I've been listening to DIIV for a couple of months now. Their live versions make me really happy like I think its the energy of them flipping their hair and jumping and that just really grunge vibe WHEN ZACH SCREAMED INTO THE MIC I LITERALLY BURST OUT LAUGHING IDEK WHY
i don't think he's acting egotistical or like he owns them at all. he only seems to say "I" when the questions are directed specifically at him in regards to things that he did, not them... they can't take credit for writing the songs. it was originally a solo project and then he got his friends together to perform the music. the bands you're talking about usually started as a band, but it's different when one guy writes and records an album in his bedroom and forms a group to play those songs
watch any interview from the early eighties with REM and this is like deja vu......... great band , great sound, i found this band only half an hour ago and i'm a fan................AND i've just found out that they are playing in my home town (Sheffield, England) in March.... going to buy tickets!!!
musicians who say "I" a lot usually are the main writers. most bands only consist of 1 or 2 main writers and then the rest of the musicians either just fill their roll or occasionally add their own ideas. bands break up out of jealousy... usually jealousy of the person writing the material. it's like The Smashing Pumpkins. Billy was the one writing everything, but they got big off of his writing, so instead of being spiteful, they should have been thankful.
I don't like moshing if it's just done for no reason other than to annoy other people and disrupt their experience. If it's done just from the joy of experiencing the music, and other people are into it, then it's fucking fun :) x x x
lol, that's ignorant... not trying to be a dick or anything, but if you're the one writing the music, you are obviously the most important person in the group. think about it, many groups have had line changes due to people leaving the band or dying and but they stay together. but if it was the writer and/or lead singer, then the band would be finished.
Am I the only one who thinks their live show is better than that record? I mean the record is definitely one of the best coming out this year, but it just failed to capture something that is unique from their live - I hate the moshing though, but it happens every time they play in NY.
Off night sorry
"thisongiscalldousditsourlassongthnku" - zach
+Patrick James Staples Spot fuckin' on.
I remember seeing the OG Diiv lineup back in 2013 ish
what a great song/performance, doused is a classic diiv song, very influential for us

the entire time i was like, all four of these are on something strong, jesus christ
+Tim Yarberry Luckily they're clean now (late 2015)
He did get caught with brown and he has lyrics about heroin. I dont know if he did prison time Cole..
F ing hipsters and the wonderful music they have
@@BGH10000Cole didn’t get clean till 2017, and I believe Colby has been clean for 2 years according to his instagram.
i am in love with zac.
Lol Cole covered up his Beach Fossils sticker.
NXNE was an awesome show right behind 2:54. Spectacular yes...
when he refers to the mumbling in doused he is def. talking about the newton recordings over there hehe =====>
so it's still pronounced 'dive', right?....
Tom yes
you saw them 8 times! hero.

This is more like an episode of Survivor now! Who’s left of this lineup??? 😂
Cole and andrew, I think
@@bruno-th6of You are right. They are the only remaining original members
well colin joined around by the time is the is are came out, so cole colin and andrew, but yeah still great band
@@snoopdoge191 he joined 3 yrs prior to ITIA
remember that DIIV is Cole's solo project
Dude on the far left was in sky high
what's the name of the guy on the far right in the beginning of the vid????
Anyone know how old they are? Zac looks so young in the interview.
he was 26 here
@@huuuuuuuu175 he was 28 here, he was born in '84 and this was in 2012 or 13.
2021, he looks like a old man.
Pense num som, pqp...
Needs more cowbell.
live show is definitely better. but im from atl and i saw them at the record release and i thought the moshing was endearing lol
Come to the Voodoo Experience - Halloween weekend in New Orleans!!!!!
he does write all the music and it started as his solo project...
is this joy division?
8 times? You lucky duck, man!
I don't like moshing if it's just done for no reason other than to annoy other people and disrupt their experience.

That's Devin, the bassist.
How does he get his pants to stay rolled up?
Tape maybe !? Lol
@@internetsummoner Genius!
OMG SO PUNK ROCK! "hard as fuck"

He's wearing an Ice Cube shirt.
So the other two are no longer in the band? Drummer and bassist.
I had no idea Colby was in this band
He's a great drummer
Dude all the way on the right looks like Jimmy Fallon

I think this album is better live honestly
sounds like they need to get their shit together. but the album is good
NY crowds are so sleepy
they kinda sound like them
wow. it wasn't that bad, imo. maybe the drummer was too turned-on, i don't know. but i liked them!
mmmm lots of wEEd
i think he was trying to make fun of whatever he thinks a hipster is.
what a horrible comment
? like that answer anyways :p
You guys shouldn't buy into interviews so much. Who knows how artists are off the interview. Why bother people trying to guess?
DIIV awsome but those symbols sound like shit...
There's tape underneath one of them o.O
what, no.
Woah, this is bad
funny. they took the time to earn enough money to buy retroish gear but didn't spend any time learning how to write music or sing in tune.
too much reverb
This is what "indie rock" has turned into?
ironic that he wrote the music so he could play shows, they're a terrible live band. Stay home and play the album for your friends dude
Have you heard their new live Vans session?
hoot504 this didn't age well lmao
Probably one of the biggest Alt Rock bands of this century so far.
