Had the privilege of seeing this band in its many line ups.....i never saw a bad gig........and the crowds were always straight up rock n rollers 🎸🎸🎸.....great song from a truly great band. Imho Bad Reputation is arguably their best album......
Scotty is American. Phil & Brian are Irish. Snowy White, English I think. And you mentioned me. I so love you guys! ❤ Thank you so much! ❤ more music please 🙏 love ye're analysis of songs. Clearly into your music 😊
Phil Lynott must have changed his nationality to that of his Dublin born mother, Phil was born in West Bromwich, England. His father was British Guianan by birth.
You have the right meaning when it comes to this song. "Opium" was becoming a big problem in the band at this time. One of my favourite drumming songs. First guitar solo, Snowy White, second solo, Scott Gorham. Chinatown in London was also the heart of the entertainment industry in the UK, Thin Lizzy's offices were there, and also the red light district, so all excess was conveniently located. It's the same location, Soho, Warren Zevon was singing about in Werewolves of London.
Another great piece from Thin Lizzy , think this Album "Chinatown " is from 1980 , Sugar Blues is a triffic tune from this album ! more Thin Lizzy is always welcome , cheers !
An awesome band sadly missed. Talent, off the chart. China town right now, this track would set new standards for todays music. Brian Downey another brilliant drummer that is totally underrated and to not hear what they would be playing today is a tragedy. Merry Christmas Hanier Family and have a great new year too. Cheers.
Yes, this is a good LP, which I have. Thin Lizzy must have been really passionate about trying to stay clean off drugs. They put so much energy into this song. But wait, there's more. Wait until you listen to Genocide, (Killing of the Buffalo). On this album. This song is even harder and better. The Title is self-explanatory. Cheers!
Great band live. I saw them with Nazareth in the 79 or 80. Snowy White was best known at this time for playing guitar for Pink Floyd's touring band, and some other stuff as well.
Fantastic band and mucisians! One of my all time favorites. Another good song with absolutely mindblowing drumming is Bad reputation, so please check it out!
Guitarist Snowy White aka Terence Charles White has recorded around 23 solo albums. Check out Snowy White - At The Crossroads from his debut album White Flames from 1983. Great guitar work.
Proper palate cleanser from the other unspeakable nonsense chosen tonight …🤨 This is just top flight Thin Lizzy from their golden period , I’ve made it clear I’m not a fan of over effusive geetar solos etc but im happy to forgive that in their case as their edgy Rock credentials overcome that wee fault - excellent 👌 👍🏴
@ I was fast asleep there and in my dream someone chapped the door n it woke me up .. I actually got up n answered it like a right auld buffer ..🤣 once I was up .. heyho here I am now wide awake 🤦♂️ 👍🏴
@ a subconscious chap door run-away merchant .. 😂 I was addled when I got up and answered the door and felt like a proper douche when I realised it was still before 5am.. I just smiled n went for a much needed pish ! Hey maybe THATS it … my auld bladder has contacted my subconscious to ask to find a way to wake me up for a much needed pish .. 🤣, THAT actually makes sense tbh 👍🏴
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering It's not even the Weekend. I've had Rogue drunks hammering on mi door on occasion. They are usually too Plastered to realise its the Wrong door.
Here's an idea: "Where did they come from?" Take any successful band/solo artist, and find a song from before they were famous. EG , Deep Purple, so you would have Episode Six, The Artwoods, and Johnny Kidd and the pirates. Or Dio, Elf, Ronnie and the redcaps, and, The Vegas Kings.
OR …!! 😅 We could do .. NOTHING of the sort on the grounds the bands/artists you mentioned were quite heavily into sucking Donkey Balls in all their forms .. ? Sound like a plan Sir Col ?… 🤣 👍🏴

@colrhodes377 ....I'm not suprised as it's an absolute gem.....thanks Col for the heads up👍
A great track from an equally great band, R.I.P. Phil Lynott gone too soon at 36.
Classic rock song from one of the best bands of all time R.I.P phil lynott
Bought this as a senior in high school the year it came out. Heard the drumming on the track and had to have it.

This is my favorite band. Brian Downey is one of the main reasons. Excellent drummer, but the whole band is great. Phil is an excellent songwriter.

A great time period musically for Thin Lizzy...
Yes it was !
Thin Lizzy with Phil were always top notch. Rocking the night away ! 🎸
The great Snowy White

I've asked for this twice but heyho , top marks 🏴✌️
Snowy White had a wonderful solo hit around 1983 called "Bird of Paradise"... I highly recommend it.
ditto
This is a great one.

This is quite a Heavy one for them. Maybe check "Vagabond Of The Western World" or "The Rise And Fall Of The Funky Nomadic Tribes".
A suggestion for " Who did it better?" Whispering grass, between Erskine Hawkins, Ringo Starr , and Windor Davies and Don Estelle.
Sadly Phil Lynott was always fighting his addictions.
Legendary
Killer Without a Cause!
Thin Lizzy just rock. Opium was Phil's Achilles heel and it brought him down. What a waste of life and talent.
Yep , proper tragic !!
Tragic😢
Snow White's Thin Lizzy... Not the same band that I saw in 1978 at the Sydney Opera House..
