When covid hit and my wife and I both lost our job and were on unemployment we made tuna noodle and cheese casserole twice a week because we calculated that was the most protein, dairy, carbs, and calories for the money. my kids got sick of it but by the grace of God we made it through.
No reason a couple both earning Social Security can't buy food. I'm a single person living on Social Security only and I have no problems buying food and putting money into savings every month

My Social Security is my only income I receive $1,272 a month I put $250 into savings pay all my bills including house and car insurance monthly real estate taxes get paid once a year . I'm a careful shopper shopping this way has got me a good supply of food stocked up. I live in Central Illinois and that's why I said a two-income household should be able to provide food and needs so I guess it depends on where you live and your lifestyle.

I see a lot elderly playing lottery and going to casinos.
For elderly stop paying those High rents. Find something a little cheaper and fix it up.
