Think about why Anakin could not go with master Windu to arrest the chancellor. Anakin had grown attached to him. Ask yourself this. Could you arrest a loved one? What if it goes bad and they don't go quietly? What if a fight ensues (which in this case it did)? I believe that called a conflict of interest. My aunt was a police officer and her brother (my uncle) was being arrested. She had no idea that the precinct she worked for was preparing to arrest him. She was upset at first of course but as the years passed she understood why it was done that way.
Assassinating the supreme chancellor of the entire republic with no proof of his evil doings would've gone real bad for the jedi anyways. Anakins way of arresting him would've brought light that he was a sith and they could've dug deeper and found evidence that he was playing both sides of the war for the public and senate. And if he was brought along for his "arrest" then it's unlikely the other masters would've died.
Well, Anakin did succeed in this movie to singlehandedly win a galaxy spanning war and has brought peace. So he ended this war that was fought by the Jedi with slaves bred for war led by child soldiers.
But, I don't know about Anakin being the one who brought peace to the galactic Empire. Historians might attribute that to Palpatine. Even if he was the one who engineered both sides of the war, in the first place. 😡 *But,* I bet at least _one good_ change Vader made was to abolish slavery. 🙂 That is cool comfort, and arguably may not have been worth it for anyone, but there it is.
28:01 Actually, hold on about no longer being a Senator; There is a small but very important detail in Star Wars that almost everyone overlooks. Personally, I caught it right away, even though I was seven the first time I saw it. (By Star Wars, I mean "Star Wars" - Star Wars). In the meeting room scene, Tarkin walked in and told them they would not have to worry about objections from the Senate anymore, because the Emperor had just permanently dissolved the Senate, since they now had the Death Star. He said the final remains of the old Republic had been swept away. Maybe Senator Organa had still been a senator up to that time. Either way, Lia may have been a princess at first, but when the planet of which you are a princess of gets destroyed, Then your crown becomes just a topless hat made of a heavy metal. 😞
To be fair if superpowers were based on temperament then the most dangerous are the sensitive ones. Its like giving a kid a gun and he thinks its a toy. Which is why Jedi took the spartan approach. Temper Tantrums in the force literally changed the way of life for everyone
You and everyone else really need to watch “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in order to understand Anakin better and his reasons for distrusting the Jedi council. Anakin’s emotional growth was stunted after he had to leave his mother behind, and he wasn’t allowed to visit her. Neither Obi Wan or the Jedi provided Anakin an outlet for his feelings, they only told him to suppress them. Qui Gon was the only Jedi who could’ve given Anakin the emotional guidance and support that he needed, and with him gone Anakin’s fate (dark side) was sealed. That’s why the dual between Qui Gon and Darth Maul is titled the Dual of Fates (Anakin’s fate).
@Adrian S. I believe that you are right, the Jedi and Obi Wan had indeed failed Anakin and Ahsoka (Clone Wars). Ever since the last battle with the Sith (1,000 years ago) the Jedi had become too dogmatic, too arrogant, and too detached from others. The Jedi had also become too political by following the will of the senate, as a consequence they lost their connection to the force. Whereas the Sith had evolved, they had changed, and gotten stronger. What’s ironic is that in the distant past it was the Jedi who were more adaptable, flexible, pragmatic, and it was the Sith who were too dogmatic, and rigid. Both the Jedi and the Republic were already tottering even before Anakin arrived.
@Adrian S. Yeah at the same time tho they've been questioning why Anakin is even there, ever since Qui Gon picked up Anakin. They literally wanted nothing to do with him and were warning about the emotional immaturity. The blame doesn't fall to the whole Jedi Temple when Anakin was an exception because of Obi Wan and Qui Gon. That's pretty much the only reason he was allowed to stay aside from being the "Chosen One" which they didnt believe either without Qui Gons assertiveness in the matter
@@fatty1040 Except that the Jedi were so blinded by their own dogma that they couldn’t see their own flaws or how flawed their current code was. Ever since their last battle with the Sith (1,000 years ago) they had allowed themselves to become too dogmatic, too arrogant, too detached from others, and they too subservient to corrupt senators. They had chosen to follow the will of the senate instead of the will of the force like Qui Gon did, they became too entangled in the Republic’s politics. The Republic they were serving was already collapsing under it’s own weight, it was too corrupt to be salvaged. The Jedi had lost their way a long time ago, even without Anakin being there. Personally I think that Anakin’s role was to clear the board of the previous Jedi Order and the Republic so that a better Jedi Order (Luke’s Order in Star Wars Legends) and a New Republic could emerge in their place later on, after the fall of the Empire that is. The force knew that the Jedi Order was too ossified by dogma to change so the Order had to go. In the novelization of Revenge of the Sith Yoda realized that he was to blame for the downfall of the Jedi Order because he didn’t allow it to change, to evolve. Whereas the Sith had evolved, they had changed and gotten stronger. All the Jedi prepared for was how to fight the last battle with the Sith, using lightsabers. The Sith used the Republic and it’s institutions (politics) against the Jedi and they had succeeded. Of course Anakin was meant to destroy the Sith but the prophecy doesn’t specify when or where it would happen. Plus Qui Gon was right to trust in the force and to believe in the prophecy. I mean Anakin did destroy the Sith in episode 6 and save the universe just like Qui Gon believed he would. Knowing that it seems to me that the Jedi were wrong to doubt Anakin and the prophecy. Qui Gon was the last true Jedi until Luke comes along (Luke from Star Wars Legends, not the sequel trilogy). He was the only Jedi who could’ve given Anakin the emotional support and guidance that he needed. That’s why the duel between Qui Gon and Maul is called the ‘Duel of Fates’ it was Anakin’s fate that would be decided. If Qui Gon had lived Anakin’s fate would’ve been different.
@@jmwilliamsart My response to your whole first paragraph is, was it really bad tho? You're right the Jedi is not the same order but where's the wrong in asherering to the Senate? Politics itself is full of corruption but any order that wants to actually be official needs public support. Hell the only reason the "Sith" (2 people) won was because they had only 1 enemy the Jedi and the public was just another resource. Have you ever considered the force is naturally dangerous to anyone not a jedi or sith? Sorry but no matter what public support is essential over following the force. Where the Jedi messed up was believing they were more important in society than they really were, and should've been an hidden order but that's not because of the Jedis "Wrong doings" that's because the order since 1000 years ago decided that it should be apart of the public something no current Jedi had control over (AKA Plot) The universe and its civilizations continue without them. As far as we actually know The force is neither good nor bad which means it's fickle and dangerous. If you're telling me the force wanted a change and used madd death as a way of resetting it's own influence, that's pretty messed up. So im inclined to believe the force is background noise that guides force sensitive people, while Palpatine is sort of using it like a curse or bad luck against the Jedi. Yeah the sequel trilogy really muddies the waters, Its either you accept it or dont but either way cherry picking just leaves plot holes everywhere. I say this because Space Hitler Darth Vader getting redeemed by the force is really something the more you think about it 😂 its definitely a lot better than hermit Luke in the sequel sequels tho but redeemed anakin scenes "continuity" still leads to hermit luke so I really cant choose other than screw Disney.

@@jmwilliamsart Shame they made Luke a fool in the sequel trilogy. But Ahsoka is a pretty good jedi in canon, even if she doesn't want to classify as one.
Before people watch episode 3, I recommend that people should watch “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in order to understand Anakin better, and his reasons for distrusting the council. Anakin was an emotionally damaged person due to his upbringing as a slave, and all the physical abuse that he endured at Watts’s hands. He didn’t have a stable childhood, and he had to leave his mother behind which stunted his emotional growth. Neither Obi Wan nor the Jedi gave Anakin an outlet for his feelings, they just kept telling him to suppress them. Qui Gon was the only Jedi who understood him, and who could’ve given him compassion, and the emotional guidance that he needed. The Jedi only took him in out of respect for Qui Gon, they never fully accepted him, or trusted him. Anakin had a miserable time growing up at the temple, none of the other Jedi understood him since unlike him they grew up at the temple. At this point the Jedi had become too ossified by their dogma, too arrogant, and too out of touch with the people of the galaxy. They had also let themselves become too political and chose to follow the will of the senate instead of the living force. Whereas the Sith had evolved over the last 1,000 years, the Jedi on the other hand had only trained to fight the last battle. Qui Gon knew that the Jedi had lost their way, that they needed to adapt to the times. In the distant past it was the Jedi who were adaptable, and flexible, and the Sith who were too dogmatic, how ironic? The Jedi code never stayed the same, it changed over many millennia. In Star Wars Legends Luke’s new Jedi order Jedi are taught to regulate their emotions instead of suppressing them. In Luke’s order the teachings are more flexible, they admit Jedi of all ages, and they don’t take infants from their families anymore, it’s strictly voluntary. Also in Luke’s order Jedi are allowed to marry and have children. Luke realized that it is possible to balance one’s attachments with their duties, that attachments can make us stronger and more compassionate as long as they learn to regulate their emotions. Luke encourages Jedi to study all aspects of the force including the dark side (with supervision) in order to better understand it.

16:19 Yeah, Anakin is a hypocrite, but so is Windu. Windu's the one, who's been preaching about the Code, talking down to Anakin from a position of power, everysince they first met. And yet, here he is, ready to break the Code, in the exact same situation, in which Anakin was earlier, when he had Dooku at his mercy, echoing the exact same sentiment of "He's too dangerous to be left alive", to justify the execution of Palpatine, that Palpatine himself used to justify the execution of Dooku.
Anakin was not able to mentally focus very well. Palpatine was directly responsible for both of Anakin's nightmares. It is important for Palpatine to affect Anakin's thinking, but not to a point where Anakin isn't responsible for his own actions. The constant manipulation is similar to convincing someone to have another drink, and then another, and another. The person drinking cannot tell precisely how drunk they are becoming. This is similar to that, but instead of inebriation, it is frustration and rage to a point where it is too late to 'stop drinking'.

Thank you. Finally, some defense for the Jedi. All this recent anti-Jedi sentiment makes me frown.
Well, Anakin did succeed in this movie to singlehandedly win a galaxy spanning war and has brought peace.
So he ended this war that was fought by the Jedi with slaves bred for war led by child soldiers.
First, don't call people on their early twenties "Children", it makes you sound like a cantankerous old man. 👴
But, I don't know about Anakin being the one who brought peace to the galactic Empire.
Historians might attribute that to Palpatine.
Even if he was the one who engineered both sides of the war, in the first place. 😡
*But,* I bet at least _one good_ change Vader made was to abolish slavery. 🙂
That is cool comfort, and arguably may not have been worth it for anyone, but there it is.
Anakin/Vader doesn't think he's evil... That's what makes him a good villain.
Not a single evil villain thinks THEY are evil, that's what makes them crazy as well as evil!
No one is the villain in their own story.
Rogue One should be your next movie to watch,.. it ties nicely into Episode 4, A new Hope!
If you want to go in chronological order, I recommend the Obi-Wan Kenobi fan-edit movie, by Kai Patterson, then Rougue One.
Great reaction! ✊
Thank you!

28:01 Actually, hold on about no longer being a Senator;
There is a small but very important detail in Star Wars that almost everyone overlooks.
Either way, Lia may have been a princess at first, but when the planet of which you are a princess of gets destroyed,
Then your crown becomes just a topless hat made of a heavy metal. 😞
George Lucas himself said Star Wars is about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker and the eventual redemption at the hands of his son.
Yesss, the Jedi Council played a big role in Anakin's downfall. I wonder how things could've been if they handled things different. Loved your reaction!
Anakinw as not ready to be a master because he had anger issues.
Darth Sidious set Anakin up, he knew the Jedi woudnt make him a MAster, that whole thing was just to push Anakin to the dark side even further.
@@Prince_the_One but even before that. The jedi council could never have helped Anakin the way he needed. It's an order of monks who don't know how to deal with attachment because they've never known it. Only qui gon knew what it meant to take the boy from his mother and only he would have been able to help Anakin deal with his attachments in a meaningful way
@@jacobsampsonis7782 At this point the Jedi had lost their way, they had become far too dogmatic, arrogant, far too out of touch with the people of the galaxy. In the distant past the Jedi used to be more adaptable and more flexible, and the Sith were the ones who were too stuck in their traditions. But now it’s the Jedi who have become too stuck in their dogma, and in the past 1,000 years the Sith had evolved and grown stronger. Qui Gon knew that the Order had become too ossified, and that it needed to adapt to the times, he was the last true Jedi until Luke came along (Luke from Star Wars Legends).
@@jmwilliamsart Shame they made Luke a fool in the sequel trilogy. But Ahsoka is a pretty good jedi in canon, even if she doesn't want to classify as one.
ROTS is the best Star Wars movie ever made! They need to make more like this one
R2: Saving everyone's ass since '77 ;)
This right here is the best movie of the franchise don’t care what anyone else said this was the perfect setup for what is the OG trilogy.
28:25
Don't feel ashamed. We all thought that when we saw it for the first time in 2005
Gotta watch Rogue One now. Fills in the blanks between the two. Great reactions
11:30
You already saw the clones' faces in the beginning?
Kenobi series should be watched next. It's set 10 years after ROTS.
15:00
Mace doesn't know if this information is correct, yet
He has to go see for himself
For all Mace knows, Anakin could be helping Palpatine lure the Jedi into a trap
Enjoying your star wars journey with you, so much content for u to choose, but u should watch rogue one next, then solo, then Kenobi then the clone wars animated movie & series❤
Bail is still a senator in the Empire. The very first scene aboard the Death Star in the original Star Wars has Grand Moff Tarkin announcing that the Emperor has just dissolved the Imperial Senate. Leia also announces that she's a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission when Vader captures the Tantive IV at the beginning.
11:08
You knew what wookiees were like ten minutes ago, but you already forgot?
Eh, leave her alone about forgetting stuff like that. English is not her first language.
Hands down the best Star wars movie ever.
Always will be Empire Strikes Back
@@orangewarm1 Sorry the movie is a little to slow for me, Return of the sith it is always the better of those two.
27:35
I mean, really, when you think about it, was Palpatine really lying?
You said it yourself at 26:47
I enjoyed your reaction it made me skiing your channel. Best of luck with it.
Thank you so much!!
The spinoff movies and shows explain a lot
24:35
Yoda's just repelling the lightning, he's not using it himself
You saw the same thing in the last movie with Dooku and Yoda, but the Emperor's lightning is a lot stronger than Dooku's
When are you doing Rogue One?? ❤ I watched all 6 of your Star Wars reactions over last night and this afternoon, and now I'm dying to see you react to IMHO the best of the Disney era!
R2 is the real hero here!!! 😅
Shhhh!
28:34
Hey Caroline, you should definitely do a reaction to "Rogue One".
It's set between episodes III and IV
Soon!! :)
Darth Vader's story is so tragic
17:57
Obi-Wan was dead. The blue glow around him represents that he is a ghost.
24:08 - tatatatatata! :)
😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Caroline❤! I Love you!!!
Before you start watching the sequel trilogy (Episodes VII to IX) please consider watching:
- Obi-Wan Kenobi (Series in 6 Episodes)
This ties the prequel and original trilogies together.
In my opinion Carol,, Anakin tried and tried a lot to do the things right... but he always has been excluded... they´re afraid of him but they pulled a lot to the edge...
They were right to be afraid, but I don't think they really excluded him, if you're talking about making him an official Jedi Master. He still need to grow up emotionally.
@@Bastiondar The problem was that they never gave him an outlet for his feelings, they only told him to suppress them. Anakin’s emotional growth was stunted when he was forced to leave his mother, and that they never allowed him to go and see her. The Jedi by this point in time had become too dogmatic, arrogant, too deeply attached to the Republic and it’s politics, and far too out of touch of the people of the galaxy.
@@Bastiondar Considering the order has essentially brainwashed kids from the age of like 1 to not have any emotions, I'd say Anakins turned out as expected emotionally from a group of sociopaths lmao. He grew up with emotions, unlike them, while continuously forbidding it and giving no outlet for him. So how does he "grow up"? He tried doing the right thing countless times. This is someone who has stunted growth because of his surroundings.
@@jmwilliamsart He expressed his feelings with Obi Wan all the time. The problem is that Anakin wanted to do whatever he wanted, then got upset when it didn't go his way or he was disciplined. Do we treat real life poeple no different? Obi Wan loved him, took care of him amd raised him like a brother/son. We see their interaction in episodes 2 and 3. I mean come on..you think he neglected Anakin? Neglected him to the point where he'd kill younglings? Anakin was a bad seed, one the Jedi were trying to show a righteous path.
The Clone wars is a must watch series
19:58
Anakin didn't kill them, Vader did
19:21 the answer is "Die".
You have lots of options what to watch next. If you are open to Disney+ limited series Star Wars content, I would suggest Obi Wan Kenobi (6 short episodes). It is set during the 19 year gap between (Episode 3) Revenge of the Sith and (Episode 4) A New Hope. It follows Obi Wan's character development after the events of this movie and includes other characters you already know from the Prequels.
That show was terrible…completely shat on Obi-Wan’s character. Darth Vader’s, as well. It played like a fan-fiction written by some weirdo in his mom’s basement.
I guess she did not hear Mase windu. Tell anakin, stay here I sense much confusion in you.
Now you must see the 2008 Clane Wars Animated Special it Is 1.5hour movie there is a very important female jedi you must meet
Definitely Rogue One. I brilliant idea for a movie that fits snuggly between Ep 3 and 4. As for the sequels. Umm. Well, it's your choice.
The Obi Wan Disney+ series is probably the way to go right after this.
Obi wan Kenobi series, the mandalorian, the book of bobba Fett, rouge one, andor, the clone war series, star wars rebels, star wars the bad batch and skip episode 7, 8 and 9, also watch obi wan Kenobi series first then watch rouge one.
Remember all the scene with Mace, Palpatine and Anakin, cause that is vital to the climatic scene of Episode 9.
episode 9? The episodes ended at 6
Obi-Wan didn't finish Anakin because after his betrayal and murder, he wasn't motivated to end his suffering.. Now, if he knew Palpatine would save him...
That's not it at all. It's not that he was content to let him burn to death. He was only acting defensively throughout the whole fight and he couldn't bring himself to kill his "brother"
He didn't finish him because he saw the emperors ship.
@@williamcartwright373 It would have taken him 2 seconds to finish Anakin. He didn't kill him because he just couldn't bring himself to kill someone he practically raised, like Jacob said above. Anakin was his best friend/brother.
@@Bastiondar you clearly haven't read anything. He left because he saw plaps ship overhead.
Overall yes anakin/Vader is better with a lightsaber, however obi wan uses a very defensive technique and is the best ever at it.
Where is Padme? Is she safe? Is she.. alright?
I thought it was Agatha all along . . .
Tienes que ver Rogue one y la serie Kenobi
I believe that you confused WOOKIES with EWOKS. Ewoks are the cute furry creatures from “Return of the Jedi”. Chewbacca’s species is Wookie, and they are who Yoda referenced earlier in the film.

Anakin wasn’t wrong?! He betrayed and murdered his fellow Jedi, including younglings! Children, Carol! He’s not just wrong, he’s insane.

Of course Anakin was mostly wrong just by his actions alone. Sorry. Zero justification in murdering the women and children in that camp. Also the youngling genocide.
Anakin needed to learn patience and just plain listening and not demand everything he wants and going behind the backs of people numerous times. Did the Jedi not do everything right? Of course. But this is like 90% Anakin's fault and 10% everyone else's fault.
I've never had any sympathy for Anakin because it is shown again and again everything he does is on impulse and immediate gratification. He's a blowhard.
Love Darth Vader and the mystique of him when I was a child watching the originals. I despise Anakin at the same time.
Yep. What I always think about is that the Jedi have been doing things this way for thousands of years, because they learned the hard way what happens when someone extremely strong in the force is given a high position, when said person doesn't have much wisdom and/or understanding. He was impatient, and was quick to anger. He probably needed another good 5 years of training to get over that hump, it not longer.
@@Bastiondar That’s inaccurate, in the distant past the Jedi used to be more adaptable, flexible, and have attachments, and even had families of their own.
