One thing I like about Simon is his humility. He often apologies where he gets things wrong. It shows he's also as human as all of us.

I really think maybe what Simon said,and how Jennifer dealt with it was a teaching moment for him?
For Simon to want to use this to work towards no longer being seriously blunt, think before he speaks, no when to hold silence, and watch tone of your voice. Judging singers does not mean you hace to speak harsh, there is a polite way to express not liking singing and just because that is how the world operates, does not make it right.

Simon was always hated for being 'straight up', yet he was always honest about how HE felt about the moment. You could also count on him to ADMIT his mistakes. That's rare.

I remember the night before elimination, we had a huge storm through Chicago and mid-Illinois. All the power went out and a lot of people could not watch American Idol, let alone vote. When Jennifer was voted off, I felt it was unfair, because her hometown and home state could not vote to support her. But here she is...killing it!!! YEAH!

I agree I watched the show where she was eliminated and to be fair she was not ready. Fantasia was. But for the rejection she may not have achieved the success she has. So hey Simon at the time was right in my view.

He said he felt emotional and felt terrible, but didn’t once apologize for the role that his comments played in her elimination from American Idol. Simon used to critique how Jennifer looked and spoke, instead of focusing on her gift of singing and performing. Glad she showed grace by inviting him on her show & making it clear just how wrong he was!
His comments definitely helped her because her earlier performances weren’t great. She clearly had a voice but her use of it
You’re being bias. It’s part of the job to mold them with criticism. At the end of the day the audience would’ve voted for her if they disagreed with Simon.

Yeah, Simon's comments were a factor; but, in the end, IMO, it was Jennifer's fault that she got voted off---and, the reason being because she back-talked Simon, and I noticed that the minute anybody sassed him, they were gone!! Nobody was gonna let anybody diss (in their mind) him!!

I think that Simon is pure in heart. His words generate you to do better, I think he uses reverse psychology that sometimes brings out the best in people. He is a man who apologizes when needed and that shows true characteristics. Love me some Simon always. He is so humorous with his comments and facial expressions. He does have an eye for talent. He looks like a person who does good and does not advertise himself.

I remember seeing Jennifer Hudson on American idol. Then she got eliminated then I saw her on secret life of bees with Dekota Fanning and Queen Latifa and Alicia Key and then she was dream girls. She grew so fast.

I never understood why Simon was the one people focused on so much during American Idol. He has said that he knows nothing about music, but has good instincts. Randy is the one who has the knowledge of music.
Simon is a music producer. He has the power and influence to make peoples careers. On a personal level, he was honest and yes blunt with his critique. Ironically, he's become very diplomatic over the last few years. But in an industry where people smile at you face to face then stab you in the back, he said what he really thought. You might not like his criticism, but you trusted it.

Simon has a good ear and has discovered many successful acts, particularly in the UK. He does play music, albeit casually. He plays piano.
He’s the one who basically makes careers out of the three judges. The other three were just former musicians.
And also he was the hardest to please so of course you’re gonna work your hardest to please the hardest ones to please.
Now I can say he is the most honest because those other judges be given people positive reinforcement and they can't even sing!
Because they waited for him to be brutal.
Jennifer is consistently one of the most brilliant talents of her generation, for sure!
I also think that she is probably one of 'the' most successful alumni of the entire Idol series or any music show for that matter....
but that is due to her determination and drive and clearly, her abundance of talent....

If I remember correctly, the night JHud was eliminated on Idol, Simon was actually very nice to her and said she was creating "the battle of the divas". He was starting to support her when she unfortunately left, but as she said, the only thing over was that competition. Her talent has kept on going and she's amazing.
She sang THE HELL out of "Weekend in New England". Jennifer, Fantasia and Latoya were LIGHT YEARS ahead the competition at that point vocally. Simon and the producers were trying to narrow out big singers such as those three sistas for the sake of variety of the singers left in the show for the fans. Jennifer wasn't his favorite because she started off iffy, Fantasia had personality, Latoya was solid from jump. When she got into her groove and showed she could sang just as good as Latoya and Fantasia, I believe the producers KNEW they had to get rid of one the top 3 singers (which were those 3) and Jennifer was their target...but her elimination was the best thing that happened to her....and Simon was extremely humbled to see it by showing up on HER show after all of her accomplishments.
