- In this bonus episode that I have been meaning to release for a while, my buddy Mike from A Cabin and Fifty Acres comes over to help me install a Mr. Heater Vent-Free 20,000 BTU Blue Flame propane heater at my original tiny house office in Dayton. For the record, I know next to nothing about propane, but thankfully Mike does and he was willing to help me out. If you’re interested in this particular stove, here’s an affiliate link to the propane stove: amzn.to/3pWe2mT.
Most of my subscribers know me already from Mike’s show, but if you haven’t seen it yet check out A Cabin and Fifty Acres (www.youtube.co.... Mike is building a really amazing cabin that you should definitely check out!
The next project we'll be working on is putting some solar power out here, so stay tuned for that!
I really like that heater, it puts out a lot of heat! That installer has no idea what he's doing!
I would not trust that guy ! LOl Love it brother. Nice to see you out side of your place.
Yeah it does, it’s worked great! And lol I trust him pretty well he usually does a good job ;)
I realize that this video is a year old. But I am a 61 yrs old getting ready to do this myself. I laughed so much thank you. Great job.
Ha, never too late for a nice comment, glad we could help and hope it went well!
Glad you finally read the instructions on lighting it! I gather eventually you disconnected the pressure tester & capped it. I noticed you tried to read the WC with the valve on.
Please, next time, CHECK FOR LEAKS BEFORE lighting it...
I'm 70 and it took me about an hour to hook this same unit up, but you guys are much more entertaining than I was!
Have one just like it in a mobile home on my vacation property, it came with it with a 120 pound propane tank the owner purchased as well. I just fired it up today. I have to clean mine. Keep 'r clean! The thing I love about it is you set at 1 and it will keep it there, it'll only fire up to maintain that level. LOVE that!
How many hours does a 120 pound tank last? Thanks.
@@chapingt9572 I wasn't there full time but about three weeks.
On figure 14 it shows a different Hook which is the the right Hook up
You’re doing great and we’ve always known Mike is a great guy but it awesome seeing him help a buddy. I’m concerned about insulation, I’ve spent some time in Dayton and it gets cold in the winter.
You’re right to be concerned, although honestly I’ve been out there in 20 degrees and takes a bit to heat up but it’s ok after a bit. Much below that though and I’m not sure I’ll be out there lol.
Did you take little plastic cap off fitten on heater
What did you actually do to get it lit.
Just wanted to say thank you! "Wait 30 seconds before igniting pilot", lol, 30 sec can be a long time!
Love heaters like those be sure to have a little fresh air since it's not vented
yeah the place is drafty enough I think that it helps with that, lol. I probably should have mentioned that I have a propane detector in there too.
How many hours does a 20 pound tank last? Thanks.
Looks like you are having so much fun with your projects.
I really am! I'm down here right now and trying to figure out what my next one will be...
What size of pipe did you use 1/2 or 3/8
Bleed the line..buddy
Nice brother. For no insulation in the winter. I would say 4 days is not bad. We can buy a full tank for 9.99 at a place in town. I found out them prefilled tanks. They are not full. They fill them lower than full so they can say there SAFE. A friend who works for one of the bigger guys who sells them tanks told me how much of a rip off it was. God Bless brother.
Yeah I think they’re not supposed to do more than 80% or something full right? I’ve gotten a bit more into propane since this because it’s at one of my properties and it’s been annoying so far dealing with a leak the tank had... company definitely ripped me on on replacement of it. But this thing thankfully is a much simpler system lol.
@@GemCityDudeistPriest I think that's what he was saying full is 80% but they fill them to 60% to say there safe..
@@yankey4 ah gotcha
1st on the heater you should or could have just used a 90degree elbow then use the feet for a floor setup. The fitting just before your inside ball valve shut off you should have a 0-3psi gauge installed. At the tank you needed an adjustable regulator not 2 fixed regulators that you have no idea what the thing was really set at the facory.
No bubbles, No troubles.....
so i got a silly question do you happen to know what size screw or bolt holds the glass bracket in place cause i cant find any documentation for this? my 20k btu mr heater natural gass didnt come with the glass or the bracket and the replacement glass and bracket didnt come with any screws or bolts to mount it in place.
Unfortunately I don't, I'm sorry! I actually went through a divorce and the shack is at the old place, lol.
@@GemCityDudeistPriest im sorry to hear that man. thats pretty rough i hope things are going ok for you currently. thanks anyways
I can't get mine to ignite
Hey Dayton! Kettering here!
Nice! Just down the road! Go through there all the time. Thanks for checking it out!
Old video but you used the wrong tape. For gas its yellow
mike is so fucking handsome
Haha what am I chopped liver? Lol he’s a good looking guy though you’re right I can’t deny it.
Mike sent me
Thanks for checking it out!
After finishing the windows on the tiny house you said you were going to use it for some deer hunting by leaving the windows open because you saw a bunch of deer around the property? I hope you're not going to be shooting deer in your yard? 🤥
I am not, no! I have a second tiny house in Dayton that we were working on in this one. The other one though I did hunt from.
Mr heaters pop and cracks so much when they shut off we can’t sleep, costumer service agreed they pop and crack but will not do anything about it, I DON’T recommend them.
