  • Happy Birthday to the Baby-Faced Assassin, Ted Irvine! And to celebrate the big day, Teddy’s giving a play-by-play account of the New York Rangers 1972 Stanley Cup Playoff run! It was probably the biggest moment of his hockey career in New York, and he shares details and stories about his team’s incredible run from beating Chicago and Montreal to losing the Finals at home to Boston in 6 games. Teddy talks about the Rangers’ stacked lineup at the time, which included goalies Ed Giacomin and Gilles Villemure, Bruce MacGregor, Billy Fairbairn, Rod Gilbert, Brad Park, Jean Ratelle, Rod Seiling, Pete Stemkowski, Walt Tkazcuk, Bobby Rousseau, and team captain, Vic Hadfield. He remembers what it was like to face Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito on the ice and what it was like to prevent Boston from winning the Cup in their home rink! He also recalls his trade from LA to New York, negotiating his own contract and winning over the tough-as-nails New York fans.

Chris thank you so much for interviewing your dad! I am a Bruins fan but not a Rangers hater. I love the rivalry! That season 71-72 was my favorite season of all time! All the best to you and your dad

Interviews like this help show why you have connected with the fans so well over the years.
A bit of reality mixed in with pro wrestling keeps it real and shows that you are relatable to the average Joe.
