Hi everyone! Thanks for exploring more of the Nature Coast with us. If you saw our recent Q&A video you will know this area of the state is Skylar's favorite for a Florida day trip. What places in the Nature Coast would you be most excited to visit? Let us know in the comments! Or if you have places to add to our list, leave those in the comments as well :) If you want to see more of each of the places featured in this video, be sure to check out our Nature Coast Playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLOT_jgQ5dAKwdm2hWC4OfvLxTDsJMPADv
The manatee tour was a one of a kind experience for sure, and Anclote Key was as beautiful as it looked on camera (if not more). We just wish we had more time there!
So many awesome things to see and do there. I'd love to see the manatees and do that experience. The wildlife park would also be on my list and I'd also like to see the Old-Florida Island. Seems more peaceful there. So much to explore in Florida - my list keeps growing.
It really is more peaceful in the nature coast, and it's the prefect change of pace from the bustling beach towns in the Tampa/St Pete area! Variety is the spice of life, and we're thankful that Florida has a LOT of it!
We're happy to hear that you found it to be helpful, David! We have yet to try scalloping but are hoping to get a chance to give it a try sooner or later. We hope you're able to make to the Nature Coast soon!
This is easily the best and most comprehensive video on your channel yet,,,, and I’ve seen all 200. I’ve done several of these spots on my own and even more from your recent videos. Looks like I have a few more to go. The manatee swim it top on the todo list.
Wow, thanks Bob! This was a compilation of a lot of older content, so we initially weren't sure how it would stack up (quality wise) against some of our newer videos, but we were able to find a lot of great footage and were really happy with how it turned out. We're sure glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this informative video! We are actually moving to Inverness, Florida in two weeks. I am definitely looking forward to all of the new experiences!
That's so exciting to hear about your upcoming move, Kristin! We haven't made it to Inverness yet, but we got pretty close to it a couple weeks ago on our way to Rainbow River. We're going to be posting that video this weekend, and we think it will be one you enjoy since it's so close to you new home! Best of luck with the move, and thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Another great video of some of the most interesting places on the Nature Coast! I had a lovely time visiting Cedar Key several years ago. There was a local pilot, Marvin Franks, who offered plane rides over the area. Cedar Key Island Air Tours is his business--it was an amazing tour over such a pretty old fishing town. Thanks for the memories! 🙂
Yeah Cedar Key is such a unique vibe. We can't wait to get back there a third time and will have to see if Marvin is still doing his plane rides when we do! It sounds like a pretty awesome experience!
This looks like such an amazing part of the state to visit and you guys did a great job with this overview 🙂 The nature coast looks right up my street! Think seeing a manatee in one of the springs would be a highlight for me.
Thanks so much, guys. If you do visit Crystal River during the right time of ear you will almost surely see a manatee! It's one of the top things we'd recommend to anyone visiting Florida!
Hi and thanks, Explorcation for sharing. Thank you for a lot of info regarding FL visit. I have been kayaking in FL, there is a few locations I have not been to. Adding to my bucket list. Thank you. You made my day.☕☕🙋♀🙋♀🛶🛶
Ive done almost all of these without realizing it was called the nature coast. I didnt go to the first island, and I've paddled on the Crystal River to Three Sisters Spings. You guys convinced me to do the Manatee tour, I'm sold.
Yeah I think it took us a few visits before we knew it was the nature coast also! So glad to hear you are gonna do the manatee tour. Let us know how you like it!
Love this video, so much to see and do on the nature coast. Didn't know it spanned so many counties. 05:27 is a native Black Crowned Night Heron. Ok, gotta know where you got those wings 10:43 at?
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Those wings were from Steamer's on Cedar Key. We were really impressed with how delicious they were, especially for an oyster place! Beautiful bird at 5:27... but had no idea that is what it was called. Thanks for info!
We can see why this is one of Skylar’s favourite areas! So much to do and also so beautiful! Paddling down the weeki wachi river would defs be top of our list 😍 Followed by the manatee experience 💕 Cedar Key also looks like a great little town!
Yeah, the Weeki Wachee paddle and manatee tours are both pretty unique experiences, and we're sure you guys would love them. I'm curious about the amazing paddling (and hiking) adventures you two will surely have at your fingertips in New Zealand. We love our manatees and gators here in Florida, but we're sure New Zealand is going to be next level!
We've only been up in the Ocala area a couple of times, but from what we've seen it seems beautiful. We also would love the close proximity to the Nature Coast. If you think you live in paradise, then you do, and we're glad you found it here in Florida, Shawn.
That mermaid show would definitely be something interesting to see....don't think there is anything like that over here. The beautiful clear waters to swim in and a shame the water park was closed. However I'm very surprised they give you a bucket to collect shells....I wonder how long they do that for before there is a shortage and have to stop it. This crystal river area is one I've wanted to visit for ages and I can't wait to get there one day...I love the Dugongs or Manatees and see so many clips of paddleboarding past them, and snorkelling is definitely on the list. Great round up video guys :)
I honestly had no idea that the Indian Ocean had its own manatees (dugongs)... which prompted me to do a little research. It sounds like they are a bit smaller and have a different type of tail, but are otherwise pretty much the same, correct? Either way, would love to get to experience them in person some day! We had never really thought about taking shells from the beach as being potentially harmful to the ecosystem until recently. I doubt the thought ever crosses most shell collectors' minds. It seems like there is still quite a bit of debate on how harmful it actually is, but we do prefer to err on the side of caution and leave things the way nature intended whenever possible.
@@Explorcation There are Dugongs over here, but few and far between. No actually tour in the wild to see them, but you can randomly swim past one. Therefore, not something I have ever seen in the wild and only in a wildlife park. Going to have to trust you on the size and tail being different.......I have no clue and good for you on doing some research :) There is a big thing over here right now about balancing rocks on a beach like a pyramid....I'm sure you have seen it before. A small thing that looks pretty, but potentially dangerous for the ecosystem by changing the environment and upsetting animals homes, Blocks waves etc. There is now a 15k fine for anyone caught doing it in a particular state and soon I think they will make it Australia wide. You would be surprised how much it's frowned upon all over the world ( like riding elephants or getting pictures taken with tigers).... everyone has an opinion and your never going to please everyone. :) But collecting shells might be the thing to do over there and that's fine.... We are taught over here to leave only footprints and take only photos in any natural environment.....but plenty still do!
Jamie just informed me that she was aware of the Dugongs from a prior conversation with you... not sure why she never told me about them! 😂 How awesome that would be to be lucky enough to swim by one in the wild. Yes, people definitely do the rock pyramid thing here too.... definitely never heard of anyone getting fined for it though. It sounds like Australia has much stricter beach laws than here in the states. They will probably make there way here eventually!
@@Explorcation I think the prior Dugong conversation was from the first video you ever posted on Crystal river...That was a while ago...LOL Yeah, Australia is pretty strict with rules, especially in a natural environment. Big on safety too and can't even use a gopro on a waterslide..... Thats why I like travel elsewhere sometimesHAHA
@@AquariusTraveller that was a long time ago! I (Jamie) definitely remember the convo though :) Wow those rules are pretty strict, but I am sure the rules really help preserve the nature areas.
OUR Jayme actually had a chance to visit Homosassa Springs with her mom several years ago! It is still one of her favorite memories with her mama♥️ The Branson Fam will need to take our kiddos there on our next trip to Florida! When is the best time to see all of the manitees there?
Homosassa really is one of the highlights of the nature coast. The best time to see the manatees is basically any time that the spring water is warmer than the gulf water. So any time the gulf water dips below 72 degrees (primarily in the winter months), the manatees will start making their way to the warmer spring waters.
From what we've heard, alligators generally don't prefer the springs waters because of the cool temperatures, but they are still spotted in and around the springs on occasion. That said, thousands of people swim in spring waters every year, and we never hear about them getting attacked, so for us, the experience is worth the risk.

Anclote Beach looks beautiful!! The state park also looks fun! Loved the snorkeling with the manatees!
The manatee tour was a one of a kind experience for sure, and Anclote Key was as beautiful as it looked on camera (if not more). We just wish we had more time there!
Oh wow! We lived in Pensacola for 2 years and still never even knew this existed in Florida! So much to discover

Thanks for the information. Trying to get that way for some scallops and flounder fishing. Some helpful tips.
