or Wimbledon. Some areas, your parked bike wouldn’t last ten minutes 😬
It's not though because a) it's not illegal on a bike and b) there's a specific 999 call exemption anyway. Had any of the drivers I'd filmed been making a 999 call I wouldn't have reported them and/or they'd have had a perfect defence in court.
As above the only exception is when calling the emergency services, that was a emergency service call to 999 (and reasonably genuine) so wouldn't count.
This is what made me get a helmet cam. Years ago, I was once cycling along beside a park on a hot day, stopped to wave car through double-parked narrow section, as they passed...twat in rear seat leaned out of window and spat a liquid into my face. I tasted like lemonade.. The car sped off I turned a corner before I could read the plate + hardly anyone about to witness. I was so shocked (what if it was acid?) and angry. But I calmed down, rode home & promptly ordered a helmet camera.

I have only seen a few of these but as an advanced driver I applaud you for this voluntary work that the police are too overstretched to cover completely. My youngest is on the road a lot and cycling is his career so good to have such great dedication, AND real patience and politeness!
After watching a few motorway crashes with people on their phones, mikey is scaring these people away from doing something even more reckless. He’s doing a great thing
"...too overstretched to cover completely." Overstretched? Go to any police station, break out a camera and start filming the parking lot. Watch all the coppers come rushing out to charge someone with suspicious behavior.
The police are not overstretched they would soon tackle a camera person than take on a criminal. Bone idol. There’s not a single situation that the police don’t make worse
Regulation 110(5) provides that no offence is committed where a person makes a call to the emergency services on 999 or 112 in response to a genuine emergency, where it is unsafe or impracticable for them (or the provisional licence holder) to cease driving whilst the call is made.

This is hilarious, to the point that you actually report his crime when you're pumped up, cycling and on the phone, see 7:05. which I believe could be seen as careless cycling and could be used as evidence against you in court if you were to cause an accident! breaches of Rules 66 and 68 of the highway code. Anyhoo, Great video, but reckon you should have stopped chasing when you caught him parked up, funny how powerfully adrenaline affects the body, mind and ones judgement!
That's exactly right.Quite a number of countries do background checks via various databases. Range Rover boy may find it a problem travelling to certain countries or indeed getting turned right around back to to Uk on arrival. Also some companies conduct a background check for employment. Throwing that water on Mikey might cost Range Rover boy more than he imagined in terms of his future travel and employment prospects. Perhaps he should have thought of that first. Too bad, so sad.
There's also the less tangible effect it may have on famly life. The father _might_ (judging by the repoted reaction) have thought their offspring was a better person than they ended up being. Hard to maintain the same level of respect for somebody when you're faced with evidence of what kind of person they really are...
Lol at the chicken sound at 3:31, it sounds extra realistic cause he was out of breath and it was funny the faces on the NPCs of seeing a man running making chicken sounds
This dude is a proper weirdo though. He’s like a bridge troll guarding the road! “The days of driving without fear of consequences are long gone!” Dude is like a busy body tattle tale!
Its funny how you pull out your phone at the end of the video, while riding your bike ON the road too.. did you report that too? ref: 7:07 , also quite clearly look down at it.
Thank god it was only water, especially when you remember the problem of people throwing acid in others faces a few years ago. He deserved a much harsher punishment.
I do sometimes find these an uncomfortable watch. Mikey you do goad these people when you laugh at them and tell them they are getting 6 points. I have also noticed that on some vids you ride your bike round the driver's side of the vehicle which puts you in the oncoming carriageway so you can film the driver or call them out. Is that a bit inconsistent with your desire to improve road behaviour? Isn't it creating an issue for the oncoming drivers? I do admire what you are doing but I just have a few concerns about this.
Oh, he was on his phone in the car at the very beginning of the video, and when he noticed me filming, he dropped it and it went clunk against the car seat rails. I laughed and he got upset.
That's quite brave of you to get so close to him whilst recording and also to chase him. He really was a chicken! Are you as vigilant with getting up close and recording fellow cyclists who break the law also?
Why would one concern oneself with law-breaking cyclists? Might as well crack down on renegade pram pushers! You're just another entitled driver who cannot accept responsibility for your actions. Or your homicidal tendencies! When cyclists start killing by the hundreds of thousands worldwide, maybe we'll crack down on their law-breaking. But since the greatest danger posed to society is indeed drivers - by a VAST margin - it makes sense to address a problem causing the most harm. Or would you rather the police focus on candy stealers and leave the murderers and rapists alone? PS Another example: in California, driving a bicycle while drunk comes with a maximum fine of $250.00 and no jail time. A driver will face all sorts of fines and costs reaching $10,000 and some jail. "HOW CAN THAT BE FAIR???" scream the drivers! Because drunk cyclists don't kill thousands and wipe entire families out. Hard for you to wrap your gasoline-addled brain around it, but that's what's called a sensible approach to laws and law enforcement.

The gardener in LM63BTZ was on the phone whilst driving along, and quite likely had been doing it for some considerable part of his journey. These phone users are constantly using their phones, but it's just much easier to catch them when they're in the queue.
4) Phone distraction lasts for a good 10 minutes after you put the phone away. Even if you're only using the phone in each traffic queue at each junction (which is highly unlikely), then you're constantly topping up your mental distraction and are basically as disabled as a drunk driver.
5) Phone driving is worse than drink driving for distraction rates, and that's why it's part of the #Fatal4 behaviours that police target heavily.
6) Mobile phone laws are about to get even more restrictive because of the govt, police, DfT all recognising the danger of phone use. New laws coming in in 2021.
7) People who knowingly break minor driving law will likely also break more serious laws. Strong policing of minor traffic offences has a strong effect on reducing collisions resulting in killed and seriously injured people. It's good to police these phone drivers.
I'm really not interested in this nonsense of "it's not dangerous when stationary, because it clearly is and it's clearly still very appropriate to catch these drivers.
@@baconoverflow4384 Have you ever noticed how few bicycle riders and pedestrians are on the M25? 😏 LoL 😂 I'm just joking around with you. 🙂
Watch a few of these now and I have a question. Once you have the footage, why do you then have to antagonise the drivers?
This driver wasn't antagonised. He just chose to be offended that I a) filmed him using his phone and then b) laughed when he dropped it because of the camera. When you're caught doing wrong, just admit it and don't plot your revenge like a 3yo with a tantrum.
@@CyclingMikey no agreed not this one, but a lot of them you do antagonise in my opinion

Maybe its time bicycles have visible registration so they can be reported for traffic law violations and offenses while a small licensing fee could contribute to the upkeep of bike lanes. When you video people, I think it would be best for you just not to engage at all. When you say things like "that was hilarious" you are then going to get a reaction, one of these times it won't be just words and you put yourself in danger. Just record, then prosecute.

Have you ever tried your Gandalf Corner filming in South London; and I’m not thinking Dulwich or Wimbledon. Some areas, your parked bike wouldn’t last ten minutes 😬
7:08 You should have stepped off your bike when calling the police though. You litteraly did the same thing as the people you are busting.
It's not though because a) it's not illegal on a bike and b) there's a specific 999 call exemption anyway. Had any of the drivers I'd filmed been making a 999 call I wouldn't have reported them and/or they'd have had a perfect defence in court.
@@CyclingMikey Agreed!
Best chicken impressions I've ever heard 😄
Having watch a few of your videos I must say you have MASSIVE cojones and fair play to you for what you do. Absolutely fantastic.
90 for that guy doesn't seem much.
What about fine for using phone ?
Why would you laugh at him when he dropped his mobile, provoking idiots is dangerous. They just don't have the mind to control themselves.
I love you Mikey, and I request you not to get into fights, provoke, or be rude towards people who aren't decent enough to respect other people's life while driving vehicle.
Mate am binge watching your videos, am a vehicle driver and a delivery driver and also a cyclist. What you are doing is amazing keep it up. Sure makes me improve my driving too.
I thought he'd come to deliver some Milk tray chocolates to you the way he was dressed! 🤣🤣
"...too overstretched to cover completely."
Overstretched? Go to any police station, break out a camera and start filming the parking lot. Watch all the coppers come rushing out to charge someone with suspicious behavior.
The police are not overstretched they would soon tackle a camera person than take on a criminal. Bone idol. There’s not a single situation that the police don’t make worse
2:33 when you make the chicken noise and everyone looks at you I was sobbing
Was that your phone In your hand while you were cycling, same as he had while in a traffic queue?
999 calls are a specific exemption in law, dude.
Regulation 110(5) provides that no offence is committed where a person makes a call to the emergency services on 999 or 112 in response to a genuine emergency, where it is unsafe or impracticable for them (or the provisional licence holder) to cease driving whilst the call is made.

Been waiting for something like this to happen or worse. This is why u can’t go round reporting people the way u do. Ur bound to get assaulted. It’s not ur job to do wot u do fella. If u see someone doing something against the law and report them that’s ur choice and look out but don’t do it the way u do rubbing it in their faces laughing and joking antagonising them and the fact their licences and insurance costs will b affected. I literally don’t know who u think u are. U have no right standing in the middle of the road telling motorists to go back and blocking them. U are just an ordinary member of the public. And in many of ur vids right infront of u I have seen cyclists breaking the law going thru red lights for example but u just let them b. I think ur in the wrong mr and should go about things diff.

It ain’t the skill it’s the Will.
The irony of believing he could taunt you, when all he achieved was to show your camera his VID! Great observation skills and a good result.
It's an emergency services call, fella. Specific exemption for drivers, and quite apart from the fact that it wouldn't be illegal on a bicycle anyway.

That's exactly right.Quite a number of countries do background checks via various databases.
Never heard of a cyclist getting points on their bike license for that
Did you also show the police the end of the video where you took your phone out whilst riding ? 😂
a) it's not illegal on a bicycle anyway, and b) it was for a 999 call which is a specific exemption for drivers. Do keep up at the back.

Thank god it was only water, especially when you remember the problem of people throwing acid in others faces a few years ago. He deserved a much harsher punishment.
This is hilarious, the chicken sounds just make this video. I so wish you had seen him before he drove off.
Splashed water on the guy and took off running and then hid!?!? That's pretty lame. I hope his mates all see this video.
If you caught up with him what was you going to do mikey?
Why didnt you block him with your bike?, just let him drive off?!

The general public would of just seen a bloke running past them making chicken noises 😂
Handled this better than I would have! It likely would have shaken me up
I won't lie, the water throwing made me jump 🤣

What was the reason for him throwing water in the first place
Oh, he was on his phone in the car at the very beginning of the video, and when he noticed me filming, he dropped it and it went clunk against the car seat rails. I laughed and he got upset.
@@CyclingMikey Aah thank you, i didn't realise it was the same person from the car.

It's a shame you couldn't also get him for the phone offence. Well done for keeping your cool.
Imagine if that was acid liquid. Throwing liquid is assault.
That's quite brave of you to get so close to him whilst recording and also to chase him. He really was a chicken!
Are you as vigilant with getting up close and recording fellow cyclists who break the law also?
I didn’t think he would respond to that tbf… he would turn a blind eye for sure
He comes across as a prick tbf, wouldn't be surprised
But then you pull your phone out at the end while operating a bicycle....?
There’s a specific 999 call exemption.
So u make money off of ruining peoples days and posting it?
There will definitely be a news report about this guy getting hospitalised at some point.
