Great to see someone who is really supporting the best environments for the snakes! Wonderful analogies, maybe in 5-10 years I’ll be ready for a superdwarf, right now I’m prepping for my first children’s python; the price point and size are going to mean it has a wonderful enclosure and I’m excited to see the behavior it’ll exhibit once it can be in the larger enclosure
The prices I have seen always turned me away but I have done more searching since you told me they were actually reasonably priced. I now have a SUPER DWARF on my list of future snakes i wish to have. Great video my friend!

Great video again Garret. Really good with your housing comparison and also noting the change in what society values as that is what it ultimately comes down to...what each person values.
Fantastic info, dude, and it proves that I'm a great guesser. I just bought my first snake! Jeeves is a 62.5% Kalatoa SD Golden Child Retic! I'm as happy as a new father!!

Dream snake! Can't imagine a snake more worth the time and energy! So amazing, smart, just plain beautiful. Super Dwarf is the only way a retic could ever be possible for me size wise but price , and I'm not faulting anyone, will never be realized. Happy you can appreciate snakes this amazing to the extent you do. I live simply too, try to still enjoy what I have. Hopefully someday a super Dwarf will be possible. Thanks for the video.
Your videos are awesome. You really put things into perspective in a clever, yet honest and undeniable way. Kudos. And I love the Hartle household size. These days we have fewer and fewer people living in larger and larger homes, and we’re all BROKE!!!

Excellent video. I love your genuine love for these animals, and giving these sorts of things lots of context and thought has really been good for reminding me to wait until I know I can provide for the animals I want to have.
Great video. You are spot on. Plus too with superdwarves being relatively new as more people breed the competiton will bring the cost down. Then there is the factor of what does the animal mean to you. I love snakes and believe that each one of mine are worth every penny.
I haven't seen any superdwarf retics for sale at the expo's here in Sweden, not really on the online platforms either, so I felt super lucky as I actually found a sales ad for a few young ones on the biggest reptile website we have here in Sweden. It turned out that the breeder lived in Poland even if he advertised on the Swedish page. My boy cost me 242€, and I sadly couldn't go to the big expo in Hamm (Germany) to pick him up myself since I had work this past weekend, but a very kind gentleman who was going to Hamm brought him to Sweden for me for a very reasonable transport fee. I paid 800 SEK, which is around 72$. Then I also had to travel a bit here in Sweden to meet up with the gentleman who picked him up for me, so over all I paid around 86$ to get him home. Feels very fair to me since it would've most likely cost me more if I had gone to pick him up in Germany. The documents in the sales ad showed a birth date of the 2nd of February 2020, so I bought a pretty big enclosure to make sure it would be big enough for my boy and so he'd be able to have it for a while before I had to upgrade it, but turns out I made an oopsie. The birth date on the document in the ad wasn't for this clutch. It was only an example so I would know what the documents I would receive looks like. The breeder had done this pairing before, resulting in a clutch 2020, so the document I saw in the ad actually belonged to my boys older brother, same parents, just an earlier clutch. My boy was born on March 9th 2023, so he's only 6 months old. I realized my mistake when I met up with the guy who picked him up for me and saw how tiny my boy is. That made really worried for a moment before I checked the papers ^ ^' I don't mind at all that he's younger than I thought tough. It's actually even more fun for me that he's this young and tiny, I like watching them grow~ And hey, the terrarium I bought for him will still work. It will be like a huge mansion for him, but I bet he will love that. I will fill it with all sorts of fun stuff for him. Clutter it up so he won't feel exposed and vulnerable in there. I will get his terrarium delivered to me tomorrow. Typically I have it ready before the snakes comes home, but it's fine this time, he's in his quarantine tub right now anyway. I always quarantine new additions. The terrarium cost me a little under 200$ but then you of course need to add things like lighting, heating, hides, substrate, plants and all that other good stuff, so I think I've spent roughly 300$ on the terrarium so far, and I will probably spend a bit more since I want my baby to feel comfortable in there and have lots of enrichment. I've named my boy Dazai after Dazai Osamu from the anime Bungo Stray Dogs. He's 78% Superdwarf (Madu locality) and he's a tiger~ I'm completely smitten with him. He's so gorgeous, and I love how you can see how he's thinking. I also didn't realize just how colorful these guys really are until I saw Dazai up close yesterday when I moved him to his quarantine tub. Dazai also seem to be super chill for a baby snake. He was a little hesitant as I first grabbed him since I'm a new person to him, but no hissing, no S-ing up, just a tiny bit of stiffness at first. He tongue flicked and watched me for a moment, but as soon as he realized that I made no attempts to hurt him he began to relax and move around, and when he noticed that it was safe to do so with me he went into full explore mode, almost seeming disappointed as I put him away, so I have a very good feeling about him. Right now he's exploring his quarantine tub just a few feet away from me, climbing between the two perches I put in it. A while ago he was laying on top of his hide though, seeming to just be checking me out while I had dinner ^ ^
That’s great, I’m very happy for you that you get to enjoy keeping one of these! I would love to see pictures of your animal if you can email them to info@reachoutreptiles.com. Madu tigers are something that we are selectively breeding out here at the moment!
I love these older videos with preachy Garrett. Since this was when I first decided I would save up for a superdwarf, can I get grandfathered into those Kalatoa prices 😂
Hey Garrett! This video was awesome. You’re video seemed so well thought out. And I’ve been wrestling with this question myself. This video even hit me on a financial note. Keep on keeping on man!
I like, *over enjoyed* this and now have 500 ideas running around in my brain! Are you thinking of popping over to Hamburg PA on December 1st? We aren’t sure if we can make it; otherwise we’ll go with what you & I spoke of...also, vlog brought up a lot of deep memories I have of the home my grandfather built. He loved ALL animals 💛💯
I agree 100%. Super Dwarfs are much more cost-effective than Mainlands. I can't imagine trying to move 40 Mainland babies and possibly ending up keeping that many by default. I honestly don't know how Jay Brewer does it. He seems to be hatching new clutches every week. Could you do a video showing examples of the pure localities of Super Dwarfs you have?
Selling/buying babies is a very different thing than raising those babies to adulthood. If PPets sells all the babies they make, then blaming them for all the unwanted older Retics is kind of like blaming McDonald's for making us fat. Until we each learn to consider the impact of our actions, we won't see any real improvement in the quality of life for these animals.
I love your just while not just but business set of thinking I'm like that just not to the level you are your intellect shows. And I wanted to say your house is amazing and you might be surprised to hear but I think alot more people would love a home like yours more than a house like you showed us. have a great holiday weekend
Thanks Andrew! I do think more and more people are stepping back to consider what they really need and want in life, rather than just following the Joneses...
Great topic, clear explanation. Totally get it. I often wonder about Jay at Prehistoric Pets, and how he moves the hundreds and hundreds of retics he produces every year. I would much rather own a dwarf retic than a mainland. I would have a much greater chance of still owning it until the end of its life because of the manageable size vs people who have a mainland and opt out after it reaches 10 feet. Who will be rescuing or rehoming all of these once popular mainland animals.

our pure locality animals do have an extensive waiting list but i can add you to it if you want to receive updated on babies hatching. Email at info@reachoutreptiles.com
How big would a male dwarf/super dwarf grow & how big would the viv need to be? I’ve had ball pythons for a few years & want to take the step up at some point!
Garret.. Enjoyed this one and well timed as I just expanded my Retic numbers. I currently have an unrelated pair of 5.5 Yr old Male Kalatoa and 6 yrs Kayuadi Female. Kept separately,. Feed great. No issues.. Dispositions good. Had Male since he was. 0.5lbs..locked once over a year ago.. They were kept warmer then.. Now ambient at 70F...Ur video helped with understanding breeding ages. I recently got the attached Male who is an animal charity rescue and fast becoming a favourite.. WHICH MORPH IS HE PLEASE? Considering he has had minor health issue and treatment he is remarkably placid and tolerant.. And I notice he is not as racy and quick as my others. From the same source I also got a Female Lemonblast (?).. Who is a tiny 10 month who feeds and acts beautifully as well... I keep a variety of Royals to breed to cover my hobby costs.. A remaining female Common Boa (solely an emotional attachment as first animal I ever bred).. Aspidites.. And a highly prized adult Male White Lipped WC import via Germany... I do mix up the Retic diets with Rats Rabbits Quail and day old Chicks and feed the now 6+ibs adults a maximum twice monthly. I believe this animal to be dwarf and under 5 years... Any ideas on Genes? Thanks for the videos! Graeme Nr London UK
another great job and interesting and accurate view on the subject now if you would get Iowa to allow retics (oh they allow Burms explain that one?) that would be great
Some are less, others are more- but if you would like an idea of current pricing, let us know what you were looking for, and we will be happy to email you an updated list. Info@reachoutreptiles.com
Do you go to Hamburg ? I live in NEPA and would love to see some stuff in person one day man, not even close too expensive, the price always reflects on the work involved and I know there is lots of time and effort and planning , as I am only 1.5 years into starting and 2 years before that of planning and writing my ideas, BTW I suffered to watch with that chalk grinding on the board , I’ll have chills for days
Looking at that price list I'd have to say not at all. The first one listed is 250. Can't do much better than that. Curious how big will a dwarf x super dwarf potentially get.
This was precovid, so they have changed quite a bit. Some have gone down, others up. Not a really simple answer type question, but if you email us at info@reachoutreptiles.com with any specific details, we are happy to get you a full list of pricing options that match what you’re looking for in a Dwarf/ SD Retic.
What is the average size of a dwarf retic and how many eggs do they lay in a average clutch . I really like your videos . I started following you when I saw you at carpet fest at Brian's . Saw the video wasn't there .
@@ReachOutReptiles Sweet! That’s good to know. Thank you for responding, I love the collection and the info/content have made my decision to get one a breeze. 5⭐️’s
Really good content!! I definitely can’t handle the mainland retic which is why I want a super dwarf (or dwarf) so much!! Hey I also sent you a msg thru instant messenger about picking up my baby. Let me know what you think please.
I love you home an I respect the history. I build the cookie cutter homes just like in your area now I'm looking for one like the one you have for me an my family. Love the videos you also say the facts . People are a custom to have everything now no thought goes into who or how or where or what the the thing they wants been or come to be they just need it NOW delayed gratification is best
That's a really good video you just made you got me thinking about my ball pythons of course I haven't bred them but my mail I raised him up from a baby but the female I have she's a proven breeder that I've already got 1600 Grand and 5 foot I only paid $200 for her she's a pinstripe my mail is normal but all those numbers they all add up I always buy cheap my aquariums that I have the snakes in are all really cheap then I got it swap meets for little or no money cuz that's a good way to save money you should go into the pet store and just dropping assload of money on a new tank you don't need it it's called living the minimalistic lifestyle
.....when a snake farts and stops you in your tracks!!

Thanks for the videos!

another great job and interesting and accurate view on the subject now if you would get Iowa to allow retics (oh they allow Burms explain that one?) that would be great
I think the Iowans are going to have to handle that one. But feel free to use ideas from here!
Juicy fart! This is my new favorite installment from you. You have a great home thanks for sharing.
Haha, that was nasty... and thanks!
The music is a little loud
But great information!
what temperature to incubate my bearded dragon eggs in the incubator you showed us how to make
Hey I share the same name as your daughter! I enjoyed the in-depth look at cost over time and it was eye opening. Could you add me to your waitlist??
Sure thing! Email me at garrett@reachoutreptiles.com and we can go from there. ;)
Is the price list at the beginning comparable to 2022 prices?
Some are less, others are more- but if you would like an idea of current pricing, let us know what you were looking for, and we will be happy to email you an updated list. Info@reachoutreptiles.com
Lol garret I hope you threw those boxers away after that shart ! Lol
lolol.... I'm more of a briefs kinda guy...
Lol at first I thought kusko might have been doing a guest appearance lol
Do you go to Hamburg ? I live in NEPA and would love to see some stuff in person one day man, not even close too expensive, the price always reflects on the work involved and I know there is lots of time and effort and planning , as I am only 1.5 years into starting and 2 years before that of planning and writing my ideas, BTW I suffered to watch with that chalk grinding on the board , I’ll have chills for days
Good video. Your like the Alton Brown of reptiles.
Hahaha, thanks, I guess!
@@ReachOutReptiles it's a good thing. You can learn things from your videos. I love them.
Looking at that price list I'd have to say not at all. The first one listed is 250. Can't do much better than that. Curious how big will a dwarf x super dwarf potentially get.
Ur the man thats how to live i garden grow plants and i love my animals
One of these videos but with 2022 pricing???
Are prices similar to this video still or have things gone up?
This was precovid, so they have changed quite a bit. Some have gone down, others up. Not a really simple answer type question, but if you email us at info@reachoutreptiles.com with any specific details, we are happy to get you a full list of pricing options that match what you’re looking for in a Dwarf/ SD Retic.
good information
What is the average size of a dwarf retic and how many eggs do they lay in a average clutch . I really like your videos . I started following you when I saw you at carpet fest at Brian's . Saw the video wasn't there .
Hello, can i ask a question what kind of dwarf my snake is?
Do you have a website that I can look at as I am interested in a super dearth Retic, I live in the UK.
Hello, we are currently not exporting at this time.
How far off are prices now in ‘24?
Honestly- not far off. Except now you get a couple more generations of selective breeding and higher locality percentages at the same price.
Thanks!
I goal is to start small with ball pythons . But a sd I can see in the future . Would be cool to have a couple .
Average American with a big ass house? Ha not me.
Little Retics make good pets for folks in little houses. ;)

Garrett, how long's does a super dorf retic usually reaches, male and female...?
Loaded question, based on bloodline. Watch our video How big DOES a Superdwarf get?
Beautiful home!
Sent you a message Garrett, we're ready for our baby 😊😊
FINALLY 😂
Did you get one? :)
you have a very analytical mind- & shift from subtopic to subtopic with ease :)
I just paid a grand for a baby male Surinam boa... not surprised at your super dwarfs being in the same range.
Never heard anyone blame a fart on a snake.
I love this ❤
Great video. What would you say an 87.5% Kalatoa female sd 66% possible het purple albino would be worth?
csu111 I would say they don’t exist.
Reach Out Reptiles Then I guess I got ripped off. Twice. Argh. Thx, Samson...
Reach Out Reptiles can you be more specific? The 87.5% Kalatoa? Or the purple albino?
I wish I could give 6 thumbs up!
You would have a hard time holding onto a baseball bat with all those thumbs!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
