      @@momobarro6916 i agree but don't sleep on rod. he wasn't as fast but his coverage was just as good and he hit like a linebacker. and LT was more popular but he and reggie white were about the same caliber. but yeah LT was the sh!t.

    I was in elementary school when he got drafted and then working as a teacher when he retired! He was the truth from the very first time he touched the football in the preseason. He ran a punt back for a touchdown.

      Deion was nowhere close to being up there with him. Deion was not that fast. You know who might have been up there with him? Rod Jones of the Bengals. He caught Bo Jackson from behind on a breakaway run.

    I used to go to Kingsville and watch Green play at A@I.He was a little beast always the fastest guy on the field even in the NFL.At 50yrs old he ran a 4.4 40 yd he's probably faster than most dbs in the league right now.He ran everyone down even with tootsie rolls in his socks.

      Darrell Green beat every Olympic sprinter in the NFL during his career. They had a program in the off-season where NFL players competed. You cannot name anyone who beat him running. He was an Olympic caliber sprinter in college. He actually ran down and caught every fast player he played against in the NFL. Name someone you think can beat him, and you would be wrong.

      I don't know about Bob Hayes, but he definitely could beat OJ running. I am 65 and actually saw BOB Hayes play, and that would have been interesting. There were quite a few Olympic sprinters in the NFL during Green's career, and he beat everyone of them.

    I have heard that in practice he ran a time of 4.19, whatever it was he is fast, I dont have any reason to discount much of what he says, he is my favorite player of all time, I have met him he is a first class person.

    Make no mistake about it Darrell Green is the fastest man who ever played in the NFL. I remember seeing him beat Olympic sprinter and gold medalist Carl Lewis in the 100 back in the day. I don't see anyone else being able to do that.

      No. Your memory fails you. Green never beat Lewis in a 100m. Green's best 100m is 10.08. that ranks him 8th all time in NFL history.

      @@whattheyourgae9627 Double Incorrect. What do you mean no person alive saw him play? Bob retired in 1975. So any one born before 1970 could have seen him play. Hayes ran 10.06 fully automatic timing in the 1964 Olympic 100m final. That record stood for 4 years.

      In 1986 Darrell blew Hershels doors off in the Dallas invitation , plus Hershels fastest wind legal 100m time 10.23 Darrell is 10.08

    I believe he held the indoor 60m WR for a moment (taken from carl) in college. He supposedly ran 4.1 in college.
    However unlike most other "fast" guys he was willing to prove it. Deion had plenty opp to run in the fastest athlete competitions in the 90s, but he preferred the myth not be tarnished.
    And no, bo and deion were not faster than Green. Tyreek Hill is possibly faster when you consider his track times.

      Green never held any world records indoor or outdoor. Green ran 10.08 100m Bo 10.44, Sanders, 10.26, Hill 10.19. Green was faster than all of them. But his time ranks him 8th all time in NFL history.

    Go back and look at all the NFL fastest men Darrell competed in. Those were 60 yards. One of those he won he ran 6.16.

      I doubt it. Dorsett retired as 2nd all time rusher in NFL history. He got college and pro championships. He got college and pro hall of fame. He got a Heisman trophy. He is one of the greatest running backs of all time. Green was great but he cant claim as much as Dorsett - who has a legacy to overshadow any trivial shit. And with the CTE that Dorsett has now, he probably has forgotten Green altogether.

    No, Deion has NOTHING to say about this. Deion was literally not even a Top 100 all-time speed guy. He had good, not great speed. 4.4-4.5. Sanders was absolutely SMOKED in the 1990 Superstars competition 100 yard race by Willie Gault (9.6 to 10.2), and lost to Flipper Anderson as well. T.O. himself in his 2001-2010 form would have beaten Deion over any distance, any time. Deion's mythical "great speed" came from the land of handheld stopwatches and people who don't know how to gauge speed and think returning interceptions for touchdowns and showboating means you have elite speed.

      @@MikeBNumba6 It is very close between Hayes and Green, NFL.com had green 1 and hayes 2. Green ran a 10.09 100m in college without real training for it, his 40 was 4.09 reportedly. Also consistently ran these times for years, Bo has a very fast time in college but speed changed from day to day and year to year, Green was fast for 20 years big difference.
