Luther doesn’t get a pass with me on the use of his words. Subtlety is not his greatest strength. However it is also the reason we’re not still living in a 16th century Europe either. My defense for him is purely in his intent. Unlike Hitler who wanted to exterminate Jewish people, Luther, always wanted them to repent and come to the Christian faith.

Let's take a closer look at Martin Luther. Following is a quote from convicted Nazi war criminal Julius Streicher, during the International Military Tribunal in Nurnberg, placing the blame on Martin Luther: “Anti-Semitic publications have existed in Germany for centuries. A book I had, written by Dr Martin Luther, was, for instance, confiscated. Dr Martin Luther would very probably sit in my place in the defendants’ dock today, if this book had been taken into consideration by the prosecution. In the book, “The Jews and Their Lies”, Dr Martin Luther writes that the Jews are a serpent’s brood and one should burn down their synagogues and destroy them…”

I appreciate your regret about Luther's _The Jews and Their Lies_ (7:36), but he went beyond advising closing synagogues and taking away books (4:56): "If [Moses] were living today he would be the first to put fire to the Jew schools and houses."
It's true that Nazi hatred was unique (3:07), but unfortunately, Christian hatred of Jews went much further than expressing disbelief that Jews hadn't accepted Jesus (3:20) and expelling them from countries (6:18). Jews were tortured during inquisitions after their forced conversion to Christianity was suspected of being insincere. Jews were massacred based on libels of ritual murder and poisoning wells; based on charges of deicide; and during the Crusades.

People like this pastor, have a nasty habit of conveniently "forgetting" things that does not fit the narrative. Not only did Luther recommend that synagogues and Jewish schools should be burned down, he also said that any rabbi teaching Judaism should be killed, that all Jewish homes should be destroyed and all the money should be taken from the Jews. He also conveniently forgot to mention that it was the German protestant Church that brought Hitler to power.

Question was how could the righteousness Luther be so antisemitic such that his recommendations were implemented by Hitler. The Pastor’s response was that he was just complying with the thought of the day. He bring up others had this same idea. He says Luther should have restrained himself. Real problem Luther had this attitude.
Luther wrote the Jews and their Lies after he created the saved only by faith and what one does is irrelevant. I watch Protestant videos and most say Catholics will go to hell based on saying people must follow God also. They then usually put Luther on a pedestal. After hearing, I decided to check on Luther and found the Lither work.

There are quite many, but here are a couple of examples. He claims that there were only two religions, Christianity and Judaism, in medieval western Europe, which is demonstrably wrong. He claimed that the fact that Jews were not allowed to live in most cities during medieval times and they were generally discriminated against, was not antisemitism, which is demonstrably wrong. Antisemitism is feeling or showing hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a cultural, racial, or ethnic group. Martin Luther wrote several publications on Jews and it is quite absurd that the person in this video is cherry picking. The guy is also very selective when he says that they should close Jewish schools etc., but he conveniently forget to mention that the recommendations also include that all privet homes of Jews should be destroyed, all their fortunes should be confiscated, he did not say that Jewish synagogues and schools should be closed but burned down and anyone teaching Judaism should be killed. He also forgot to mention that it was the Lutherans and Evangelical Churches that brought Hitler to power.

First I acknowledge that you accept that the pastor misrepresented Luther, when he claimed that Luther wanted to close synagogues and Jewish schools, when in reality he wanted to burn these down. The fact that the pastor also "forgot" to mention that Luther also wanted to kill Rabbis, destroy all property owned by Jews and steal their money, clearly shows that the pastor misrepresented and and ignored historical facts.
The pastor was not very precise, but in medieval times there were an array of different cultures in Western Europe. Please look up the academic definition of Western Europe and you will realise that there were many different religions and cultures present. If he was just sloppy and meant Germany at the time just before and during Luther, there were e.g. travelling gypsies.
As for the rise of Hitler, you are simplifying it to an absurd level. The treaty of Versailles was a contributing factor to the fact that Germany would go to war, but not necessarily with Hitler. If you look at the political landscape in Germany in the 1920's, there were quite many alternatives. One main reason for Hitler's rise was the great depression. A strong contributing factor for why the Protestant churches supported Hitler, was the rise of socialism/ communism, culminating in the Russian revolution. This lead to that the Freethinkers/ Atheists became a large part of society, threatening the standing of the church. As a thank for the support of the Protestant Churches in the 1933 election, Hitler outlawed Atheism as one of his first actions when he came to power in 1933. The buildings that were owned and operated by the Freethinkers were confiscated and given to the protestant Churches in Northern and Eastern Germany. The protestant Churches also used Luther to legitimize Hitler's extermination of the Jews. My point is that the pastor is trying to minimize Luther's role in Nazi Germany, which is evidently a misrepresentation.
