- The University of Oregon Chamber Choir performs a unique setting of four traditional spirituals, featuring an improvised solo from Alexa McCuen. Paul John Rudoi, who accompanies the singers on tambourine, arranged the music.
The title track "Yonder Come Day" comes from the unique culture of the Georgia Sea Islands (off the coast of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida), which was a waypoint for slave ships carrying slaves from Africa to America. It is our hope that this performance honors the memory of all those who suffered under the horrors of the slave trade, and against unimaginable odds managed to transform their anguish into the inspirational music that still speaks to us today.

the soloist literally killed it omg
With this level of talent, who needs a (visible) conductor? Am I imagining it, or did that female soloist deliberately and audibly 'walk' the off-beat as she moved to her stage position? If yes, very cleverly done.
my choir is doing this song in less than a week and this has helped me so much
im doing it in 3 days rip
Sameeee
We're singing this song for our concert in January and there's a ⅓ odd that I'll get the solo as of now. Kind of nervous but pretty excited! Our whole choir loves this song and we've loved it since we've first heard it. This is the choir we strive to sound like!
My high school sang this last year when I was a senior. I always come back to listen to music from past years when I was in band and choir
i’ve watched this video so many times over the years and every time that soloist gives me chills
I cannot stop listening to this! I love it so much!
the men’s choir at my school did this and I’ve been looking everywhere for it and I finally found it
My middle school did this in 8th grade. I love it so much
I'm performing this song next week for a school concert.
Fabulous! Very moving!
Thoroughly enjoyed this!

Talk about taking appropriating culture!! This is a classic example!
and they managed to take the SOUL right out of it!!"😬
This! Thank you…
This piece is too easy for a college choir. Especially for a big school like Oregon. You should be doing more challenging pieces. Like the chamber choir I’m in at my high school is singing much harder pieces. I mean y’all sound good, but i expect more from colleges.
Technically it is a hard piece, but it's also a fun. I learned it and my choir still messed up at times
What sour juice were you on when you typed that comment, what has "too easy" got to do with anything? Some of the simplest songs are also the most successful for a myriad of reasons.
im in a chorus/choir. why dont you try learning this then? its not easy ya know. even for adults.
Keaton Silver okay but who asked
A capella songs with close harmonies were some of the hardest songs to sing when in choir. You haven't been in a choir very long if you think this is easy.
