When I was in my first year of speech, I competed at Harvard in DI and Duo but didn't break in either. My coach always wanted me to try HI, so she suggested I watch a Harvard outround to get exposed to it. I sat in on HI quarterfinals, and Luke's performance of this piece ended up being one of the first HI's I ever saw. It was insanely intimidating at the time, but also inspiring. I wondered what it would be like to be a top HI competitor. So I threw myself into it headfirst, and the very next year I found myself breaking to Harvard HI quarterfinals as well. I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling of looking up to people that competed at this level in one of the hardest events, only to end up being one of those people. Watching this piece just floods me with those same feelings all over again.
is there anyway way to buy a copy of the piece? i've looked everywhere and can't find it. i've only found one preview and in the preview luke said things that weren't even in the piece so i'm a little confused
Hi April, I posted the links to purchase in the show more section. www.bigdogplays.com/playdisplay.asp?playid=366 I wrote the piece and also have additional speech team pieces available here speechgeekmarket.com/collections/interp-script-house
this is a prime example of why I don't do HI but have an immense respect for those who do
I agree. I could never do this.
This is what I would call a classic humorous interp performance. Wonderful.
Yeah!
The hip thrust getting out of the desk was legendary
He had me at "puhterodactyls".
