These are kind of movies that encourage women to stay and die in the marriage even when the man assaults them physically hoping that with prayers and enduring the abuse the man will change. But when they end up dead in the hands of the oppressor/ husband most people call them foolish.
The only ones that died are the ones that didn't pray for the man. You can be in an abusive marriage, but YET not actually praying for that man. These are two different things. You can be crying but not praying because God ALWAYS hears the prayers of His children.
