Just came across this video in October 2021. Joined junior LI Band in Shrewsbury in 1973. I left 1LI in 1980 to transfer to th RLC, but Shrewsbury still felt like a second home to me. Copthorne Barracks is now a housing estate, and to see it as it was back then brought up a lot of mixed emotions.
Brought back many great memories, I was there during 1973 learning LI drill after passing out as a Junior Soldier at Park Hall Camp Oswestry (70-72). Then we onto 2LI ( 73-85 ). Then transferred to RAPTC (86-96), now retired but will never forget my roots. The only mess dress I have in the loft is LI, I am very proud of being a member of 2LI.
Me....I never spent a day among these men. Spent 33 years with the Colours of The Royal Canadian Regiment instead....but I never-the-less feel the pride right here over in British Colombia. CEDE NULLUS, indeed!
Just saw the window my Bed Box was thrown out of....3.52....Top Floor 6th window from left of centre of block. ...Sgt Dave Jarrett at his best...😁👍 Great days though.....
This brought so many memories back of my dad. He was an RSM with the DCLI. Thank you for posting!
