FFXVI『Ifrit Vs Phoenix』 Epic BGM
Ifrit (イフリート, Ifurīto), also called Jinn and Iflyte, is a recurring Fire-elemental summon in the Final Fantasy series. His signature attack is Hellfire, sometimes called Inferno or Flames of Hell, that deals Fire-elemental damage to all opponents. He is one of the most frequently appearing summons and is often a rival to the ice summon, Shiva.
Like most recurring summons, Ifrit's appearance is different in each game, but remains somewhat similar. He has become increasingly beast-like and less demonic-looking as the series evolved; the shift started in Final Fantasy VIII. In general, Ifrit has brown skin, has long horns and claws, and is covered by a simple kilt-like covering around his waist.

honestly this game demoed better than any game has in the past 15yrs (outside of monster hunter world) and christ people are still talking about just the demo and the games not even out yet. this game got GOTY on just the damn demo alone. the game itself is just gonna solidify that. games already a 10/10 and all we got was a sample..... let that sink in
When I saw that "Damnation in..." I had already completed it with "...Hellfire" in my head. Ifrit locking hands like that is too iconic for it to have been any other move.

It's a common trope for the protagonist to rise above their own self doubts in moments of conflict, but the way they play this out with Joshua is perfect. In just the span of the prologue he goes from a sympathetic victim of circumstance into a younger sibling you're proud of and cheering on.
Wholeheartedly agreed. I went from hating his feebleness to actually being proud of the lil guy. Jus a shame how quickly his flame grew and then faded out...I would have loved to see more of him in the story honestly. Maybe even saw him as main character and his growth into a warrior instead of ...Clive 😒

Funny thing is that you have to pay $70 to hear it in-game and even then you still can’t get the orchestral version. Meanwhile Octopath Traveler 2 just came out a few months ago, way smaller game, and yet it’s got a fully orchestrated soundtrack.

I love the sound here. It sounds desperate, like “only a short time remains until catastrophe.” I was nearly in tears during this fight. I knew how it was going to end, but I still wanted to hope for Joshua’s victory.

Nothing goes harder than the soundtracks from these games; Yoko Shimomura and Masayoshi Soken are GOD composers.
People can say whatever they want about the gameplay, but the music is defiantly one of the best in the series.
Gameplay wise is the best also. FF XVI is GOATED not like the others trash turn based crap or open world boring checklists.

Is anyone else like... unreasonably proud of Soken and Yoshi-P, even though they've never personally met them? Having played XIV since 2.0, I feel like I've kind of grown with them, and this game looks to be the culmination of everything they've learned from running 14.
It feels like his game cemented a changing of the guard, and one for the better.
I'm glad/hopeful the Nomura era is over now, 16 is such a huge step up.

Joshua might’ve thought himself unworthy, powerless, to seldom over his kingdom yet it wasn’t the fact that he was phoenix but the fact that through the entire battle he was scared, afraid even to fight the thing that climbed towards him.. yet thought about his peoples safety, all while being so young, stoping from running and actually attacking Ifrit, the monster crawling towards him, 2:54 that was so f*cking epic!!!

Last time i was this excited for a FF game was FFX i remember skipping a school day just to play it because i was so hooked and it's been a while since a FF game had me this invested in it.
It is sad when you look at the other side that Joshua lost his father in front of his eyes and face this terrifying monster (ifrit) alone while he was still a young boy (I think he is 10 years old)

Final Fantasy never caught my attention, except for final fantasy 16 and to be honest. I'm still playing through it, one of the best experiences so far.

Although I don't think it's the last time we see Joshua, we can't deny that the end of the demo was devastating, Clive killed his brother with his own hands (or those of ifrit), most of the characters we met in the demo they died including his father, his own mother is indifferent to what happened and could have betrayed them, and now clive will be used simply as a soldier.

I just completed that part of the game yesterday (holy smokes what an epic sequence of events!!!!) And the part that stood out to me the most was indeed when this song came on again. I was all "LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"!!
Fun Fact: If you mash Square and Triangle at the same time, you'll fire MUCH faster than just tapping/holding one button down. I had Ifrit almost dead before we even got to the Hellfire countdown. It wasnt even close

So I assume tapping those two buttons at the same time actually triggers Phoenix's "Awakening" state much earlier?
Because that's the point where Phoenix projectiles begin to intensify right before the moment of Ifrit casting its Hellfire.
I finished the game and this is still the one Theme that goes the hardest for me. I get so hyped.

I love this so much I wish the full soundtrack was on Spotify I assume it will be later on but the game just came out recently so it makes sense
Yeah. For now I think these are ripped out the games files (or probs just recorded in game with all the audio except music muted, now that I think of it). You can tell the levels dip in spots where the dialogue lines come in. So the music files are all balanced for that. When there's an official release it won't be like that.

Nomura says hi, he's still behind the best games in the franchise and is working on Rebirth which will undoubtedly be a masterpiece.
Not gonna lie when Clive killed Joshua, i was sitting there screaming. I knew Joshua died at the beginning, but i didn't know how.
This fight right here represents everything wrong with this game.
The fight was needless...those were traitors he was killing. Clive thinks this low of Eikons. He thinks their protecting god would simply burn them without cause, even though an assassination force is proof of betrayal from the inside. And don't come to me with emotions, he did not know his father was dead by this point. As far as he knew, he turned to protect his father from doom.
The Empire taking over Joshua's kingdom, essentially reuniting all monarchic structures in one target to be taken down by the Republic, evidences an attempt at an agenda.
A monarchy is outdated, I recognize that, but without a homeland, the message becomes merely "burn everything to the ground". Rosalia fell. It became a faceless enemy we need to destroy along with the rest of the Empire. No change to improve its political system was promoted. Only its destruction. Its destruction and its people. Joshua and Clive don't even rebuild their homeland.
It's disgraceful. But I would be unfair if I said that it wasn't smart, the way it was presented. But they won't have me fooled. At the very least, I'll seek fanfiction to actually enjoy this story without being fed this agenda.

The moment I heard this song, I knew this game was going to blow all previous FF games away.
Having played the game now, the criticisms about this game is very valid. It's simplified RPG mechanics in favor of this CoD-like experience of on-rails. I still like this game and will definitely buy the PC Version for better performance/graphics but Skill Up and Synthetic Man (and other like-minded people) are right. And it's worth reminding. If people want that bombastic experience, this game has it. If they want a robust RPG gameplay experience with party systems, craftables, and in-depth mechanics, they're not getting it with FF16 and should look elsewhere.

I like to think that Joshua was never actually ill. But rather that his body was simply acclimating to Phoenix's power, and that had he survived the battle with Ifrit and been able to return to normal, that he would no longer have been so frail or sickly, and his body would be much more sturdy and healthy. As if Phoenix's power allowed Joshua to shed his old frail body, and gain a far healthier and tougher one.

This game wasn’t on my radar and I wasn’t really considering buying it even though Im in a game drought. Then I just *started* the demo and was like “oh fuck dude”. I had it preordered after that.
Same I played the demo when it first came out was sold on it because I wanted more of this story and boy am I glad I picked this up I do not regret buying FF16 well worth the $70 still haven't beaten the game but overall the story is fantastic 😊

I honestly think 2023 is the best year in gaming, ever. TOTK, FFXVI, Hogwarts legacy, Starfield, Diablo 4, Spiderman 2 and more. Not only that but we get ff7rebirth shortly after this year too! lol XVI definitely deserves to sweep the game awards of all of its awards, honestly based off the demo alone.
