    Beautiful blooms Geoff. On your cool side of the greenhouse, grow Masdevallias!

    Lovely plant Geoff thanks for that interesting information especially re peat moss never thought of that being suitable but your ignea is certainly happy 😊 Angela

      It apparently holds onto nutrients and moisture which might account for me not needing to fertilise. Although there is an issue of sustainability with it as a resource. Thank for watching Angela.

    Geoff during the hotter days of summer and your greenhouse is ventilated, I hose water on the floor several times a day which helps with humidity. You're obviously growing your Ignea to specimen size, I would divide the plant into two when you re-pot not only providing you with another Ignea but ensuring you always have one in your collection in case of the inevitable Happy Growing Buddy.

      Thanks for the tips Mick - appreciated. I can damp down in the morning and late afternoon but unfortunately I'm out working during the time of the day when it's really needed. Sod's law! I'll definitely divide it during the next repot - it's a lovely plant. :)

    Stunning 🤩 my favorite ... as I can’t grow it in Spain, I have the next best thing in bloom currently Sophronitis coccinea and I can only imagine, the ignea having the same flame markings as the coccinea has in the lip. A beautiful specimen you have there! Don’t forget to pop in a quick video when all blooms have opened 😬👍🏼

      Yeah I definitely will - shouldn't be too long to wait now. There aren't many plants with that particular intensity of red - but looks like you have one over there, too. Thanks for watching, Nina. :)

    Stunning masdavallia thanks for sharing what type of fogger do you have I have a new orchid room for cool growers I have yet to have a fogger my humidity averages 67%

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  4 года назад

      Thanks! I've got a hydro-fogger, which was quite an expensive investment but well worth it. We also get get quite high humidity on average, but then we can get sunny weeks where it's low too. I think cooler growers in general tend to cope better with lower humidity - but I guess there are always exceptions!

    Beautiful plant Geoff! I was thinking maybe I should get one until you started talking about humidity. I am not sure it would be happy here. I love the colour of yours though. Your plant looks so healthy! Congratulations on giving it a happy home! Also it is interesting about the petals. I had wondered about it fit the definition of an orchid. Thanks!

      Thank you! It makes a nice change for me to be talking about a plant that's thriving instead of one that's lost all its roots!🤣

    Thanks for the video.Beautiful orchids,Mysterious.And of course beautiful flowering.I subscribe to your channel.Good luck and prosperity)))tell me ,dark spots on the leaves of my masdevallia.I'm inclined that it's from getting water on the leaves.Do you have such a problem?

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  5 лет назад

      Thanks for watching, Elena. I haven't had any issues with spotting (yet!). But I've heard it could be due to temperatures being too high. Could that be it?

      @@Grow_Up_Man55 I see that you have clean leaves.I posted a video about Masdevallia decumana yesterday.18 gr approximately.Cool temperature

      Unfortunately, I can't speak your language - but it looks like you've probably more growing experience than I have with orchids! In my experience with plants in general, I can't say I've ever found 'water droplets on the leaves' to cause spotting, although I'm aware people often offer that as a possibility. The other options are pathogens, lack of humidity or lack of air movement. I'm assuming you've thought of these?😃

    Your is much bigger (taller) than mine, I mean leaves are longer :/ so my is more manageable but anyway I'd prefer to have yours.

      Thanks Slawomir, I'm after a larger specimen. You can see a more up to date video on these at this link. I repot it and divide it too. Hope you find it useful. ruclips.net/video/QWJkj3P7zik/видео.html
