I came across this peculiar stock in 2018- IEX or Indian Energy Exchange- a monopoly stock with over 90% market share & 80% operating profit. It had no competition. Almost unbelievable.
But I ultimately decided to steer clear of this stock. Why?

You've brought this out better than the 'sector experts'. 👍
Thank you for your kind words :)
So called sector expert
Very nice analysis. You are leaving the discretion to the investors with all the pros and cons. This is the correct way of advise instead of recommending a stock with bias.👍

Very important to articulate and separate the Facts and your Reason (Risk appetite) for not preferring to enter this stock , without which most people would go on to exit it anticipating doom.

Superb analysis.
Thank you so much :)
What If there comes an exchange charging zero transaction fees just like zerodha charging no brokerage won't participants move to that new exchange offering advance technology as well.
1)What makes IEX the monopoly to have 80% share in the market?
2)won't participants be doing like having screens for both exchanges and executing the Transaction with exchange offering lower prices?
There's one more company in the list i.e. HPX Hindustan Power Exchange. Which is backed by PTC India , ICICI and BSE.
Excellent
nicely explained
Thank you so much for your comment :)
The same reason sold all holdings last year
Good to hear the analysis. But when 20% suddenly falls, it is a matter of serious concern.
It is indeed !
Good insights
Thank you so much :)
On a lighter vein, if it ever were to list, we should invest in the Market Coupling Authority 😉
Amazing explanation on stock
Amazing analysis
I listen to your podcast and videos as a daily dose
Investing in stock markets from last 10 years none of the influencer has done work Like you
Also one request can you make a video analysis of BHANSALI ENGINEERING POLYMERS LIMITED
STOCK GAVE DIVIDEND OF 10% recently and jumped 1000% in past 9 years
The Market coupling authority may make it harder for IEX. However, the market will get a benefit from these regulations. However, IEX can generate huge profits and growth through diversification as well as the rules of the government to bring all the contracts on the exchange. The IEX can take advantage of the market coupling regulator, as the DISCOMS will be unwilling to go to a new platform and continue with an established player like the IEX if it is able to provide them with excellent services.
Nice explanation 👍
Thank you so much. Glad you liked it:)
Great video
Thank you 😊
Nice analysis 👍..good
Thank you so much:)
A major chunk of power purchase agreements come from private and corporate companies in India, discom's will go for PPA's only for managing domestic consumers demands. Latest reports say Industry power demand in India is at 41% while domestic demand stands at 26% followed by agriculture sector at 18%. Majority of the Industries have long term agreements as they cannot shutdown power like discom's for domestic consumers as their productivity and reputation is at stake. I think you have to cover this in the video
Please do a video on Policy Bazar
Would love it if you can make a video on how to select stocks which are already listed in stock market

Please make video on tata elxi and kpit technology
Will do. Also if you haven't checked it out already you can find the video on Tata Technologies IPO on the channel !
@finshotstv Good presentation of content but you missed on fundamentals.
1. PPA's will eventually end in next 10-15 years. No one likes to get dictated, here GENCO's are dictators. Even govt is in favor of ending PPA's
2. Market coupling is very much essential for the future if the complete power is needed to be traded on exchanges.
3. As of now IEX only play's in 7% power distribution business and holds a monopoly of 90% market share.
FYI: The are many stock brokers and yet zerodha is the leader. In the similar way, if power trading gradually shifts from PPA's to exchange IEX can make more revenues. Yeah competitors shall grow as well but IEX has the competitive advantage.
Hi :) Thank you you much for the comments. I agree with you that the government is slowly laying the foundation for moving all electricity transactions to exchanges. Market coupling is the first step. But I cover all of this in the video after the 13th minute. I talk about the potential for IEX to dominate the market even after market couplin. New products. And the long term plan for governments to move to exchanges and the increased volume.
The only thing I noted was that I am a conservative investor and I don't usually like investing in high regulated industries. But I agree with you. IEX could still dominate in the future.
Kindly cover about Telangana becoming number 1 State in terms of per capita income in 2023 in india, from number 10 in 2014.
This would be an interesting topic for sure.
I invested 50k in IEX During coal crisis 1 yr back the stock was giving profit of 12k within 2 days but I didnt sell as this was monopoly stock so thought long term investment can be made now its down 50% should I hold or sell ??

IEX revenue from gas and coal are trivial.

If you’ve already known something is wrong about company, have you posted analysis video before ?
Because I know It’s very common habit of Finfluencers to make analysis video of company that is already falling down and claiming they’ve seen that coming already.
Thank you for your comment. I think I need to clarify here a bit. I didn't know this was going to happen. Nor do I think I have the ability to pick winners while avoiding losers. This channels only focus is to help people better understand finance. What I meant in the video was that I don't like investing in areas that are heavily regulated. That's about it. On the flipside we are currently in the process of making a video where I talk about my biggest investing mistake 😅
So hopefully that point is clarified
@@finshotstv Thank for reply and for making it clear, but your thumbnail that is misleading and it shows you already knew something about this monopoly stock !! Great analysis anyways 👍
IEX has already collapsed… expecting such details analysis before stock collapse to save money of small retail investors
Woah
