this a great design for a white water inflatable, with having cockpit / coaming to be able attach a spray skirt. I wish they had boat like this back when I was kayaking years ago. Can't do it anymore, certainly not white water.
Thank you for the info on the knee strap location. Excellent info. I think the new Gnarwal model has 12" tubes and the newer four point thighstraps. Not 100% though
Greg - You can fit a fare amount of gear in the tubes, but not nearly as much as a cargo fly in a standard model. It packs down pretty well, but you can definitely tell it is a heavier/bulkier boat. IMO the boat really isn't designed for long backpacking/overnight trips. Does that answer your question?
I'm wanting to get into packrafting. The self bailing model I assume you sit with water inside the kayak at all times with grommet type holes in the hull?
Do you know if they sell that seat and backrest separately? The MOST annoying feature on my 2014 Llama is the small Cylinder shaped back rest that I can never seem to get comfortable. That backrest looks plush and comfy. Any thoughts?
I wrote to Alpaka and asked for buying the new seat separately... Unfortunately they where not willing, selling me the seat separately :-( This fits to my experience, so far. Alpacka is not really customer focused. Stephan from Germany
They want to sell you a new boat not make you comfortable in the one you already bought from them. You are right, not customer focused. It's too bad. That kind of thing is what makes customers go to alternative companies for products.
Adam- I'm sure they will if you give them a call. That new seat is really sweet.
Excellent job on the review, thanks!
Good review, thanks for posting!

I want one just for the alpaca/ llama puns.

I replaced my 2013 lama seats with a new alpacka bottom and a feathercraft back.
