  • A pollinator’s delight! And, the leaves are used by leafcutter bees to line their nest cavities. With its showy clusters of brightly colored flowers and reddish-purple seed pods, this species is beautiful in all of the seasons.

So is this tree a nitrogen fixer? Is it native to Orange County California?

Early spring is a good time to look for them - that's when the flowers are at their peak. The Jepson eFlora has a good distribution map that might help you find a population. It also provides links to the Consortium of California Herbaria with detailed locations.
