out of phase. that's why it sounds inside out, the snare mic and the overhead mics are not phase aligned and so one is canceling a bunch of the information from the others.
Probably unpopular opinion but I've never been crazy about the way the Blue Album was recorded. It was like they wanted it to sound as grunge as possible... super heavy and dry in a way. Except for the snare, I definitely like this version better.
i'd say...recorded by chris shaw, produced by rick ocasek, and the heaviest thing to be released in 1993. nothing sounded this big at that point in time. to each his own obviously, but it's funny cause as a recording engineer myself, blue album is a benchmark for clarity and volume that i'm always gonna be chasing.
@@zs5948 and @markfwarren1 These are both fair and good points. I have never thought about Blue in these ways. This is especially when thinking about how they sounded live back then.
I always thought it sounded kind of brash and not totally hi-fi but defnitely not lo-fi at all. It's sort of in between. I think it just works that way though.
@@TheLovepools it sounds like a band, playing their song real good, loud, in a room. it's one of the last standoffs of "not wildly overproduced" music.
Not sure hoe you could hate it but this definitely rocks. You should really listen to “The Kitchen Tapes” It’s basically the blue album that sounds all like this, i’s been leaked in youtube for years now but just recently they made it available on streaming with the 30th anniversary rerelease. (Just scroll down a bit)
rizzers cuomo
He don't want that. She ain't Japanese.
As a short nerdy dude I can confirm that this photo shows the exact reason why any short nerdy dude buys an electric guitar.
*face palms* So THAT'S what I'm missing.
That's a dude in drag
@@stephenformhals3253 Alcohol helps
Fr lmao
Steve E got all the hottest chicks
This is an excellent lesson in the importance of playing less
Personally I love the excessive fills he does but yeah it does feel very crowded.
@@Shewjei I like the excessive fills, I just think the build up the final version has is better
less is more
Keep it simple stupid
@@MatrixEvolution17 more is more
turns out the homie stealing girls was Rivers all along
The vocals are so visceral. I love it.
It Cobaiñ
this is a proof of a song thats a banger in every form
Love the bright sounding single coil licks on this. Fantastic.
Why they didn't put this on Blue 30, ill never know.
This was like the version that would have been on on Pinkerton
1:10 toad ensues
why this got a st. anger snare?
Obviously Lars heard this demo and said, "hey that sounds pretty raw, I'mma try that"
out of phase. that's why it sounds inside out, the snare mic and the overhead mics are not phase aligned and so one is canceling a bunch of the information from the others.
The ring is there since it’s not muted well. That’s just how smare sounds when played like this.
Pretty typical sounding rim/muted snare. Good demo, I would personally have tightened it through a tight gate/FET compressor/limiter, and a DDL
People REALLY only associate that sound with St. Anger? Wow. Such limited musical knowledge.
This is the only version I'm listening to from now on
This is actully preatty cool
Love this version
❤ these demos 😍
This sounds so cool
I thought it said the real demons and was prepared for a reverse stairway to heaven situation 😂
this is even better than the final version
this version has more soul
Damn this slaps on its own
Both versions are pretty damn good if you ask me.
HOLY SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes .....
This is 🔥
Wish they actully played this not gonna lie
they did play this lmao
the most insane comment ive ever read
😂
@NeoxAnimates Nah bro i mean like at a show
@@thikiloramee5117 They play this song at shows all the time.
Sounds pretty cool a little more lofi charm than the record version
Way more punk-y, love it.
I wish I could pose with chicks and look like all sad like Rivers
real
I love this
Lego planes and weezer I like this channel
Nice photo
does anyone have a date on this?
Nov 1992
@@DabWxrld thanks
Rivers seems to have a date in the pic.
This is gold

Ah... The St. Anger version 😄
Rivers looking like a total Chad
Wow this is like ancient time right here
that snare is so bad but like the more shreddy version
i like it, sounds a big reggae
hating the real demo snare is a sign of weakness
it’s not a snare, they were playing squash
Lmao yeah the snare on this version is the cowbell of blue oyster cult..... also whats up with the way over effected vocals
Guitar solo is better on the blue album but this rocks!
zamn feels like funky
RIP Harambe
They should of got the kid
Best ..
wow a new Court Cobain
metal head era
People in here glazing up a snare that sounds like a plastic bucket, lmao
You're using a metaphor of cumming on a girl's face for something as plain and simple as liking something.
Less is more?
More like "You know what they say, the more the merrier!,,
shit, why all the demos sound better then the originals
Demos are the original I could be wrong but I believe the label makes them switch it up to be more mainstream
All the demos were why I had my weezer phase when I was like 16, I listened to those more than the album versions
Raw energy. I wish more artists released their material raw over polished production.
Awesome sauce
Chad Rivers
People named Chad are always douchebags in films. Not good people.
アルバムバージョンよりいいじゃないか...
こっちの方がアグレッシブで好き
I like album version more than this play
This was after they quit being a hair metal band tho...
What's the picture from?
I wanted to know too!
I thought it was Adriana from the Sopranos
🤙🤙
real
Can’t spell weezer without w
snare sounds good
Why does he sound just like the singer
Because he is lol
@andrewlloydpeterson well he's not Cuomo, but is the audio of the vocals taken from the original or am I tripping
@Dryrubbersockit is Rivers singing
I thought it said the real demons
So did I... 😂
Conbrain
sorry bro i only listen to arghoslent
if you dont like this because it “too much” your the reason why nobody likes weezer
Plot twist the redhead is a dude.
hate weezer and the original song, but this bangs
