History correction: the pass was built in 1953 by Cominco to facilitate the power line construction that fed the Sullivan Mine from the South Slocan generation station. It really had nothing to do with Riondel or the Blue Bell mine, which it had its own lake crossing power line. The newer logging road was connected over the top of Baker Cr x Grey CR in 1989
Yes I live in Kimberley all my life and we had a cabin in gray creek. Been over that pass many times. Also worked for Cominco power on that road@@littlemancaveontheprairie4753
Thanks for the comment. West Kootenay Power & Light built a transmission line from the South Slocan plant, across Kootenay Lake to Sullivan Mine in 1951, which then they were able to run a line to Riondel. Before that, there was no electricity on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, Blue Bell mine relied on generators.
@@wildeaston West Koot Power was a subsidiary of Cominco, actually CM&S at the time. That Poweline was a 161Kv Line There was a second 60kv power line across the lake for a time and also a 60 kv power line from Creston (goat River Plant) to Crawford Bay in and around that time also
Nice video! Did you take the powerline trail.or the regular road? I live in Kimberley and went over last year, was really surprised as to how well maintained it was. Heading over again on Monday to Kaslo.

Does the tracker have locker? I have a '95 with a low range off road mini spool for the rear. Thing is almost unstoppable
