I'm currently reading The Day The World Came to Town by Jim Defede. It is a nonfiction set in Gander, Newfoundland on September 11. I don't normally read nonfiction, but this one has certainly captured my interest.
Yessss animal crossing!! That game is so soothing i love it so much, definitely got me through 2020 - though it was almost impossible to buy at the time as everyone else had the same idea 😂 I like listening to the soundtrack for it in the background because I've found it's literally impossible to be stressed when listening to animal crossing music. Jennifer L Armentrout is always so addictive to read I find. Like her writing isn't always the best but damn if she doesn't know how to hook your attention from the start. Currently reading Wheel of Time book 1 (so so good!!) Loved your vlog as always!! Hope you feel more rested this week 🍄🌿☺️
I had seen Jean's vlog with your visit to Portobello and it made me regret not having visited Portobello Books myself in spite of three separate visits there (going to St. Andrews Fish and Chips, and the bookshop was closed each time). I've only been back home for a week, and I already miss Edinburgh! Currently reading Hare House, which was highly recommended by the bookseller at Waterstone's, but I just wish something would happen--more than halfway through and not much has been going on.

I feel you on just being obsessed with games lately. I started playing Fable and Dreamlight Valley and have found myself not wanting to do anything else.
As a fellow chronic illness warrior I know the feeling of just wanting to stay in and do as little as possible! The start of this year has been rough health wise and it's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one having a flare up. A friend lent me The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell which isn't my usual type of read but I am surprisingly enjoying it- I guess trying new things occasionally pays off! Thank you as always, Ashleigh. I tend to my keep my TBR pared down to Next and Later with Next being the one book I am most likely to read after I finish the one I'm on. Everything else gets piled in Later. I have ideas and sometimes orders and themes, but I find specifically planning more than one or two books ahead is stressful and I don't need that! I am reading Margaret Atwood's The Testaments right now, and expect I will need something lighter as a follow-up. We shall see. Huzzah for slouchy green jumpers! Animal Crossing is my partner's favourite game, and I quite enjoy it as well. I do not consider myself a gamer, but I do play a lot of Pokémon Go. 🏳🌈📚🦄

I did a similar thing with my phone, but it is more green and forest-like. I don't have an icon changer on my phone and all the ones I downloaded had an annoying watermark. Plus, I feel like I may be confused as to what things are. I though also ave some paintings as pictures on my phone. It is nice having it personalised in this way.
I have loved Animal Crossing since the first one came out and an so happy that you discovered it for you.Really helps me get my mind off things and just doing silly little tasks in the game without pressure feels so good📚

I recently finished book 4 and I feel it only goes downhill. I still binge the series and will read it to the end, but I miss the romance and conversations in books 1&2

I love the FBAA series but do agree with you on the repetition front 😂🙈 I also liked Book 3 even though I know many people DNF’ed the series there. I enjoyed Book 4 too and am looking forward to the final book (which is out in 2024) ☺️ I will say that the writing remains fairly consistent but I am addicted to the romance and the side characters.. they draw me in each and every time 🥰

I have chronic illness I have liver kidney disease and need a transplant I also have lupus and now they are sending me to the cancer center for lymphoma. I know all too well how those rough days are. If you ever want to talk I’m here! My daughters both have autoimmune my oldest has dysautonomia and lupus and my youngest has autoimmune and a pituitary tumor. We live at specialist. Reading is my escape. Seriously if you ever want to talk who knows I may can suggest some things that can help. Sending hugs from Virginia
Personally i'd stay clear from Serpent and Dove. It's really disrespectful for the French feminist history, French witches history and, to be frank, French culture and history in general. The French in the book was not proofread by anyone who'd be actually qualified in French either, and that, for me, was like a symptom of all that was bad about this book. About games though, I'm almost scared to say because ooooh boy is it addictive, but I feel like you'd really like Stardew Valley (which is available on switch as well!). It's a very cozy farming sim where you manage your own little farm in a village after fleeing from the city and corporate work. Incredibly feel good and peaceful. Honorable mentions for games that are also on switch and could fit within your vibe and tastes: Cozy Grove, Spiritfarer and Hades. Hades is very different from the other three I listed, but it's very fun and, as the title suggests, centered on greek mythology!
Nettle & Bone I thought was quite fun, a bit inconsistent in the vibe and characterisation at times, but easy to read with fun, enjoyable characters. I've also had a bad week, been quite sick and couldn't work, so ended up reading that book and it did cheered me up a bit. It's just a really good book for someone who's feeling a bit down. On the other hand, I detested the Book Eaters, the blurb is a lie, just FYI. It's a weirdly modern fantasy where the "gothic, dark academia book eaters" aren't really there at all and the world building was very poorly thought out, in my opinion. Not a spoiler but going into a bit more detail - please ignore if you are not interested: The book eaters is a lot about motherhood, cults and domestic violence, which is very much not what I was expecting based on the promotional material. I know I'm not the only one who thought there was a large mismatched between how the book was marketed and what it is actually about and I think that can really spoil ones enjoyment of it. Also
