- What's the first call you would use when hunting turkeys? Turkey expert Ray Eye explains that a box call can be one of the easiest and most effective turkey hunting tools. He gives a few basic pointers and tips for when and how to use a box call.
Thanks for the video inherited a few years back from a friend that no longer hunt's due to injuries and age. A older Lynch jet 100 and Lynch 150(may favorites), was able to get a answer yesterday but he wouldn't come in. Your video is Gold bro!!!!!!
Thanks! You know turkeys! I like the wet friction box calls for rain. Thanks again. I agree Derek Thornton
Best video I've seen on the box. I prefer the box also and I've used everything including I can do the yelp with my tongue.
Sounds great. I learned many years ago on a box call. Lynch's world Champion as a matter of fact. My dad gave it to me when I was 7. I just purchased one for my 4 year old son for him to have. I don't see how anyone could even go into the woods with out a good box. Again, great video and thanks for sharing.
Exactly. The old tried and true box call is the best all around call.
Great video ! The best I've ever seen regarding a box call.
That is actually really cool that you can hunt around Devils Tower,
I agree with you. Box calls sound great .
I really like the box call im able to master it the first day of practice
box cals do not go downhill. the box calls I use are 25+ years old and are still killing turkeys. just keep them chalked up. they last forever. I just took a 24 pound tom 4 weeks ago in Michigan.
If I was gonna bet your calls are either Lynch or Lohman??
Thanks! You know turkeys! I like the wet friction box calls for rain. Thanks again.
WET FRICTION BOX CALL ? REALLY ? W.T.F. ? OVER !
what box call is that i like the rasp of it a LOT! great vid
I agree ray. box call is by far the best call to reproduce a hen. I have harvested two big toms 20+ pound birds using a lynch world champion box call. throw away the slate, mouth, trumpet etc and get a great box call, by far the best calls to use.
That looks like my Woodhaven box call.
Totally agree!
I'm going to practice with my box caller upside down before my next hunt. That's way cool. Thx
I have a few boxes that are at least 25 years old. the Lynch World Champion and the Lohman Double Thunder made of my fav wood--Black Walnut. They still sound great! I like Boxes first followed very closely by Pots and then wingbones and finally my Natural Voice. Great video by Ray!!
Great vid!!
Does regular chalk work? I have a bunch of it laying around
i started with the slate but like the box best
hey ray, who makes the box call you are using???
It looks like a Woodhaven, I have one just like it.
R.I.P. Ray
A 'good' BOX CALL SOUNDS GREAT WHEN IT'S NEW BUT GOES DOWNHILL FAST AFTER JUST A SHORT WHILE. CHALK WILL HELP A LITTLE BUT THE WEAR AND POLISHING OF THE CONTACT SURFACES IS WHAT DOES IT IN. MOUTH CALLS ARE BEST.
I'm 47 years old and never, I mean never heard that in my life. Your mileage may vary but my Lynch is still going strong, and it's got to be close to 25 years old.
I HAVE 2 LYNCH BOX CALLS AND THEY WERE GREAT FOR A WHILE BUT SOUND QUALITY WISE THEY WENT DOWNHILL QUICKLY.
TRICK-OR TREAT I've used the Dave box call for years it called in a big gobbler off of two hens last week I use box magic on mine and it sounds just as good now as it did when I bought it
WHAT IS BOX MAGIC ?
TRICK-OR TREAT it's like a rossin you put on your box call I use roosin for a violin now also on my box call I like it better than chalk
