@@CalebDowning How's the reliability been? Seems that they're actually stocking them sometimes now and I've been tempted to pick one up and pair it with a Riflespeed gas block.
@Spencebot42 Once I got a hr system tuned, it’s been pretty reliable. This system is not as reliable as a standard AR system but it’s still been really fun. If they added the ability for a forward assist then that would fix most of the issues I’ve had.
I did put in an adjustable gas key and that did help. I also just kept shooting my other hit and it’s running better now. They are just taking a lot longer to break in. Some kind of adjustable gas key/block really does help though.
I hear ya, the more “adjustable” something is the more it’s tendency to break. I will say though, this system works very well in my mini 300BLK build without any adjustable systems. I got an adjustable gas block for it but I don’t think I’m going to install it since it’s shooting well and piling the brass where it needs to without it 👍 And yes, this is absolutely cheaper than those other options 😁
@@CalebDowning I'm a Springco Blue for Middys and Springco Red for Cars . For both Blue and Red Colt H2 is standard. I'd be interested to see if that SPRING for this system can hang with SPRINGCO Spring. I believe Springco is rated for 150K cycles before it needs changed out .
This guy can have the same issue. They sent out a heavier spring and that seemed to help out. Also I’ve been shooting this system as regularly as I can and I think it’s simply breaking in and working better now. If you insert and full magazine on a closed bolt and then rack the charging handle, it will still be a little sluggish from time to time and not fully seat. However, if you lock the bolt to the rear and then drop the bolt instead of charge the handle, then it chambers that first round much better.
@@CalebDowning have you tried 20 round mags? Also how about the law tactical one? Didnt you get both? Cause I've been wanting to build like a star wars pistol maybe 6 inch or something. But not sure what to go with if any.
I have used metal GI 20rd mags and they worked well with 5.56 but they don’t always feed 300BLK. If your gonna build a mini AR then I’d suggest looking at “Pro2A Tactical”. They have some really unique 5” barrels for 300BLK, 5.56, and even 7.62x39… well priced too 👌 To answer your question though… I do have both systems but I prefer the EWS. The problem with the EWS is that your looking at a potential 2 year lead time 🤯 The Law Tactical ARIC will be easier to come by but it’s not as good as the EWS in my opinion.
I received a message from the company on instagram. They said new orders would be shipping in February-ish. Hopefully that's the case because I bought one lol
Great review, but pls use brass ammo. Looks like you got some 223 tulammo. That ammo jams up any AR I've used. Some hiccups might be because of gas tuning. You need a adjustable gas block.
Only way I could get it reliable is with an adjustable gas block. Since there's no buffer to change the weight of.....gas adjustment is the only way. The bolt lugs also took some massaging to get to seating smoothly.
Yo yo yo… do you know or have you tried a “POF Roller Cam Pin Upgrade Kit 00393 $56 “ in the EWS BCG? It could help with friction & wear, which would help stripping the bullets out of the mag / full chambering. 🤷♂️ Thoughts???
Nice video I’ll just leave bufferless AR to the piston driven ARs MCX JAKL and BRN I don’t like the extra length added in the back might as well get the law tactical folder.
The MCX is loosely based off an AR. The AR-18. Also did anyone else open their mouth when he flagged the camera and think "finally its my time"? No? Just me?
When did you order? The website makes it look like they're available and in-stock but if they're taking orders without having your order fulfilled yet and it's been a while then maybe I'll wait until they update their website or something. Not impressed with their customer service so far.
@@CalebDowning indeed. Still waiting. Wondering if they lost my order because the last three times they said "should have an update for you by the end of the week" and then nothing. Now I'm getting no response at all
That could be part of it. Since shooting this video the EWS has smoothed out and is working without a hitch. The ARIC still has first round seating issues.
Now this isn't coming from experience, as I only just got my adjustable gas block (agb) and still need to tune my own rifle but from the heavy research that I've done; this bufferless bcg seems to like gassy systems if you pay attention to the ejection pattern. However there were one or two bits that seem to contradict that (the 16 inch gun and not locking open some times)... But otherwise it seems to like gassy systems and has good ejection patterns right out of the box with the agb fully open or standard gb, from what I could tell. But one thing that was pretty interesting was the fact that there was more forward ejections from unsuppressed/longer barrel and gas systems, which is a normal symptom of suppressed/short gas system arms. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I am human after all. It seemed to do the exact opposite when you pay attention to the ejection pattern. This is why I think maybe I'm understanding something wrong because it's defying normal theory on the ejection pattern and causality. However I have no idea what kind of hardware is being run in these guns which could be making all the difference. I'd like to know what other people think. Thank you so much for the video and I hope to see more.
The 16” rifle has an adjustable gas block that is tuned for suppressed, steel cased ammo(generally underpowered), with a Vltor A5 buffer system. That would be one major factor in why it behaved differently and out of the “norm” for a 16” gun. I have noticed that it is more difficult to get this system to exhibit the traditional “over gassed” symptoms. It will eject forward if 3 o’clock but not as drastic as traditional systems will. I’m honestly not sure man, but that’s some very astute observations. It’ll be interesting to see what others say as well 🤔
These type of bufferless bolt carrier have probably very litle cycling mass. I suppose Maybe they could try adding mass by making it out of tungsten. Lage Manufacturing made tungsten bolt I suppose that ar-15 bolt carrier is possible.
Might be it needs to be broken in a bit, or the rifle being not cleaned with a new/clean bcg may be causing these jams. Still, bot EWS and the Law Tactical ARIC system have had similar problems.
Running it with just the grease out of the box in cold weather might have affected this. Why wouldn't you work your own lube into every part of it before shooting with it?
I generally like to run new items “as-is” or dry. I have found that this helps accelerate the break in period in most cases. I was dumping oil on these things off camera and they still gumming up. I think the negative degree weather had something to do with that 🥶
Im unconvinced. I still like the folding mechanism, but so far using the buffer spring seems the most reliable. Shame really, but it will continue to drive sales to the rifles actually built with the internal bcg/spring. I'm not ready to buy one yet.
I’ll give IG a try. I was also contemplating buying the arik instead and attaching a folding stock adapter to the rear of the law tac folder itself. This should in theory be compatible and allow me to use any stock I want.
man I wish I could afford an EPS Bufferless BCG it is a much more viable option compared to the Law Tactical ARIC, and more cost effective. by the time you buy the LAW Tactical ARIC, and the LT Folder, you are close to $800 in it. with the EWS Bufferless you dont need anything else to make it work. the only true problem I can see with either system, besides me being a poor is, Stock Status and lead times. Dont let these people harass you, at least you have both sytems and were patient enough to wait great content awesome review
Thanks Mr Short 👊🏻 EWS is my preferred choice for the reasons you stated. If you are looking to make a short system then the EWS is worth saving up and waiting for 👍
7.62 won't work because it has way less pressure than 223. I only know that because of a failed 7.62 piston build, not enough pressure to run it, maybe on a pistol length gas system.
I've been emailing these fuckers for literally two years, after I placed an order in March of 2021. @Tariq_F._Raheem86 again, I feel your sentiment. I’ve got a couple of those complete systems you mentioned and they do work great. But none of them are a “drop-in” for your pre existing system. The EWS does need some kind of endplate/buffer tube deletion, so it’s not 100% “drop-in” either. They do need to get on the ball and upscale if they want to really break out and grow. @Spencebot42 Once I got a hr system tuned, it’s been pretty reliable. This system is not as reliable as a standard AR system but it’s still been really fun. If they added the ability for a forward assist then that would fix most of the issues I’ve had.

1y update? Did you replace the gas key?
I did put in an adjustable gas key and that did help. I also just kept shooting my other hit and it’s running better now. They are just taking a lot longer to break in. Some kind of adjustable gas key/block really does help though.
Not going into battery shows a spring strength issue. Some springs and there easily could be a great tuning capability for this system.
I agree. It’s probably hard to get a properly strength spring in so small of a space.
@@CalebDowning yup. Such a small space to put in a heavy spring but offer a really high degree of adjustment and refinement for a short AR PDW build.
Will it work with the 22 drop in conversion?
Very interesting. I'm usually not a fan of Adj Gas Block for Duty / Go Too Rigs .
This system is way cheaper than SPEAR LT or BRN-180 .
I hear ya, the more “adjustable” something is the more it’s tendency to break. I will say though, this system works very well in my mini 300BLK build without any adjustable systems. I got an adjustable gas block for it but I don’t think I’m going to install it since it’s shooting well and piling the brass where it needs to without it 👍
And yes, this is absolutely cheaper than those other options 😁
@@CalebDowning I'm a Springco Blue for Middys and Springco Red for Cars . For both Blue and Red Colt H2 is standard.
I'd be interested to see if that SPRING for this system can hang with SPRINGCO Spring. I believe Springco is rated for 150K cycles before it needs changed out .
It’s be interesting to see for sure 🤔 I’m generally a Blue spring as well 👌
Id say best way to go with this is a 16 in mid length
@@Matt-g1u I would say just get BRT EZ TUNE GAS TUBE and have any CUSTOM port size you want
Are you using law tactical back end folder?
No, I’m using the parts that came with the EWS kit.
So how is this working as far as the bolt going home? cause mac just dropped the law tactical bcg and showed in wouldnt chamber half the time.
They have some really unique 5” barrels for 300BLK, 5.56, and even 7.62x39… well priced too 👌
To answer your question though… I do have both systems but I prefer the EWS. The problem with the EWS is that your looking at a potential 2 year lead time 🤯 The Law Tactical ARIC will be easier to come by but it’s not as good as the EWS in my opinion.
How much does it weigh?
will this thing trip a fosgate binary, FRT , or select fire lower?
I believe this one should work with those. I’ll have to put it in my FA lower and see 🤔
@@CalebDowning thank you.. i would appreciate ithat
I want one, but I can't wait a year or more after payment.
I received a message from the company on instagram. They said new orders would be shipping in February-ish.
Hopefully that's the case because I bought one lol
It is a long time to wait for sure but it’s been worth it for me. 🤷♂️
have had 2 on paid in full back order for 3 years
Yup 🤦♂️😏
Great review, but pls use brass ammo. Looks like you got some 223 tulammo. That ammo jams up any AR I've used. Some hiccups might be because of gas tuning. You need a adjustable gas block.
Brass ammo is nice but it’s more expensive. The best way to make that happen is to get more of y’all over on Patreon 😉
Are you using that guns bolt or the bolt that came with the system?
Does EWS offer any other spring weights?
I’m using the system “as-is” from EWS. Currently EWS does not offer any additional spring weights.
What mic do ya use? Sounds amazing. Good video. You also midwestern by chance?
Thanks man. I use the Sennheiser MK600. We’re acutely up in Alaska 🏔️
@@CalebDowning Alaska is nice, I'm in Ohio. Sennheiser is a good brand. Might try my microphone with gun sounds sometime.
How did you get your order fulfilled?
Patience… and I hit them up any time they posted to IG.
Today is 09/30/2023, my order is pending since 03/08/2021. Claude has stopped answering me as well. Hopefully, one of these days, maybe, but......
I’m not even gonna try and give them excuses. They have a cool product but they MUST do something about their customer service and communication.
Looks like it needs a bit more spring force behind it
They did send me some heavier springs, we’ll see how those work 👍
@@CalebDowning can't wait to see! Love to make my SBR a foldy boi lol
So far it’s been a pretty fun project. It is necessary to tune the rifle with an adjustable gas block but it’s been worth it 👍
@@CalebDowning I bet! Yeah I got a cheap low profile adjustable block. It gets the job done but I hate having to take the rail off to adjust it....
Only way I could get it reliable is with an adjustable gas block. Since there's no buffer to change the weight of.....gas adjustment is the only way. The bolt lugs also took some massaging to get to seating smoothly.
I have an adjustable gas block on one of mine and that one definitely runs better 👌
How much polishing did you do on your bolt lugs?
Yo yo yo… do you know or have you tried a “POF Roller Cam Pin Upgrade Kit 00393 $56 “ in the EWS BCG? It could help with friction & wear, which would help stripping the bullets out of the mag / full chambering. 🤷♂️ Thoughts???
I haven’t thought about putting that into the EWS 🤔 But dang that’s a good idea, I may have to try it 👍 Thanks for the idea 💡
How long did it take you to get it from time of purchase to delivery
It was just over two years.
That’s unacceptable
Bought mine july of last year and still waiting
Do you guys think I could swap the bolt and make a 45acp side folder?
I don’t think that’ll work. Unless you get a CMMG RDB bolt and then gravely modify the carrier.
@@CalebDowning yeah I realized that way too late

Nice video I’ll just leave bufferless AR to the piston driven ARs MCX JAKL and BRN I don’t like the extra length added in the back might as well get the law tactical folder.
They all have their place, but I see your concern.
The MCX is loosely based off an AR. The AR-18. Also did anyone else open their mouth when he flagged the camera and think "finally its my time"? No? Just me?
Man, I'm glad you survived. Remember, don't be tough to seek out help .
Can't wait for mine to come in [still waiting].
It’s gonna be worth it when it finally comes in 👌
When did you order? The website makes it look like they're available and in-stock but if they're taking orders without having your order fulfilled yet and it's been a while then maybe I'll wait until they update their website or something. Not impressed with their customer service so far.
I ordered mine july of last year and still waiting for mine.
@dorianthais2687 They need to really do something about their communication 🤦♂️
@@CalebDowning indeed. Still waiting. Wondering if they lost my order because the last three times they said "should have an update for you by the end of the week" and then nothing. Now I'm getting no response at all
How much do these cost? I wonder how it would perform with my gassy 11.5
They are about 400 but the time it’s shipped. It’s worked on my 11.5, that’s the gray coated upper in some of the videos I’ve done on this system.
The BCG is lacking the mass for the forward inertia to fully chamber the round
That could be part of it. Since shooting this video the EWS has smoothed out and is working without a hitch. The ARIC still has first round seating issues.
Then it needs more spring force on return. That would make up for the lack of mass
So it sounds like you need a stronger spring
That could possibly fix the problem.
If they get the bugs worked out, get into full production, and grow a customer service department, id be interested
Totally 😎🤙
I suppose
Maybe they could try adding mass by making it out of tungsten.
All possibilities. I have installed an adjustable gas block and that worked out really well 👍
Running it with just the grease out of the box in cold weather might have affected this. Why wouldn't you work your own lube into every part of it before shooting with it?
I generally like to run new items “as-is” or dry. I have found that this helps accelerate the break in period in most cases.
I was dumping oil on these things off camera and they still gumming up. I think the negative degree weather had something to do with that 🥶
@@CalebDowningyeah, AR are notorious for not being great snow guns
Im unconvinced. I still like the folding mechanism, but so far using the buffer spring seems the most reliable. Shame really, but it will continue to drive sales to the rifles actually built with the internal bcg/spring. I'm not ready to buy one yet.
They need one or two more generations of development before it would be really ready. The concept is pretty sweet I think though.
I’m just here for the Buffalo Bulk Hair group
I’m not familiar with that one 🤔
Ive emailed them and never got a response
It’s frustrating I know. I’ve had better luck getting ahold of them on IG.
Def IG. Ive been in contact with them. But i think the way IG works. Some people are ending up in a different message inbox, the request one.
I’ll give IG a try. I was also contemplating buying the arik instead and attaching a folding stock adapter to the rear of the law tac folder itself. This should in theory be compatible and allow me to use any stock I want.
I see what your saying. It should work I believe 👍
man I wish I could afford an EPS Bufferless BCG it is a much more viable option compared to the Law Tactical ARIC, and more cost effective. by the time you buy the LAW Tactical ARIC, and the LT Folder, you are close to $800 in it. with the EWS Bufferless you dont need anything else to make it work. the only true problem I can see with either system, besides me being a poor is, Stock Status and lead times. Dont let these people harass you, at least you have both sytems and were patient enough to wait great content awesome review
Thanks Mr Short 👊🏻
EWS is my preferred choice for the reasons you stated. If you are looking to make a short system then the EWS is worth saving up and waiting for 👍
Companies keep trying to make a daewoo k1, when they could just clone the daewoo k1
I had to look that one up. Interesting 🤔
So basically use a 16 in midlength
It appears both this and the ARIC are huge disappointments. We'll have to see how it works out.
Sad but true. I love innovation and I applaud companies who push the limits. Hopefully these systems will develop and move forward.
Looks more like it likes to be over gassed. So actual 5.56 is probably the key.
More gas does kinda ensure that it’ll fully cycle 👌
7.62 won't work because it has way less pressure than 223. I only know that because of a failed 7.62 piston build, not enough pressure to run it, maybe on a pistol length gas system.
Ya the system can be finicky but I’ll bet it could be made to work.
300 bk subs are super dirty

These do exist!??! 😂
Shocking I know 😱🤯
I've been emailing these fuckers for literally two years, after I placed an order in March of 2021. Still can't get a response and I can't dispute the charge online with my bank because of how old the sale is. They responded to my first email in October of 2021, and stated that my previous emails must have been going to spam, but every email I sent after that date has never been responded to. I've used different email addresses, so their reasoning is bullshit.
This is inexcusable on their part. They need to get their act together, no question about it.
Your best option, in my opinion, is to sent them IG messages and also respond to any new post you see from them on IG. That’s how I got ahold of them. It’s a cool upgrade but their process time and customer service need work.
@@CalebDowning Yeah, I gotcha. I'll probably get back on Instagram and see if they respond. I appreciate the response. Also, have you heard of people going through the same thing that I am? I figured there would be more people with a similar problem, given the magnitude of mine.
@ambusher2718 Dude it took me just over two years to get my order filled. You are not alone in this. It’s inexcusable but I can attest that they will eventually deliver. Hounds them enough on IG and you should get through. I never got much response through email(over a dozen sent emails 😏)

looks like it just needs sufficient gas
That could be part of it. Also too much gas can make the system cycle too fast and cause issues as well. I’m still playing with it.
Definitely looks like it likes to run gassy
When I added the adjustable gas block it really helped out. But your right, in the video configuration it was gassy.

I can feel your frustration completely. I have ordered and received two units from them. They can be very difficult to get ahold of but they do deliver, but it may take a couple years.. 😏
@@CalebDowning Jakl, Brn 180, foxtrot mike, sig Sauer and a few others sell complete uppers that ship same week. At only 3x the price. I’d even put the deadfoot 2.5 kit above this unit. It’s a great concept with terrible execution, logistics and planning.
When I see innovation in the firearms industry I try and encourage it the best I can. I’m not giving them a free pass though, they have plenty to work on.
@@CalebDowning understood. I’ve been watching the site patiently for 2 yrs hoping they would catch up. With the amount of preorder I do believe they should have been able to secure a loan for increases in production. It’s my concern that they didn’t. Only time will tell
