    Great video! How could I get my whole pool to look purple or whatever color with just one light in the side like that? Not possible? Are there LEDS around the whole pool to get that look? Thanks

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад +3

      There are LED lights that cycle through colors with each on/off and others with wireless remote to control color directly

    I have an old pool , homemade really , the niche is just cement . Does that play a factor into the grounding ? I know these lights have a copper screw . TIA .

    I refurbished my pool and finished as of Today. Only issue is that the line is plugged up and we ran a snake to open it up and still to no avail. I guess we have to figure out another way to replace the line and bulb. Yes, line since one of my buddies decided to cut the WIRE. lol...I'll worry about that later.

    what about the water getting in the cavity when you take out the light? Do you leave the water in when you put the light back?

    • @docdeanspools

      Yep! The niche and light are designed to be fully submersed

    Why pull cable and not just replace the bulb? I’ve seen videos where bulb housing is sealed. just open housing and replace bulb. Is that possible?

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад +2

      You can replace the incandescent bulb with an LED bulb. But the newer LED fixtures are more reliable and last longer

  • @stonekold
    @stonekold 2 года назад +1

    never had to get in the pool to change the light bulb or pull cable for new fixture, just reached in with screw driver and unscrewed and always pulled from fixture to box.

      Lights are frequently installed several feet below the surface - farther than your arms can reach. When that’s the case you need to get wet

    Isn’t that a bulb with 110 V ? I wouldn’t feel safe getting into that pool unless 12 V Led is used like in this video

    So basically if that wire has a spot in it that is not insulated it's just going to short out I don't get how you're running electricity to water

    • @docdeanspools
      @docdeanspools  2 года назад +1

      Cables are double insulated, on gfi’s and the lights have failsafes for moisture

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад +1

      And they are also low voltage and bonded

      If it's just changing the bulb I was told around 150 is the average here in FL anyway.

  • @jeffbguarino

    No explanation for the new cable? Most guys don't even go in the water , just on Phillips screw to remove and it takes about 15 minutes. I have never seen the cable need to be changed and I have changed the bulbs in my two houses in Florida a few times. I had to get in the water to get the screw back in because it is too awkward trying to get it started. I usually put in a new gasket also.

    Luckily the conduit was not plugged with epoxy or cement which a lot of pool guys do to keep water from into the conduit. otherwise, you would have to drain

    • @JoshuaPchelka

      I would bet if that was the original fixture there was some sort of seal around the power cord in the niche. That's one of the top spots for leaks

    • @jeffbguarino
      @jeffbguarino 2 месяца назад

      Why did they change the power line ? I never do that. It seems absurd, unless the cable is damaged ? Really don't understand this at all.

  • @JoshuaPchelka
    @JoshuaPchelka 3 месяца назад

    Your company doesn't re-seal the power cord hole in the niche? That's one of the most common places to loose water/leak or get behind the niche over time. No bueno

    Why not use LED pool lights? This is easy to install, and more beautiful power saving

    • @drdrew3

      He DID install an LED light. He said several times and even demonstrated how much smaller the housing was compared to the old incandescent style he removed.

    • @maggiebrattoli383
      @maggiebrattoli383 Год назад

      I have the same led light it only lasted 4 years. And the replacement costs $500 for the light alone. Not the housing.
      Stick with the regular house and the screw in light bulbs that could be changed to led and color changing led.

    • @jeffbguarino
      @jeffbguarino 2 месяца назад

      @@maggiebrattoli383 These bulbs are $40 on Amazon. The gasket is 2 for about $15. It takes 15 minutes to change this bulb and you don't need to change the cable , that is absurd. The bulbs only lasted 2 years but the fix is so easy that who cares. Better to pay $40 every two years than $500 every 4 years. These bulbs are prone to burning out because they are enclosed and they might get moisture inside , so change the gasket every time.
