  • Another one of those days when we least expect to get anything worthwhile from our photography. Rain is never easy but rather than let the rain bother me too unduly, I let the rain inspire the situation to make at least one image to be worthy of being considered art.

Two questions, 1: How do you deal with Ticks and the risk for tick-born diseases now that we are fully heading into the season? 2: Would it be possible for you to upscale the videos to 4k before uploading them to RUclips? Compression is really heavy and I think 4k would help a lot from a bit-rate point of view, even if it was originally shot at 1080p. You could also show your lovely pictures in more detail.

    Rain? It almost never stops in Oregon. We are at nearly the same latitude as Scotland. The 45th parallel runs through Portland. It is was why I bought an Olympus camera. The OM 4 I had quit working in a down pour. The 4t still works! When you add the image stabilization, compact size, great lenses plus all the other advantages…I digress. Sorry, the rain offers opportunities that sunny days can’t.

    Well, this Friday feels like a Sunday so thanks for uploading. I’m really quite partial to looking at detail myself, so particularly enjoy these videos from you. That lovely little sycamore seedling: what a stunner! Not for the first time, with this example, I found myself wondering what one of your images might look like as a ‘fine art’ mono print, maybe (in this case) processed to be ‘high key’ (if that’s possible with the background you were given). Speaking of which, what happened to your portable background? (o;

    • @SimonBoothPhotography

      Thanks Barry. I don't have a portable background. I have a big diffuser sheet if that's what you mean, but that's to soften the light.
